Looking for a Puerto Rican place to eat I went here after a friend found them on the Internet. I am from FL and went to Richmond VA on a personal trip. Not knowing anything or any place around finding this place was amazing. I ordered mofongo with fried pork, ham croquettes, meat turnover (empanadilla), and he ordered asopao de pollo (chicken soup), arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas), pork chop and salad. We were delighted.☺🇵🇷❤

They were super busy when I went in to place my to go order. It did take a little bit to get my food. But like I said they were busy. I ordered the pastrami sandwich, beef empanada, beef fritter, the beef potato ball, and the cream cheese flan. This was so much food for 35 dollars. I did not expect the sandwich to feed 4 people. I personally didn't care for the fritter. But the rest was fantastic! Delicious doesn't even begin to cover it. I wish I lived beat by so I could get this more often.

Heard so much about this place. We decided to stop by for lunch. Upon entering the restaurant was very clean and tables were spaced out. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. Also the young guy was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered grilled chicken breast with white rice and beans. My wife ordered fried snapper with yellow rice and peas plus sweet plantains. Reasonable prices and the food tasted so darn good. We also ordered fountain drinks. Powerdade. Bathrooms were clean and dining area was also clean. Will definitely be back soon maybe next week. Highly recommend.

The food at this establishment is my favorite in the Richmond area. The last visit I had the Mofongo with roasted pork which was amazing, and it was my wife's first visit and she had pork chops with Chinese rice and absolutely love it. If you don't mind taking a drive to Colonial Heights, Puerto Rican Bakery is worth the trip.

Some friends and I came here to eat and to practice Spanish together - we had a wide range of comfort levels with Spanish - some were native speakers with Spanish as their first language and some were just beginning to learn. The employees were so kind, patient and helpful as we ALL ordered our food in Spanish, even though the employees clearly spoke English.

The food, according to a few Puerto Rican friends with me, is legitimately authentic Puerto Rican food. The fresh juices and bakery items are exceptional so coming for just a snack is also a great option. All the food we had was delicious. We will definitely be returning.

This is a hole in the place, but the food here is wonderful. The food is cook after you order it so it takes awhile to get the food, but it is worth the wait. The employees here are extremely friendly and helpful and will help you with our order if you are a first time visitor. The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is very inviting.

Oh my! Where to start. First I definitely recommend Puerto Rican bakery for lunch, a coffee and snack or ordering 🇵🇷 food for the holidays or a special event. For Thanksgiving and Christmas they are my favorite.

The plate of food was $11.99. The mofongo plate was $7.00. I HAVE NOT HAD PRICAN FOOD THIS GOOD IN THE UNITED STATES EVER!!! Or this affordable for THIS MUCH FOOD! I mean the plates were FULL! God bless your business! I will drive the 4 hours to see the in-laws way more often now! This is the flipping taste of my island. This is HEAVEN!!! I might have shed a tear or two eating this! I also got a flan de queso, so let me go dig into it!!! 🇵🇷❤❤❤

Great food. Portion size will have you asking for a to go box. The service was outstanding. Very pleasant atmosphere situated right of the boulevard but you have to use your GPS or you might miss it. Please don't miss an opportunity for some delicious food. Great job!

The food was good, though my empanada was not fully cooked. The rest of the food was good. Best in VA.

Reminds of some of my favorite Puerto rican spots I would frequent in South Florida. Definitely worth checking out and I will be back! Might be my new favorite!

Picked up some coquito and had a quick late lunch - both great! Garlic chicken mofongo and an alcapurria definitely hit the spot. Waited till home for the coquito, but it was just as tasty. And a couple of pastelillos de guayaba for breakfast were lovely too! Always nice folks and real boricua cooking, can’t beat it.

Wow! Authentic Peurto Rican cuisine in Colonial Heights!?!? My wife and I (she's Boriqua) traveled from NJ to VSU when she spotted this restaurant. We came back for dinner and the food did not disappoint. It's hard to find flavorful ethnic food in the south. However, this restaurant/bakery breaks the trend. I had the mofongo with shrimp and some pastries for dessert.

Puertorican cuisine. The flavors are on point. The atmosphere 👌 bien criolla. It feels like you are in your backyard 😉. Great service

The food is delish and fresh. Pastries are out of this world. Both pictures are off the daily menu, both have arroz Con Gandules and sweet plantains on the left is crispy fried chicken bites. On the right is a fried pork chop with red onions.

Found this place on google maps on our way from NC to MD. Had great reviews and did not disappoint. Probably the best empanadas i have had outside Puerto Rico...i see why they are also a bakery. Lunch was the Cuban sandwich that came with herbed fries, and shrimp/octopus mofongo bowl. Both were delicious. The Cuban was so big it will give one of us lunch tomorrow. Will be saving this location for when we pass through the area again.
