UCO Visitor Parking

Easy access to Mitchell Hall and campus from ADA parking. Plenty of solid sidewalks. Observed man in wheelchair with only his service dog going from his vehicle on campus ADA walkways to the back entrance to Mitchell Hall. He seemed to have no problem. Commendable to UCO's grounds design.

Well lit parking lot that is a Pay Lot with multiple kiosks available enable to pay for your parking.

Excellent parking, looks well lit and safe. Parked near the bookstore and I just waited while my wife went and picked up her books. I am not sure how much parking costs but I believe it is kiosk pay if you do not have a parking pass.

I followed the signs that all said Visitors parking…until the signs just stopped. It switched to PayLot, but it was a bit confusing on whether or not that was for visitors or not because it mentions using your license plate. I kept driving around, nothing specifically said Visitors, and I had 3 minutes to get inside to make my appointment, so I parked in a very empty lot. It had a sign for faculty on one side but I wasn’t sure if the other side was included, so I parked anyway. I was gone for 49 minutes total in my Appt. I did get a $30 ticket which more clearly explained on the back that the PayLot is, in fact, meant for visitors.

My suggestion would be to include one word “Visitors” across the top of your PayLot sign to avoid any confusion.

It may have saved me from being late to my Appt and saved the officer the time of writing a ticket. They didn’t make $30 off of me because I called to have it reduced to a warning being a first time offense. Let’s just consider mitigating it to begin with. Good for thought.

Very confusing lots and lot numbers. Unsure if there’s free parking on campus.
