The museum was small. But big enough. We could read everything, without feeling overwhelmed.

Very nice, but if you are used to going to the battlefields and walking through the exhibits for free, you will be surprised that this one is 15

If you love this great nation and that which is our rich history of Americana, than this is a must see. To touch rifles of our fore fathers is awe inspiring, to me at least

I had not been there in a couple of years. Looks like a completely new museum. Interactives, educational and unique.

Beautiful museum tucked into Old Town Winchester. Located inside the historic courthouse in the center of the Old Town Mall, the exhibits rival any of the DC museums you can visit!

They have completely redone the museum the past year (it doesn't look like the current pic). It's right on par with a Smithsonian museum now. It is incredibly done and has a great amount of information and artifacts. I highly recommend a visit.

The Shenandoah Valley is quickly becoming a favorite place for me to visit and to learn about its Civil War history. Went to Cedar Creek two weeks ago, visited here yesterday, and 3rd Winchester today! This museum takes what you see on the battlefield and puts artifacts and more stories of what was happening in the Valley. I loved looking at the Court room, seeing up the bell tower, and seeing the graffiti on the inner walls from the Civil War era. Definitely a cool building with a nice gift shop to boot! I bought a t shirt for the Shenandoah battlefields organization and my girlfriend bought one for her and another for her dad. (picture is from a couple weeks ago, April 14th)

I live in Australia & had to visit this, as my late US Father told me so much about his loved Virginia. In my view, this is stunning & so much to see, staff extremely great & showed me all around... definitely worth visiting.. the building itself is a credit to the all the builder's involved in building.. very nostalgic & loved it.

This place is definitely worth a visit! The exhibits include a remarkable number of artifacts recovered from nearby battlefields. I liked that the numerous battles fought in the Shenandoah Valley were humanized by including quotes from those who were actually there. My favorite part was the preserved graffiti left on the plaster by prisoners of war. As I said, worth a visit.

So cool! The museum has thousands of artifacts from the Valley campaign and displays them in the unique, beautiful, old Winchester courthouse. You'll spend about an hour here. There is also a very neat little museum store that is worth visiting.
