This is an old world gem in Providence. The folks at L Sweet Lumber were patient and generous with their time, helping me figure out what I needed for a home project. There are a bunch of experienced woodworkers here and they clearly work with professionals all the time, but at no point did they talk down to me or make me feel bad about my skill or level of experience. At one point I asked a question and the guy I was working with was confident and mature enough to to say "I don't know that, but you can talk to _____, who will know."

It's also a really enjoyable space to visit. I will absolutely be back for my next project.

I'm a newcomer to woodworking, and in the past I've always gotten the bits of lumber I needed from big box stores like Lowes. Most of the time, this was a frustrating & confusing experience, so I thought I'd try a place that just handled lumber.

I am so glad I did! After one trip to L Sweet I can't imagine ever going back to the Big Orange or Blue. The staff was super helpful, made some suggestions for my project, helped me load things up, and made sure I had everything I needed.

I'm not just pleased with the experience of this purchase, but genuinely more excited to get deeper into woodworking as a result of this visit. I'll certainly be returning soon!

Eddie is the best. He works for the customer and gets great prices for you. We ordered a lot of Timbertech railings and deck boards from Paul at Home Depot in Seekonk and he ordered round ballisters and railings that fit square ballisters. I had to speak to the top Home Depot manager to get my money back because everyone else at Home Depot said we cant get our money back because we should have checked the order before we bought it. Isn't that Pauls job in special products... to make sure hes ordering the right stuff that fits? Eddie knew what we wanted and matched Home Depots price AND had it delivered in a week. Even better..their delivery driver called and asked if we had sprinkler heads near our driveway. We do so he walked the products to the garage. WTH! Great, great service. As a kid a wanted a time machine. Today one popped me into the past at L. Sweet Lumber; Let's say 1939. It's in the heart of one of the busiest cities in New England. Every conceivable type of lumber, fittings and all the modern thing too. Very cool, plus They Help Customers!! In this day and age! You may walk around all the nooks and crannies, hear the wood floors creek, huge milling machines after all that you're bound to get inspired to build something. I did! We are lucky to have a wonderful lumber yard as L. Sweet.

Brian at L Sweet was helpful, courteous and professional on the phone with me when I ordered 2 sheets of marine plywood. Wood products are very costly these days but he got me the best price on my special order. L Sweet employees are professional.

Finding this place was like hitting the jackpot, especially if you are a beginner woodworker. The selection and quality of wood was amazing and the staff blew me away! Took me for a tour of their very well-organized lumberyard and dropped all kinds of wisdom on this beginner! And the price was reasonable, maybe even a bargain. Thanks so much, John!

My experience working with Dan at Sweet Lumber has been exceptional. My first order was for a specialty railing for my stairs and balcony. Dan used the photo I sent him and worked with my contractor to customize exactly what I wanted. We have also worked with Dan on supplies for the outside of our house. Dan made a trip to our home so that he could provide the exact material and quantity appropriate for the home. I was unsure of our decking order and he provided a pressure treated wood that could be stained without waiting 6 months for it to dry and then delivered it the same day! I have been very hands-on during this renovation and this is the only materials vendor that has made my life easier.

L Sweet Lumber Company has more than just lumber. It has a vast library of knowledge amongst seasoned employees who know how to offer innovative solutions and traditional building concepts for your carpentry or DIY projects.

I went in there without an expectation, but quite frustrated from large stores with the difficulties of finding what was needed. Upon arriving here, I was patiently listened to as I had difficulty describing what I needed.

The employees were thoughtful and offered a solution that I could get done with my skill level. I was able to buy the goods and finish the job on my own by the end of the workday.

This place is good, and they will treat you right, bring your good customer game and be prepared to answer a few questions. If you're a carpenter, stop by this place as well!

Here at Nexus Property Management we often have to rebuild/reconstruct areas of our managed apartments and homes. We used to utilize big box stores for our wood supply but quickly realized the L Sweet Lumber was the best value. The wood selection is vast and the prices are extremely fair. My wife and decided to build a new deck off the back of our house. I couldn't find PT lumber anywhere. I spent the better part of 3 days searching for it. I called Sweet and talked to Tom and ordered the lumber and it was delivered 2 days later. I will be back.

We walked in and they immediately came over to help us. They were knowledgeable, and their expertise guided us to an excellent solution to our needs. The place is great, I highly recommend it.

This place is a five star lumber yard. Excellent place and top of the line wood. It's not cheat. You'll find the best wood in town.

The kid they have upstairs in the shop can mill you just about anything. Had router bits i have never seen before or since. Matched about 95% perfect some ancient moulding i could have never found...

Last time I went, the knowledge and service by Dan Ryan made me feel like a VIP. There was nothing about the building trdes he could not answer
