Going to Old Salty's requires commitment because it is definitely not on the way to wherever you might be going, unless your destination happens to be Hooper's Island. If you haven't visited that part of Maryland before, it is a worthwhile trip just to see what the islands and marshes look like.
The food was very good. I had a crab cake, which some may say is a little expensive, but it was better than most that I have had and overall it was well worth the price. There was live music when we went (80s cover band called Fast Times), which we enjoyed. I don't know what to say about the view and the sunset other than it was amazing.

Everyone was a delight and the food was great. I love seeing snakehead on the menu and it tasted great. Nice relaxed atmosphere as well.

It’s a bit pricey but what a great place to be. Staffs are so friendly and extra nice, more like a friendly neighbor. Food was so delicious! Everything that we ordered were so tasty and delicious. Crab dip was so scrumptious, boiled Seafood Plater was so juicy and tasteful, seafood nacho was so full of seafood, crab cake was one of the best that I’ve had… Kids had so much fun playing games and we all enjoyed the scenery. What a beautiful place!

Everything was deeelicious!! Loved the warm rolls & butter. The cream of crab soup was amazing! We had the fried shrimp basket, stewed tomatoes, and Coleslaw - and it was great! Our Server Lanie was awesome too!!

Great atmosphere, great food. Everything is fresh and they have a great drink menu too. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, Did I mention they have a Tiki bar outside? Summer Saturdays also have live music in the evening. Super friendly staff.
If you're visiting Blackwater it's worth the drive to come here for a meal.

Off season visit. High tide after 4 days of wind had several roads flooded. We wondered if it would even be open. It was. The lump crabcake was all lump, no filler, and the most divine crab cake EVER! Nothing I have ever had comes even close. Absolutely exquisite! The baked pineapple side confused me upon arrival— looked like bread in a dish. Ah, but the bread, pineapple, sauce combination surprised me. Sweet and delicious! And the warm fresh rolls—oh my goodness! Only 2 other tables occupied on this cold and windy day in the late afternoon but the food and service was still superb. Definitely a place not to be missed.

We were traveling through the area and a local recommended we see the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and stop by Old Salty’s. What a great recommendation. We pulled into the parking lot where a wedding was obviously about to begin (great venue!) and bypassed the outside tiki bar for the interior bar hoping to catch some NCAA football. The staff was very busy with the wedding and catering but took immediate care of us. We ended up staying over 6 hours watching football, drinking beer and eating some amazing food (must try the baked pineapple!!). The bartender/manager Jeff was a hoot and although he was slammed, took the best care of us. All of the staff was great and you can tell they enjoy working for such a great place. The owners - Matt and Melissa- AMAZING! They both took time to come chat with us and share their stories. The food was great too! We shared the crab cake covered with imperial sauce, grilled with mozzarella sauce and made with love. If you’ve read this far of this review - let me just mention the sunset 🤯. Beautiful and absolutely picture perfect. Great people, great staff (keep an eye on Mary!) and great location!

All I can say is bring your appetite! The seafood is delicious and the portions are huge! This restaurant is what the Maryland shore is about. Good food and great people!

Buses actually bring people here because it is that good. Everything we had was perfectly made and super fresh. The service is impeccable, the staff never stops moving and they take care of their customers. We saw lots of to go boxes, like I said the portions are huge! You get your moneys worth and more.

Definitely worth the trip. The scenery is amazing and the location awesome.

Fantastic seafood and family restaurant on Hooper's Island MD. Cream of crab soup was outstanding. The best crab cake I have ever had. All crab, no filler at all. Great desserts as well. A bit of a drive, but worth it. Great place to go after time spent at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Great staff. Plenty of parking. You need to go. Highly recommended.

We visited this restaurant today and were blown away by how great the food was! It was worth the 75 minute drive from VA! We had the crab dip and brisket nachos for appetizers and the Delmonico steaks for our entrees. It all tasted amazing, the portions were generous and the staff was wonderful. We will definitely be back often ❤

We had lunch here during a trip to the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge and enjoyed the food very much. All the crab dishes were delicious -- crab ball appetizer, crab cake entrée and crab imperial topping on perch, followed by an excellent brad pudding dessert. The views are very nice as well. Hope to come back whenever we're in this neck of woods.

My Dad & I were greeted with smiles & enthusiasm. Our server Elena was wonderful. Food was awesome, we both had the seafood platter. Best mashed potatoes I ever had. Mojito was spot on!! Photographer was a nice touch. Cant wait to visit again!!

Absolutely wonderful early dinner. Staff was attentive, food amazing! We went to celebrate our 30 year anniversary.

Worth the trip everytime. Plenty of room for parking and seating. Also has a full bar and a giftshop. The food is absolutely delicious. There is something for just about anyone, even kids. The wait staff are good and super friendly. On top of everything, didn't even let our drinks go empty. Could arguably be the best food and service on the Eastern Shore.

We ate lunch on a Wednesday and had a large crowd of 6. The service was slow bit the food was good. The atmosphere is amazing! Worth a stop if you are in the area.

Had an excellent dining experience! The stuffed oysters were delicious and the Chicken Chesapeake was the best I've ever had, same goes for the crab cake, soft crab and crab imperial! I would and have recommended this restaurant to everyone! It's worth the drive for a real eastern shore dining experience!! A+

My fiancée and I stopped in for lunch yesterday and had an awesome experience. While we were a little surprised by the higher than expected price point, after enjoying the fresh as hell seafood, we understand one must pay for quality! Killer crab cake sandwich; all meat, no filler. AMAZING soft shell crab sandwich too; perfectly, lightly fried (not one, but TWO crabs on white bread with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo). Our server cracked us up with her myriad of stories and local, small-town pride. We highly recommend!

Ps. We inquired about a catering menu, but the owner was “in a helicopter” circling the skies above the restaurant. This is not an exaggeration. 😂😂😂😂

We were stranded and the owner of this place picked us up, served us food and drink after hours and were nothing less than hospitable. 100/10 recommend. We will be back & will likely make it our wedding venue

Beat the rain down here. Great Cream of Crab with lump and old bay. Crab dip was good too. Crab balls were excellent but could been in fryer for 30 more seconds. No problem, gonna take the rest home and throw them in the air fryer for a awesome snack later. 5 stars date night for not so newlyweds :)

A long trip down but well worth it. The crab cakes were absolutely delicious as was everything else we had. The view spectacular. Planning our next trip down already. Very large menu.
