People are dying to get in

The presentation of the flags for Memorial Day was absolutely beautiful. While I wish the poles had been taller to avoid the flags dragging the ground when they weren't blowing in the wind, I love the effort made to honor our loved ones.

The Memorial Park is rundown and poorly maintained.
The grounds staff trashes everything without regard for personal feelings of the families.
Palm Sunday 2020 found the park in a mess, lawn not mowed, memorials not trimmed, some marker stones were upturned.
Every road in the park has pot holes, the place is just a poorly run mess.
I guess I will need to write the VA State authorities again.

Most chldish web page in the land. No photos or easy access to view the various plot areas, but they sure take advantage to use Patsy Cline's name in the first LINE of their description.

First they force you into paying $10,000+ for a bar minimum funeral and burial service, when you just lost that loved one and feel like you don’t have time to look elsewhere. Then it’s like a mortgage contract to read through and sign for hours. We paid the $6000 to have the headstone/market be completed as soon as possible because it felt like the final closing to the whole unfortunate event. It’s coming up on 1 year without it!!! I would have less frustration if either company would call and update but they haven’t followed through on other deliverables either!! I’ve tried to be calm and talk in person and on the phone but their attrition rate speaks for the company’s quality. They’ve gone through several people (or atleast that’s the excuse they commonly give) since this all started. If you want to save on costs or at minimum, get what you’re promised, go with another company! Taking out all personal emotion, this has been worse customer service than even comcast! I will continue to post this negative review so that less people can be scammed by these fraudulent people. Even if they take this review down, I’ll make another account and post it relentlessly. These people are making millions off our suffering and have no concern, since the need for their business will always be there. The least they can do call with an update once a month. If it’s not installed before April 2023 (13 months after it was discussed and paid for), then it will result in a lawsuit, for the first time in my life. I’ve never felt so hopeless against a small business.

My boyfriend's mother purchased a mausoleum space from this cemetary over 30 years ago. When he decided to upgrade the flower vase from plastic to bronze they charged him almost $800, plus close to $50 to install it. While I think this amount is criminal, he did agree to pay it since the plastic vases are pretty cheap looking. What completely crossed the line though was the $100 dollar "administrative" fee that they added on top of the extortionate rate for the vase. They did not advise him of this fee so he only found out when he got home and looked at the paperwork. This place takes advantage of vulnerable people. I also agree with the negative reviews regarding the general maintenance of the cemetary, to include the mausoleum.

My wife's grandmother recently passed and she had previously bought a plot at Shenandoah Memorial Cemetery. Omps did the funeral service and they did a wonderful job. However the lady that manages the cemetery ( i believe her name is Phyllis not sure ), was extremely pushy in trying to sell other plots while the family was there making arrangements. That i could understand as I'm sure she is working for higher commissions, but needs to be done with a little tactfulness during this stressful situation. During the graveside service which my mother in law was specific about it being just immediate family, she decides to stand right next to the Minister during the service. After the service the minister and the funeral home personnel walk away to give the family a private moment to say their goodbyes. This lady instead has the gall to push her way in between my mother in law and her daughters to hug and pat the back of my mother in law like she is part of the family or something. My mother in law has met this woman once a couple of days before to make arrangements. She was not a family member or even a friend of the family, but she decides to inject herself into the family. My mother in law moved away from her several times only to be followed around by this stranger until my mother in law got upset and just left. unfortunately i have been to quite a few funerals in my time and i have never seen someone behave in such a rude manner. I would certainly hope that management will find someone else to run their cemetery or at least train this lady on proper etiquette during a family burial, so that others will not have to endure this behavior during their time of grief. Lesson number one, if you are not a family member or close friend stand back off to the side and allow the family private time to say goodbye.

I was reading past reviews and saw one from 7 mo this ago where someone was complaining of it overall appearance amping other things. After being there today, I must say it has not gotten any better. The whole property looks almost as if it were abandoned. The owners show no respect for this cemetery and those who choose this has their final resting place. My parents are here and I have to say it has never been all that great, but today I was disgusted. They will be getting a call from tomorrow and I will be reporting them to ICCFA in Sterling VA as well.
I had a very unpleasant and unprofessional experience with one of their staff members when my Mom passed and to this day, her behavior discusses me. Take my word of advice find a different final resting place.

No excuse for the conditions that exist in this cemetary. Grass clippings so thick you cant find family graves. Ruts so deep in the grounds that you risk breaking an ankle. The drainage issue is inexcusable and has been for years. As for the roads they are deplorable. I wish we'd never purchased a plot in this sad excuse for a cemetary. The staff and owners should be ashamed! I believe an article in the local newspapers is in the making ! Too bad you cant rate them less than one star! To think my wife and I have to spend eternity in this slum of a cemetary.

Terrible upkeep of cemetery. No response when you complain. Graves are growing over with grass because they stopped weed eating, roads cracked and pot holes, ruts not being fixed after a burial. Very very poor upkeep. Go to a small church cemetery. Cheaper and better upkeep.

Rip off. My dad already paid for his plot and they want $2200 to put his ashes in the ground!
