Mesa Falls Visitor Center Reviews

This is a beautiful place not too far from Yellowstone and the Tetons. The views of Upper and Lower Mesa Falls are not too far off the road on a nice paved trail. It wasn’t crowded at all when we were there. The ranger at the visitor’s center was helpful in letting us know about other things to do in the area, and the center had interesting information about the area that people of all ages can enjoy.

Short, easy hike. Boardwalk with stairs. Beautiful falls. $5 entry on honor system.

What a gorgeous view and place! My coworker, and I drove up here after a business event to see the falls and it was amazing! Definitely breathtaking. Highly recommended for all friends and family.

A must stop when in the area. We were driving from West Yellowstone to Idaho Falls via backroads. Lots of overlooks to walk out on. Very nice Rangers.

$5 exact cash self-pay parking. Have to put money in an envelope and deposit it into a drop box and put a tag on your car. There is limited parking so if going during a holiday or weekend plan accordingly.
Visitors center is open from 9:30-5:30 during summer, winter hours very and are pretty limited because they do not plow the road all year that leads to the visitor center turn off. Inside is a short history of the area and some information on local wildlife.
It is a nice paved slow decline down to the lower falls that eventually turns into a boardwalk near the falls. There are some stair sections.
We went with kids and a 6-month preggo and everyone did it fine with pacing.
2 private bathrooms at the beginning of the trail.
Great place to visit with family, friends, anyone really. You get as close as you can to the falls without actually going over them. It is a very well made and maintained area. We are locals who visit the falls 2-3 times a year.

We enjoyed our visit to Mesa Falls. We saw both upper and lower falls. The upper falls is a short hike from the parking lot. The visitor center also had a small gift shop.

Beware: for the upper falls the entrance is $5 /vehicle. The place has stairs to climb down to see the waterfall. It also has plenty of bathrooms and running water to refill your bottles. I love the scenery!! The waterfall is MASIVE!! Well worthwhile the visit.

It's just a short walk, after about a 20 minute, drive off the highway. It's well worth the detour. You'll need $5 cash to park. Wear mosquito repellent.
Great view and picture spot.

This is a beautiful area. We came here after Yellowstone was evacuated due to flooding. The trails are easy to navigate and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. Beautiful overlooks and great wildlife along the trails. The falls were well worth the trip.

Very cool, learned about the history of the building and the area, which I and my family enjoyed. The falls are beautiful and the coolness on a hot day is welcome! The walkway is appropriate for wheelchair access up to a point only. Paying the $5 entry fee was a real cluster, but that's my only complaint. Well worth the drive.

Gushing falls with great views. 1 mile trail to lower falls that practically anyone not in a wheelchair could hike.

One of the best stops on our trip. Not very well advertised but think that is by design. A true hidden gem 💎 We enjoyed it so much on Saturday that we went back on Monday and on Monday we had almost all of the awesome views to ourselves. Grade A+++

Huge, colorful and gorgeous falls! We came in the morning, not many people yet and the rainbow was great! Boardwalk is amazing and well maintained. Lots of chipmunks around! Be sure to have proper change or a check to pay the fee ($5 a car), the visitor center may be closed (they opened around 9:30 when we were there in August).

We read about upper Mesa Falls so decided to visit. Very beautiful falls and you can see a rainbow if there in the mornings. We then took the 1 mile nature hike down to lowe Mesa Falls. Very easy hike and they have a lot of info about the plants along the way. You end up high above lower Mesa Falls and they are not as impressive as the upper falls but still worth the hike.

Great place for the kids. Lots of things to learn and look at. Get your Mesa falls souvenirs and stuff. Lots of animal pelts to look at and some things for the kids to color and read. The staff was great and very helpful. Even told us stories about the cabin and answered all of our questions

Mesa Falls makes for a fun summertime outing roughly 30 minutes outside of Ashton, Idaho. I recommend going in the morning when it's not as hot and the bugs are less present. The sun can fall just right in the morning to reveal a rainbow over the falls.

One of the beautiful falls near West Yellowstone. We drove on our way back from yellowstone.its near 20W highway. It's accessible ease with one of the toddler in our group. Not sure why this is not famous with bigger crowd visiting Yellowstone. With the fall colors at it's peak it was a treat to watch the beauty of it and we could experienced the rainbows glistened during the morning sunshine. We had our best pictures with family and friends.

Very nice views of the upper falls. The historic facility houses the information center. Nice walkways to the Falls and some handicap areas. Overflow parking for oversize Van's etc. Golden age pass access or $5 entry.

One of my favorite places. A great place to see the power of water.
