2023.09: had a lucky last camping weekend here before the almost one year full renovation of the camp structures and utilities. I hope it does not go ‘full Turtle Bay’ as the rustic facilities kept it affordable and appropriate. I haven been camping there long enough to remember the old homes that preceded the park. Fingers crossed.

BEAUTIFUL INCREDIBLE LOCATION!!! We were so happy staying here. We camped with a tent and it was right on the beach…like a 30 second walk to the water! Beautiful ocean sounds all night.

Not sure if we missed it, but we only saw a porter potty and outdoor shower with cold water. We didn’t mind either for the price ($18/night) and location.

Front desk staff was lovely and we enjoyed every second of our staycation. We will be back monthly!!

We have camped at Malaekahana almost every year since 2006. It is always an enjoyable experience, as the campground is well maintained and safe. The latest addition is a slightly grouchy security guard who walks around making sure the campers are being orderly. Highlights include the awesome beach, newly refurbished mini cabins, and the notably decreased chicken population (there used to be way too many chickens!). In the past 17 years of camping here we have never had any problems, and look forward to returning next summer.

We had a great time at Malaekahana Beach Campground. On arrival, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The campsites were clean and everything looked well-maintained. The beach was beautiful and not crowded. Our neighbors at the site were extremely friendly and the entire experience was a lot better than we were expecting for a weekend camping trip. We will definitely be going back.

This is an amazing kid-friendly campground!
The first thing that impressed me was their website describing the property so well, and then how easy it was to reserve online.
The super friendly women in the office who helped us check in were so welcoming and insightful... they seem happy to be there.
Our campsite was huge and the bathhouses were so close by and clean!
It was just a few mins walk to the beautiful (non-crowded) beach too.
We cannot wait to go back ☺
Do not miss out on this wonderful place!!!

I absolutely love this place to get away! Such a beautiful atmosphere. Peaceful and inspiring. My family loves to use this place to get away from the daily routine. We always stay in the Hales and its perfect for us! We go crab hunting at night, walk down to the river, grill food on and play games at night. This past weekend it was storming and we still had the best time ever. And its so affordable!

Amazing campground! We stayed there for 2 nights on our van & we loved it! The location is right be the ocean, you could sleep and listen to the waves! One night was a bit windy and some tree branches were hitting the van from the outside so we had to move it outside of our parking spot, just by the entrance. But it’s just nature, you have to adjust! Check in was very smooth! There are bathroom and outside showers and a sink! Please be mindful of their rules and hours! But if you get there after hours on your van you can simply sleep at the parking by the camp.

Our hale was secluded and offered us the privacy we like.
The beach is outstanding because the water is clean, there’s shorebreak and plenty of beach to share.
The staff gives the place a taste of aloha.

Love this campsite! We went camping with friends which included two newborn babies and two toddlers- and everyone slept well! The sound of the waves but us right to sleep. The location is perfect, practically on the beach, and we got really lucky with our campsite being on the grass so we had a little bit of covering from the winter rainstorm. I wish they had later check in times, our group barely made it on time after the workday. Make sure you have cash if you plan on buying wood- they only take cash. Bathrooms are VERY dark, no light, but they’re flush toilets which is nice. The port-a-potty was full and dirty so we stuck to the flush toilets. The chickens were only annoying when it came to our trash and when we sat down to eat, they didn’t bother us much in the morning. We had so much fun even though it was a quick trip for us, my husband and I are already planning our next trip with our kiddos!

It was my first time camping here and the site was just perfect. Bathrooms all around, very clean and most of the time replenished with toilet paper. Showers also near by and absolutely close to the beach ⛱. Hope to be back here soon again for a relaxing experience.

Amazing tent camping experience! Beautiful and peaceful location with amazing views! If you love getting back to nature and enjoying the outdoors without modern amenities then this place is for you. We will definitely make this a frequent location to go camping.

Best campsite on the island. Such a beautiful beach park and camping so close to the ocean was such a treat. The chickens are everywhere so make sure you don’t leave any food out for them to get into, otherwise harmless little friends.
The sunrise is not one to miss while staying here so make sure to enjoy the stunning view from the beach at least one morning.
Nice outside showers and actual flushing toilets was a plus.
Firewood available for purchase from the check in shack.
Will definitely be back soon.

This place is my dream campground! I had the most magical time there. I hope to come back with my future kids, Incredible scenery and set up ! Jungle/beach life. Super chill vibe. Beautiful Cocks all over campgrounds.
Sunrise is a spectacle there, and water is so warm.

Few suggestions, I would make sure all the hales have a lockbox, providing a padlock and key . Also I would offer at the campiground store, sheets, inflatable pillows, beach towels, sleeping bags and the option to purchase them prior arrival to find them in the Hale / Suite upon late arrival.

Beautiful campground with toilets and outdoor showers, directly on the beach. Great for tents or camper vans!

We absolutely LOVED staying here ! We decided to get a hale for a night and being able to have the campfire and be right on the beach it was stunning views (especially sunrise) the hale was clean and fairly comfortable even for me (being 8 months pregnant!) close by bathrooms were a bonus and it was super quiet !

I couldn’t recommend this campground enough. It’s clean, organized, quiet, and convenient. All sites are walking distance from a beautiful beach. The bathrooms are flush. Outdoor showers with a place to stand off the ground. We arrived a few hours after our expected time of arrival and the management had our paperwork set outside the office after hours so we could get through the gate. The manager came to check in on us in the morning to make sure we found everything. There are wild chickens running throughout the campsite so prepare for a 7:00 am rooster call that will continue through the morning. I loved it and the little chicks running around are so cute! Recommend: bring your own fire wood, bring outdoor specific toiletries that are safe to rinse into the ground, and a tent fan!!

Such a fun experience!! Camping right by the beach!! And the beach is beautiful and not super busy. We stayed in one of the huts. It had 2 bunk beds and not much other space but had a cute little camp table and fire pit. We had a blast!!! Remember it is camping so take care of your food. We had a problem with ants in our bread. They do have flushable bathrooms (they are the red and yellow and blue buildings) and Porta potties and the showers are more of rinse off stations usually closed in with tarps. Also if you want the door locked in the shed, you'll have to bring your own lock but it has to be small because the lock is near the wall. We were 2 young girls and felt totally safe and had a blast exploring. The gates do close at 7 however so make sure your car is inside by then. But a 5 minute walk away are shops and food trucks and right outside the campground is a bus that takes you everywhere for $3. Definitely would recommend this campsite and watching a sunrise on the beach!!

Have a great variety of camping and simple cabin options. Real steal is the $10 a night camp sites. Hostels on Hawaii are $35 minimum and hotels are $100 minimum. Great for the traveling backpacker used to cheaper options in Asia/Australia and just a short bus ride away from all the breaks in the northshore. Kahuku food trucks are close by. Camp is clean and in a beautiful setting.

My Wife and I stayed here for several days and would recommend it to anyone. There are some good food trucks within walking distance. Beautiful beach we rented a van, set up for sleeping left our back doors open, and listened to the ocean waves. We’ll be back!!

Our go to camping on Oahu. Just beware- no private showers, electricity or personal spigot (there is a spiggot shared between a couple sites though and a sink to wash dishes). Totally worth it, just bring a couple power banks!
