What a great chicken fried steak! My kids and I shared this huge meal, crispy fried steak, tasty potatoes and gravy (on the side on request, perfect for me!) and than everyone chose a slice of pie. The Cake Lady stopped by to make sure everything was great and chat! Friendly and great tasting!

We ordered a cherry and a pecan pie for Thanksgiving. There was some confusion with the order and one pie was not made. Donna came in on Thanksgiving morning and baked the most delicious pecan pie for us. She went over and beyond. The pies were some of best we have had. Thank you for complimenting our Thanksgiving

Great family atmosphere! Everything I've had has never been less than amazing. Cakes, pies, cookies, and well the whole menu is made from scratch and made with love. They also have homemade jams and jellys that are out of this world. Fresh home grown vegetables as well. Love stopping in everytime I'm in town. The owner and her family are very welcoming they treat you like family as soon as you walk in. I highly recommend this restaurant. You tastebuds will thank you for stopping by. Prices are great and portions are of plenty.

Nice little place. I had a meat lovers omelet, they serve breakfast till 10:40 and then lunch till they close at 2pm.
They make their own pies and can make any kind of pie you want. Challenge accepted right? 😁
The pancakes are big, plate size and you get 2 of them.

We were warmly welcomed. Food was served quickly and delicious. Recommended for anyone wanting a homemade breakfast.

The Owners of The cake Lady Bakery are So Sweet! My son wanted pancakes, but they stopped serving breakfast. They made an exception for him and made him some pancakes!!! As soon as we walked in they were welcoming us in. The food was delicious!!! We can’t wait to come back soon!!! 08/20/2023

Feels like sitting in someone's home while they make you dinner. Very intimate setting. Wait staff is wonderful especially the 30year old lady. She's funny. Cute little place. 💕 I'm sure we'll be back.

This place is like your grandmothers house. Not the Gen Y/Z "Nana" that lives in the suburbs on a golf course, but the grandmother that was raised a dirt poor farm girl and grew up during the Great Depression. The one that grew up killing the chicken in the front yard and pulling the feathers before cooking it for you and making everything from scratch. This place is like that. Chicken fried steak is awesome, biscuits and gravy were awesome...everything we had was awesome. They served our large table with ease and were the nicest people. Homemade jelly, pies, and cakes were a bonus.

The people are so friendly, the food is good and the sweets are to die for. 😋
Today's special is the best. If you're not there, you're missing it. Great on a drizzling day like today. My favorite! It's not too late. Sweetest people ever!

Im from out of town. Looking for a place for lunch today and decided on this spot, so glad I chose right! The owner was super sweet, and we enjoyed a delicious bowl of soup, burger and homemade fries, and dessert. Ate everything too fast for photos. I would be back all the time as a regular if I were a local!

Very good place to go !! The owner who served us was so warm. We were on the road and just wanted to drink coffee. We took also cookies. We felt like at home et had a nice moment.

If you’re in Mt Vernon this is a must! Chicken fry, burger, Reuben, or chicken and waffles - you can’t go wrong. And the dessert...chocolate cream pie was the best ever.

We had lunch for four. We ate on the late side and they had almost run out of chicken fried steak and fried fish. Their chicken fried steak is as good as Mary’s in Strawn, George Os in Waco or City Limits in Sherman, very affordable.

We finally made it over here to eat and I wish we would have done it sooner. Family friendly, home cooking. We sat on the porch with our pups and had one of the best meals in a while. Very cute place ❤ We will be back to try the breakfast soon!

We had bacon, steak, eggs scrambled and over easy, biscuit, patty sausage, potatoes.....all GREAT!!!!

Only been in 2-3 times in the last 4 months but every time we have gone the food is ALWAYS on point- My husband is a Chicken Fried Steak guru and he says by far the BEST he has ever had- Even better then his own grandmothers. And you can easily make 2 meals out of it! HUGE portion! I have had the burger with homemade buns and the meatloaf with fresh out of their garden peas. Yumm! You do not want to pass this place up! Highly recommend!
