I read the previous review, and felt compelled to write one of my own. I've shopped at Loaves and Fishes many times. I've found a myriad of treasures to take home and bring back to their best condition... I love tinkering, repairing old things... and frankly... this store is a tinkerer's treasure chest. It's not a Wall Street store, it's a community mission. not for profit facility that sells what it sells to cover the costs of services provided to those in need. As they say on their own website, "Loaves and Fishes of Beaufort strives to serve the needs of our community in the best and most effective way possible while bringing Glory to our God. We envision more churches, organizations and individuals joining us in the cause of helping others in Jesus´ name. Our goal is to minister to the whole person, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually." Loaves and fishes provided a program called, Backpack Blessings for children with real needs in the local schools. Loaves and Fishes is the support behind the Harker's Island Food Pantry. The Food Bank of Central & Eastern N.C. provides a “mobile pantry” at the Harkers Island Fire Department at 1219 Island Rd. The pantry is held on the last Thursday of each month at 1pm. Food items include fresh vegetables, non-perishables and many other items depending on availability. and the L&F food pantry right there at 1700 Live Oak Rd. I've seen the families that have received help... and trust me... they are appreciative. Loaves and Fishes provides a residential treatment program that is a Christ-centered program for men struggling with substance abuse, and what they are doing IS working.
I've seen some of the success storied. Outpatient counseling is also available for men and women struggling with substance abuse.
So, no, it's not the fanciest store around... but for one who is willing to actually look the treasures abound. Not only with the things that one can buy and restore... but to me just as important, are the lives that they help restore. I am quite certain that I will visit that amazing store, many times more. Love the clothing side. Always able to find jeans for work. Nice selection of jewelry too. I love the Christian music that plays it’s very soothing to a troubled soul. Thank you for what you are doing to help recovering addicts in our community. Everyone deserves forgiveness and a second chance, if they truly want to turn their lives over to God. God can and will do for you, what you can not do for yourself, if He is sought. May you find Him now. Sincerely a recovering alcoholic.

I arrived at this location by a roundabout way. I am glad I found them. It was shortly after the passing of Hurricane Florence. I had headed out to drop off some food, blankets and sheets to a local location set up for such things. When I got there I found out that they were only taking food, not the blankets and sheets until four days later!

I pushed on to Beaufort to three other locations - all of them were closed. I stopped at a local relief office and they sent me to Loaves and Fishes. Then I learned about all the wonderful work they do there - disaster relief, food, clothing, drug counseling, faith work - just a wonderful place to be. We dropped off our donation with these excellent, loving and strong people at this great shop!

Thanks for all the hard work, folks. Whether you are looking for something reasonable and of quality to buy or would like to donate something - then this is the place to go.

A fun place to go and check out, and kind of a community endeavor. In addition to the usual, they've made themselves available to those that really need help, for they have a little bit of everything, including some very nice things donated by many from their church family and the community. Very friendly and helpful. If you have items to donate, they would be put to good use here!

It was my first time and I will be going back. Shopped at both stores and only spent $9 on about an easy $100 worth of items.
