I personally love the employees in mental health. The nurses across the board are second to none. My P.C.P. is amazing she listens to her patience and has incredible bed side manner. No bad appointments. Sometimes the pharmacy is packed but it's free so we wait .....

Review Providence R.I. VA Audiology Dept:
My civilian ENT doctor, after discovering my loss of hearing, recommended to me that I go to the Providence VA Audiology Eagle Square. I questioned him about why he would send me anywhere else. He told me that they had an outstanding reputation and would help me quickly. I was not disappointed. An appointment was made quickly and met with Dr. Kelsey Melucci. She was professional, helpful, and understanding of my issues. I have had a few follow-up appointments and received the same excellent treatment. I must say the same also applies to the staff. It was an extremely pleasant and helpful experience.

In praise of the VA Medical Center in Providence, RI:

Without being too specific about my medical history I feel obligated to display a little gratitude for the staff at the VAMC in PVD. After several days of increasing pain and my inability to sleep in my own bed due to that pain, I sought telephone advice from my PCP at the VA, only to find that my assigned doc had left for unspecified parts unknown. My new PCP has not yet taken on hands-on responsibilities for his newly-assigned patients so I spoke at length with a triage nurse somewhere in the northeast. She advised me to go to the Urgent Care department in Providence where they could do vitals, blood and urine tests, x-rays, prescribe pain meds, whatever. Since I couldn't sleep anyway I got clean-up and headed to Providence at 6:05 a.m. to avoid any traffic problems in the city caused by the loss of a major bridge on Interstate 195 West.

Urgent Care hours are listed as 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and I wanted to be near the front of the line. There was no line; it opens at 8:00 a.m. so I went the the ER which is nearby in the main building of the hospital. After a brief chat with a lady behind a glass partition I was invited in by the doc. He did a cursory check and told me he was going to draw blood, requested a urine sample and scheduled me for a cat scan. The shift changed at 7:30 or so and I got a new doc and Diego, my new male RN, who got me into a wheelchair and rushed me over to radiology for the cat scan, then back to the ER. The fluid tests and the cat scan revealed nothing so I was given some Tylenol and a medical patch for my back, told to go home and rest, use a heating pad and call or come back if needed.

My purpose here is in praise of all the folks who helped me early this morning. They were helpful, encouraging and efficient and treated a stranger (me) with respect and great care. It made me proud and happy that our country has such people to serve veterans in their hours of need.

When I got home, still before noon, I had a coffee and a little cereal with banana then nodded off until my son called to check on me.

The pain meds have worn off now so I have a little pain but I feel nothing but gratitude for the care I received earlier today.

Thank you, Providence VAMC people. My hat is off to you!

The Providence VA Medical Center surprises me every time I go there. Let me just say that the parking garage is a huge help because before you'd have to trawl the lot to find a patient that was leaving so you can get a good spot. But the real bright spot to the VA today was the kind hello and good mornings as you walk past the security guard station. All of the security guards were saying hello, good morning, and have a nice day to all who entered and exited the facility. The next beacon was the phlebotomist(I didn't get her name), but she is short, brown hair and glasses. I asked her if she could get me in before my 930 appointment, and she said yes. Before I knew it my name was called and she took me to the back got done vials, asked my last name and social and then voila was drawing my blood. She was so professional and courteous that I had to make small talk. She told me she worked upstairs yesterday. I told her she should give a class to anyone looking to learn how to draw blood. Again I'm not sure what her name was, but she deserves a thank you, pat on the back, or at least a cup of coffee for just being who she is. <- fantastic!

I have been going to the Providence VA since the late 70's and have seen it improve 100%. The staff and care I receive is outstanding. They call me at home to update me on my condition and treatment, who else does that. They save my life and I will be forever grateful.

I absolutely adore my doctors here. They've saved my life many times over. Mental health is top notch. My doctors are always a phone call away and I can get appointments with ease. I've never felt more supported by my doctors than I do here. From the women's clinic to the er and surgical I've pretty much seen them all and God bless you guys for being so awesome to us veterans.

I have been visiting the PVAMC since the 80's, had 3 surgical procedures and routine appointments for various healthcare issues. I cannot praise the entire staff from entering till leaving the facility. Their existence is crucial to veterans like myself and I will always be grateful for the ethical and high level of professional healthcare I have received at the PVAMC. I thank them all for their service to veterans!

I come to this VA several times per week. The staff is excellent and cares for you. I have been coming here for over 15 years. The only complaints I have is the inpatient food, I tell them I dont eat or drink something but I get it anyway. They did away with cable tv and replaced it with horrible over the air channels. But I am not picking at this point. All the doctors and nurses are the best in the business. If they dont have one they get you one on the outside.

I have been going to the prov VA for over 20 yrs. True it was an old building but the renovations. And new extensions that have been added are great . The people who work there. Are top of the line. All in my experience have been. Wonderful ..from the valets to the administrators ..like I said I've seen big change all for the betterment of serving our states veterans of which I am proud to be ..some folks put the place down. Well no one is forcing you to go there .there are many other options in this small state ..I love the care I get from the VA. And quite frankly if not for thier professional and up to date care of me. .I would not be here today ..help is there for all vets you need just ask and they will do everything in thier power to help you ...thank you priv VA. Keep up the great work. I and many. RI vets are very proud of our hospital and staff

I cannot say enough good about the Providence VA Medical Center and the Audiology Clinic. I had to work so hard to get my dad, a former Navy Seabee, into the system after he had been denied benefits all his life, only to find out that he was repeatedly denied eligibility over the years because his discharge papers from back in the fifties showed his birth year as being one year off from what it actually was. Once we got through the admin brick wall (which I bet is now better than it was two years ago) and got that corrected with the help of the director, Kasim Yarn, and David DosReis at the office in Warwick, it was success, compassion, and precious help at every turn. The staff and my dad's primary, Dr. Lidia Vognar, are always professional, thorough, kind, and caring. It was worth the hard fight to break through. Be persistent -- if you are a veteran, this country knows you've been through a whole lot worse.

This is the best place for medical care for veterans. It's a fairly old building complex that has been modernized. There's a lot of walking involved but during the day there are volunteers who will transport you via wheelchair if you need it. The staff is amazing! Very helpful and professional.

I can't explain the poor reviews of others who have submited. Emergency visits, surgery stays, and routine checkups have been (without fail) professional and courteous. Add in a generous portion of "Thank you for serving" from the staff.
