Visited VHIS with my mother to treat acute spinal stenosis. Dr. Lam was very thorough and methodical in his approach to evaluate her condition and very careful to advise a treatment plan with other physicians. Dr. Lams bedside manner is top notch. He took extra time to explain the condition, complication, and possible paths of resolution. Dr. Lam showed compassion and we feel that he truly cares about the patients that he sees. Highly recommended.

Dr. Lam’s office staff and PA were easy to reach, understanding of our situation, and professional. In cooperation with the other doctor in the office (during Dr. Lam’s vacation), they acted quickly to get my grandmother the pain relief that she needed. Our family is beyond grateful. Thank you guys so much! We recommend this clinic.

In some serious pain with my back. He has the mri that shows disc problems and prescribed me arthritis cream, then when i told him that wasn't working he gives me an anti-inflammatory thats basically ibuprofen. I'll be finding somewhere else to go.

I thought Dr. Essaff was the greatest. Until I didn't want his steriods shots that didn't help and he kept pushing physical therapy when I'd already been for 14 months. I'd told him repeatedly all my joints hurt until his assistant finally sent me to a rheumatologist where I found out I have psoriatic arthritis. When I told dr. Essaff about this he said I could not have PsA because I didn't have skin conditions. Then denied that I could have ankylosing spondylitis even though I had tested positive
for the hla b27 gene. Very disappointing. His front office staff and nurses are wonderful.

Was late to my 2nd appointment which was my fault. And was told that they could not see me. So I insisted and finally they asked the Dr and was told I could be seen after her she saw her on time appointments. I had also mentioned that is was ironic that at my first appointment the Dr was over 30 min late and I had to wait for him. I expressed my appreciation many times for fitting me in.
Well today I get a bill for $25.00 saying I missed my appointment, really? They did see me and I am sure all the rest of the scheduled patients were seen. I am also sure they billed my insurance on time though. Very disappointing since the Dr and his PA were very nice. But will be looking for another Dr.

When I had my first appointment a few years ago, the doctor was extremely interested in my well being and all went well. He told me that he would always be my dr for my back issues. I recently had an appointment just to get some fmla paperwork filled out. No big deal right? Wrong. The PA took me back and basically told me that they could no longer see me because they can't do surgery to fix me, that I should be in pain management. Ok, then why didn't they tell me before I got there and wasted my time? So I left my paperwork with them not knowing that they would never get done. One week later, they called me and told me that because they no longer were able to help me that they weren't going to fill out the paperwork. Keep in mind there was a time element attached to this paperwork. They charged me $50 for a co-pay for a 3 minute wasted visit then $25 for paperwork they had no intention on filling out. I was told that I would be reimbursed for the $25 at a later date only after I called and requested the refund. I would have recommended this office at one point to friends and family, but now I am just disgusted with the whole place. The PA was snobby and blunt. The only person who was able to answer any questions I had was Melissa. So sad. Thanks for absolutely nothing!!!
