Highly recommend! It has outdoor seating which has dog friendly atmosphere. The process of finding your seat indoors or outside, ordering from 1 QR code from so many options and having it all come to you in a food hall atmosphere is amazing! Such a stress free system especially with a larger group.

Options in hall include : coffee shop, pizza, salad/sandwiches, ramen, sushi, American burgers, and Mexican.

The only thing to note is that it is a bit expensive, but I think it is worth it. Price is for the service, option selection and atmosphere.

Great place to work from during the day as well. Staff is helpful at all times of the day.

***02/07/2024-After revisiting The Roost I would love to say Von, Jet, and J made a very pleasurable experience for me. After having a meatball sub that was very flavorful and juicy I was left not disappointed but wanting to try more. My cocktails came out fresh and flavorful. The service was quick and easy. So much great energy behind the bar and from all the staff i encountered, and I have to say thank you to Ms. Rachael.

To start the space is beautiful, big, interesting and fun. The front bar was a horrible experience, I wanted to get food but I got one drink and headed to the back bar that someone had to tell me about. My bartender was passively rude and also didn’t want to show me how much I really owed him I believe. Couldn’t make my drink for nothing, and was telling me he will make my drink with these ingredients instead of what it’s supposed to be because he had more of something else and I guess I didn’t matter. Plus he said he would have to walk to the back to get what was needed. My drink got remade a few times.I closed out and went to the back bar and it was okay. The quesadilla was bomb, great amount for the price especially. When it comes to the bars, I don’t know how I feel about it.

A collective of restaurants under one roof. The location is directly across the street from the Potomac Ave metro station. It's on the ground floor of a modern apt building. I liked their method of ordering food online thru the QR code at your table. You can look at the menus of each of the eateries and place your order and pay electronically. When it's ready a server brings your order from the restaurant to you. We stopped by twice and the food was great. We enjoyed square sliced pizza, Turkey Pesto sandwich on ciabatta, Queso El B with chips, and a small small bowl of pork wontons. Very popular, neighborhood spot.

The Roost is unlike any other place, it is a public seating area full of different food options. It mimics a school cafeteria, however what is unique is you scan a QR code on the table and start a tab on your phone! You can order from any restaurant in the roost from your table and don’t have to move! They have free WiFi, the service is quick and the facilities are clean! The food options are also unique, from coffee, pizza to pork buns and sushi!

Great time at The Roost. Love the concept. You find a table and order from any of the food/drink/dessert available from your phone.

We tried pizza, sushi, draft beers and caramel custard pie. We then ended with a mocha latte. Yum and yum. What's really nice is you can try a little of everything.

Service was fantastic, everyone was so nice and we never felt rushed. We were able to really relax and enjoy our food.

We sat in a booth on the bar side (The Shelter) which was less bright with warm comfortable light. This was perfect for me as I easily get migraines from bright white lights.

Overall a great relaxing time. Cant wait to go back and try the taco salad I saw go by that looked awesome!

The service is amazing, especially from the long time staff members. We are chronically waited on my the same man, and he is always lovely and ensures everything is to standard. Also, where else can you go with friends that all like different cuisine? Everyone orders their choice, and it can range from sushi, to tacos, to pizza, to burgers, to pasta… the list is endless. We were so excited when the Roost moved in on Penn Ave, and we’re just as excited today as we were on day one, if not, more so. Please give the Roost a try if you’re ever in the DMV area! You will NOT be disappointed!

We came in yesterday evening & we were welcomed by a young lady named Edith she was very helpful and explained the ordering process to us. She checked on our table very frequently to make sure everything was good. Edith was very friendly and outgoing and had some great recommendations.
The food was amazing at this place. We were in town and visited a few times during the week and not one time did they disappoint. If you’re visiting this is the place to visit!

This was a great experience for a food hall. Ordering was easy for me, though a couple friends struggled to bring up the menu on their phones. The QR code is matched to the table so getting our for was also easy. The food was overall pretty good. I had a oatmilk coffee, the kitchen sink nachos and a lemonade. The tacos, pork belly poutine fries, and beef fat fries were also pretty good according my friends. The only miss from our group was the burger, unfortunately. It could have used some more sauce.

Really impressed with this place. Great range of food options, nice atmosphere at the bar. Variety of beers on offer was impressive, they had some top tier breweries in the mix.

We had a bunch of different tacos which were really reasonably priced.

Definitely recommend.

Me and my fiancé went on a walk around Capitol Hill with our dog and stop by the roost for brunch. We ended up getting a good amount of food which was nice to try variety of their options. The item that did not stand out were the wings. The nachos were on point. My fiancé says that a salad was the best salad she’s ever had (there is true to that statement). We tried the grilled chicken, avocado, bacon sandwich, which was on point. Service is pretty on point and for how fresh the food was it came out fairly fast. It’s crazy how powerful QR code can be these days.

its fancy food hall with lots of different options. you sit down, get the menu on your phone, and select different dishes from different places, and they bring it to you... i loved getting sushi and taco and avacado toast all in same meal.

We are so glad to have a place like The Roost in our neighborhood - it’s a real anchor!

All the food is fantastic, and I love the variety. Easy to bring a group to.

We don’t have kids ourselves but I also love seeing families eating here & it being kid friendly.

My only requests are: that they rotated some of their offerings more often, and that there were more shareable/appetizer style dishes.

This was the perfect place for our family of four with very different tastes. You can order from every restaurant right from your phone, and it all comes to you. The Red Apron burger was excellent, and the sushi was great as well.

The Roost is awesome as a food hall. You sit anywhere (inside or out), order and pay through the QR code, but you also get a high level of table service. Not only do they bring the food out to your table, a floating set of professional and courteous wait staff bring you water, plate, silverware and a cloth napkin (fancy).

The whole hall is also well designed and decorated.

I have tried food from HiFi Tacos, Slice Joint, and AKO Sushi and they've all been dope.

Wish this hall wasn't so deep in SE but otherwise it's perfect.

Wish there were more dining halls like these throughout the U.S. Husband and I shared a brussel sprout pizza slice, pork belly poutine, and braised pulled pork tacos. So delicious.

This is my go-to place in DC for a coffee + sweets on a work getaway. The food options are very good and varied, all in one place. The atmosphere has enough buzz to be interesting and lively but also enough to not be annoying or distracting. The servers are quick and courteous, as well.

You need to have this in your life. The beer selection is huge. Bartenders are awesome. I went for happy hour and it wasn't busy so they let me sample like 10 beers before I decided. You guys rock.
Right now the stouts are sweet as hell though- too sweet, sours are great, but you could use some more ciders on tap

Absolute must-visit! Amazing selection of food, beer, cocktails, and vibes for any situation: first-dates (or 157th dates), family gatherings, remote-working, solo-dining, neighborly meet-ups…you name it, The Roost fits the bill and aims to please. Big thanks to bartender Kurt and manager Blue for their outstanding hospitality and service. Will be back 100%

The Roost is an awesome place. It fills me with nostalgia of old school mall food courts with a modern twist. Food is great and the atmosphere is great. This isn't a full dine in service. Sometimes you get water immediately, other times you have to ask. It just depends on the day and time. Overall I would recommend trying it.

This place is so cool! A market type experience with lots of different restaurants to choose from. We sat at the bar with all the beer (honestly don’t remember which one this was) but you can order from any of the restaurants in here. We got the noodles from Yoko & Kota and the nachos. Seriously SO many options, so great for people who have different tastes. Great environment, with a cozy community feel.
