Could be better taken care of in all honesty, but what you can get to and see is pretty amazing. Still pretty cool place to visit!

Very cool old mining town ⛏. The road to the site is kinda rough, we took a 4x4 truck and it did fine but a low clearance car might have some issues. The signs say that in good weather it takes a couple hours to walk about. Oh, this is also a free attraction.

Very interesting area. Worth the trip up the mountain. Stay on the marked road and ignore the directions google maps recommends. GM will take you up the back side of the mountain on some dangerous and rocky roads.
When you head back down, check out the Bi-Metallic Smelter building and town in Kirkland, right next to Phillipsburg and the bottom of the hill.

Follow the signs once you are out of Philipsburg NOT Google Maps. Neat place worth checking out if you are into ghost towns & mining history! It's a walk/hike around thing but there are unmaintained roads to some areas.

A great old ghost town to explore and look around. You can walk around and just imagine yourself as a resident of long ago by examining the old remnants of buildings that once stood. A great area full of mining history.

Took my hubby and dog on an adventure to this incredible piece of history! We went on a snowy, cold autumn day but it was so worth it! There are some building still standing, many that are only partial, but a lot of neat mining history, and the granite ghost walk trail is great and takes you through just about everything there is to see. The road up is a bit rough, but cars can make it. Overall, it was awesome to explore a bit of Montana history from 200 years ago and to see what is still standing.

DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE!! Follow the signage, roads are rough and steep, but worth it.. Very enjoyable. There are signs to direct you through, but they are few and far between. It was a great historical area to explore and beautiful lay of the land!

My wife and I visited when there weren't many people around. We had fun reading the signs and looking at the historical places. Some of the signs were little deteriorated and could use some fixing, but overall the experience was really great. My wife wasn't expected to enjoy yourself as much as she did. There's a lot of history in this area.

Awesome quiet place to see! Did not do the ghost walk yet, but will be back to do it! Cool history, easy to get to, and no one else there on a Monday morning!

So much fun to visit. We visited in at night. No haunting for us. The information provided was so interesting. I would recommend others to go see. There is so much history there.

Very cool late 19th century mining town. Lots of stone foundations and a couple buildings still almost intact. The inginuity of our forefathers as well as the massive amount of labor displayed around this old mine is impressive. The taling piles are gargantuan and the mill foundation looks like some old building in Europe.

Check the weather before you go. We got snowed on in May. Road can be rough.

To be clear, I did not make it all the way to the ghost town. I was in a rental and the road is very rough. Having said that, the drive up was awesome. Lots of ruts and switchback, very narrow dirt road. If one decides to go here, choose an appropriate vehicle. Have fun and go explore!

Awesome story of history. Buildings are well maintained. Trails easier to manuever.

My rental sedan couldn't make it up to the top, but if you have a higher clearance vehicle I'm sure it's amazing up there. Even the abandonded buildings lower down are super cool.

It was a little tricky getting there, buy it was an awesome place to see. There was so much history and character too it. The view was amazing and the area beautiful. It was a nice drive, though a little bumpy. We got out and hiked around checking out the different buildings and the old railroad tracks. It doesn't look like it has been upkept much at all, some of the signs giving infor.ation on the different buildings are no longer able to be read, but it was nice reading what each one was, some are in better shape than others. We really enjoyed ourselves.
