Andy’s is the quintessential old-time gas station - hanging on in the face of all the modern changes that Burnsville is experiencing.

They offer every kind of gasoline or kerosene or diesel gas that you could ever want. The staff are true country people: humble and sweet and kind and knowledgeable. Their prices are good – at least competitive with the other gas stations in the area.

When the state widened 19E 10 years ago, Burnsville’s new prosperity and the influx of city people - vacationing, retiring, and buying up property all through Appalachia - brought extreme competition for this little country gas station.

Two very large petrochemical companies put in glitzy gas stations and convenience stores - with huge signs, and accepting Shell Oil cards, etc. Only a couple of independent gas stations are still managing to survive.

The widened interstate has a median running down the middle that makes it impossible for northbound traffic to even make a left turn into Andy’s.

I try to give them my business every time I can. Yesterday I needed 1-pound canisters of propane for the space heater in my camper van. The big hardware store and big regional grocery store were all out of propane and blamed a distribution problem.

I was facing a very cold night in my camper van, but one of the locals told me to try Andy’s. Sure enough, they had my propane - and me and my little dog had a nice warm, toasty night in the camper. For that one experience alone, Andy’s has earned my loyalty.

Wonderful Burnsville original! Stop by and see what a real country store looks like! Friendly folks, they have everything a convenience store should, and then some. This is a family-owned independent service station. Their gasoline and diesel prices are comparable to other stores in the area, but hands down have the best kerosene prices in town. How good you ask? Andy's was $3.56 while at other service stations you'd pay $3.99. Support this independent store when you can!
