Tropical Island Coffee & Cafe

I ordered the jerk chicken and my boyfriend got the oxtails. Food was amazing and the owner was very friendly and welcoming. The jerk chicken was a lot spicier than I expected, but very full of flavor! We also ordered fried plantains, a mango smoothie, one of the Jamaican coffees, and a beef patty to go. We will definitely be returning!

Mr. Lloyd is such a wonderful man! We had such a great conversation with him and really made us feel at home in his restaurant. Not to mention, the beef and chicken patties were delicious!

Great place! The owner is super friendly and has lots of interesting stories to tell. Food was super good and flavorful! Beware, if you are sensitive to spice, maybe dont get the jerk chicken 😅 I am no stranger to spicy foods and it had me crying and sweating by the end of it!

Now, this was probably one of the best highlights of my visit to Winchester. Service was perfect...and I mean perfect. The food was on point, hot and spicy. I felt like a regular even on my visit. Better than that, I felt like family adjacent. I wish I had taken pictures. The jerk chicken and oxtail was super tender and juicy. The plantains were iron skillet fried. I can't say enough about this place. Go visit. You will not be disappointed.

Really nice place to eat! Service was awesome and food tasted great. I got the Jerk chicken and it had a wonderful taste. A little spicy. Empanada was flavorful. I got a raspberry slushy and it was ok. The people there were so sweet. They kept check on me. Would definitely go back!

Delicious food in an eclectic setting with great vibes. The owner is super friendly and helpful. We loved talking with him. Great variety of coffee and tea and the best coffee ever = Jamaican Blue Mountain. Great ice cream, snacks and Jamaican sodas.
We came back the next day for goat and ackee and salt fish for breakfast. Sooooooo good! The home made pound cakes are incredibly moist and the fried plantains are not to be missed. Highly recommend for a great, relaxed, corner store vibe. I wish Tropical Island was on my corner!

The smoothies were really good. The variety of drinks in the cooler was impressive. The menu options were nice, and the tea and coffee opens were numerous. And most importantly, the staff was really super friendly. It's a cozy place, but didn't feel cramped. Wonderful little island escape right in the middle of Winchester. I'll be happy to go back for more smoothies and snacks soon.

This is by far my favorite restaurant. I live an hour and a half away and anytime we are in Winchester I get the jerk chicken and a meal to go for my lunch the next day. The employees are very friendly and always cheerful. I recommend this place to everyone.

One of the best of places to go to for great Jamaican food. The owner is such a character and a great person to talk to for a long time. The staff are very nice and the food is amazing. Couldn't ask for more. I got the jerk chicken and Jamaican patties. Since the food was so good, I ordered the ox tail and another thing if jerk chicken for my family to try.

Very good authentic food and smoothies and very great friendly service! Lovely little hole in the wall cafe will be back when we are in Virginia again :)

my sister and i came here and we absolutely LOVED IT, the food the delicious and hot, lloyd was awesome i’ve never felt so welcomed in a restaurant before like i was welcomed here would definitely recommend !!!

Fantastic authentic Jamaican food. Lloyd absolutely knows what he is doing. Best jerk chicken I've had in my life, my buddy got the oxtail and he loved it. We even got extra food to bring home for later. The coffee is great, only place I know around here you can get authentic Jamaican blue mountain coffee. I plan to stop by every time I make it this far from DC

Great little hole in the wall. I came in for a quick coffee before a meeting and ended up having 2 delicious empanadas, a slice of pecan pie AND delicious coffee. Definitely going to return to try the oxtail!

Great place, lunch specials are wonderful. I would highly recommend the jerk chicken and the curry chicken, as well as the ice cream (vanilla, coconut).

Like it was day one when i first walked in ten years ago! I'd give it 10 stars if I could. The closet thing your gonna get to Jamaica, here in Winchester Virginia.

Always visit here when we come to town. Jamaican-style, blue mtn. Coffee and meat pies are a must. Lloyd the owner remembers our family and is gracious and warm. This is a must visit for a quick drink and/or authentic Jamaican food. Modest prices and quality food makes for excellent values.

The owner, Mr. Lloyd was cooking a fresh pot of oxtail when I called. Because I didn’t have the time to wait, I didn’t go through with my order this time, but I will most certainly be back! When the craving for hits, you must feed it at Tropical Island Coffee & Cafe! Best flavor and experience! Great conversations to be had with Lloyd. Service with a big smile! Will stop through again soon!
