A well preserved place for gold rush era. Beautiful brick buildings demonstrate the heyday of Shasta. Courthouse museum is closed. It’s relaxed to explore this park by walking on the deck and trails and stop by the introduction signs at one’s pace.

This historic park houses the remains of Shasta City, alive and bustling in the Gold Rush days, and now a ghost town with restored stagecoach, barn and courthouse.

Small historic town which are mostly ruins. I applaud the people who committed on restoring these sites and the people who currently work and volunteer here. There are plenty of signage to learn the history of the buildings.

It's fun to get out and walk the trails and see the old buildings. We had our dog with us so we didn't go inside the museum. Maybe next time. Ifyou haven't been here It's worth a quick stop.

I've driven through it many times, but I visited only once when I was a kid, and this place is much cooler than I remembered it. You're actually able to walk amongst some of the ruins. Also, I happened to be there in mid-spring, and the place was blooming with poppies, which provided some amazing photo opportunities.
The courthouse museum was also very interesting and had more variety than I expected. The site is also home to the oldest Masonic lodge in CA.
The ruins are literally located right on the main road, and can be visited for free, so there is no reason to not stop here.

This place was an awesome find! The museum was filled with a wealth of information and was a glimpse into a time in history nearly forgotten by many. The relics were hauntingly beautiful. You can get a great sandwich at Shorty's and enjoy a soda on the porch. The boardwalk, friendly people, and town overall is very hospitable.

Nice little walk with the puppy & the hubby. Blacksmith was working on a couple projects & super friendly. Little cafe open and very inviting. Walk along the board walk always nice to remind oneself of the history of our county.

Visit this historical gem to learn about some local legends and gold-rush era life. Highlights for us were the museum, blacksmith demonstrations, and graveyard.

There is so much history here. They do have a museum for a $3.00 p.p. fee. Ample parking. Great place for a picnic. Lots of opportunities for pictures. The general store is open to purchase cooked food, groceries and souvenirs.

Stopped here on the way back down from Oregon. Not far from the I-5 so it was definitely worth making the stop. Good place for kids to learn about the history without the commercialism that seems to be rampant in the bigger towns.

It's a small stop between Redding and Whiskeytown but it's still a piece of California history and to me I find that kind of stuff interesting. So the fact that Shasta county as worked to preserve it, is amazing.

Always an amazing place to visit. Walking through history with a sense of who lived there and worked there before. Tragically nestled within the skeletal charred remains of the surrounding path of a wildfire. Nevertheless, a visit worth your time!

Shasta is a census-designated place in Shasta County, California, United States. Shasta sits at an elevation of 843 feet. The 2010 U.S. Census reported Shasta's population was 1,771. Shasta State Historic Park located at Shasta is a ghost town and California State Historic Park.
Brief visit late September 2017 after photographing a sunrise at Whiskeytown Lake. One can only muse on the shell of what once was a boom town during the gold rush days of California.

A cool area to walk around with a lot of history. The museum costs money, but everything else is free.
