This campsite is gorgeous. The sites are surrounded by large beautiful redwood trees and the Van Duzen river is close enough to hear from most sites. The river was crystal clear. Pete the State Park ranger lead an awesome fireside talk in the evening about the local wildlife. The bathrooms were clean and the sites had well maintained driveways and fire pits. The only thing that wasn't ideal is that it's close to the road and at night the cars could be loud. I felt like it was worth it.

The majesty of the Redwoods is unparalleled. Close to the filming location of the iconic Star Wars scene, this gem of a campground feels secluded. Site 14 has a clear view of the Van Dusen River. The camp host and ranger at this campground were amazing as well. Showers are warm, but I suggest bringing extra quarters.

Still our favorite State Park to camp. I kind of like the logging trucks rolling past in the wee hours of the night. But, the hiking is great. Cheatham Grove is nearby. The river is there. And, it's a short drive into Fortuna, Ferndale and Eureka.

Truly a beautiful place. This campground is right off hwy 36 so if your camped on the side closest to the hwy it can be loud & busy at times. Flush toilets, showers, a visitor center (closed during our stay) There is a spot for swimming, trails to see the redwood and wildlife, lots of bird watching at the campsite.

My experience here went really well, 101 was closed so had to go this way to get to I5. It is the first stop going east toward Red bluff. Got there and asked for bathrooms and was told they give a 20min window to stretch, use the bathrooom and visit the gift shop if we like and we wouldn't get charged. Bathrooms were clean, the scenery was beautiful. They have wifi in the visitors center/gift shop that is free. Good if you want to send a message over social media to let someone know where you're at. The staff was friendly and informative about all their little displays (rocks, taxidermy, bugs.) This place is a good rest stop. If i go through this way again, i know i have a place i can rely on.

After camping in Jedediah and Del Norte we were not expecting a lot from little Grizzly Creek. But, all in all it ended up being our favorite. Easy river access, flat terrain. and spaciousness was afforded to all sites. The visitor's center was one of the best we had seen too. Ranger Shanna is just so friendly and welcoming and her Campfire Talk was loaded with information making her an excellent Ranger to take a Forest Tour with. This is how we learned that even for its small acreage there is arguably a greatee variety of plantlife here than in any of the other larger parks. We really had an excellent stay here. Running water and showers also available and everything was nice and clean.

A very nice and clean campground located along the Van Duzen River. There is a bit of noise from Highway 36. Some of the sites are a little tight for larger RVs. We managed to get our Class C motorhome in with a little effort. Dogs are not allowed in the river, which is the case with most California State Parks. The rangers are nice and helpful.

Right in the heart of the Redwoods with a beautiful little creek trickling over sun toasted, river washed, granite rocks. A great picnic or camping destination for the whole family.

I would have to say that the camping sites are awesome except their right close to the road. You can hear cars most of the time but if you get in the right spot you'll have the creek next to you and your little farther away from the street.

Very nice campground. Both times we've stayed here, there have been lots of families with kids. Great access to a beach on the Van D river. Nice flat rocks for skipping, etc if the kids of all ages desire.

Absolutely beautiful but some campsites right beneath the road. Prefer Swimmer's Delight for camping and accessibility to swimming.

This is a hidden gem. Closed until late spring. The river was stunning and Redwoods are breathtaking.

Beautiful place, helpful staff, great swimming holes! There's a lending library, several hiking trails, clean bathrooms, Jr. Ranger programs, which we loved, pay showers ($.25 per minute), and nice size campsites. There are 2 campsites designated for disabled people close to the bathroom which are larger than most sites. It was very helpful with my mobility issues! We camped on the river side which we enjoyed. The campground loops around and the far side butts up against the hwy which I wouldn't care for. You can reserve sites online. Campsites are $35/night. Great place for family fun of all ages!

Flushing toilets, potable water from spigots, plenty of tent space, and access to the creek make this a place I'd go back to for sure. The creek is fairly warm and the ranger on duty was very nice and helpful. The campsites are shaded by the forest canopy so it can be quite cold even on a warm day.

If you turn right out of this location, there's a small shop 2.5 miles down the road that sells bundles of wood and other convenience store type stuff.

The locals and even the truckers fly through here on these windy narrow roads.. Could be pretty scary to some.. If you get a chance to take one of the turn outs and can stop and enjoy the scenery, you will love it. Massive redwoods, beautiful rivers, and lovely mountain views.. Bring your camera, a fishing license with some poles, and your family. Don't forget t check out one of the local eateries.. Blink and you will miss em.. Enjoy.

I absolutely loved this place when I visited. Everyone had a great time doing everything from playing in the water to hiking around in the wilderness. The atmosphere is really refreshing and the weather is nice and cool/moderate which is a blessed relief if you live somewhere that gets triple digit weather on the regular. This place made for a great little vacation for my family and we really enjoyed being here.
