Visiting this out of the way geographical marker turned out to be way more interesting and moving than I expected.
It’s a nice quarter mile stroll from the small gravel parking lot to the actual marker, but the land is beautiful and the bonus information/historical information is very interesting.
A quick picture is fun to record the moment…and there is a free commemorative medallion for each visitor to take home with you (note the free medallions are currently not at the site…still free, but you need to pick yours up in Wausau at the la Quinta suites hotel or call a phone number and pay a small mail fee)
Apparently there are only 4 such geological centers on the planet and this is the only one that is easily accessible to humans with Terri being deep in the ocean and one being in a very remote mountainous place in China. Make the stop if you are in the vicinity!

While visiting WI for my husband's ship's commissioning, he found the 45°N - 90°W location for us to explore. It was an absolutely stunning day and also an amazing experience. It was so peaceful and also educational. We had to go to the local LaQuinta about 16 miles away to pick up our commenative coin, but even that was a terrific experience. The front desk young lady was so pleasant and helpful. We even found a fantastic little place to eat in town. If you are in WI, you should take a trip out to the 45°N-90°W location.

A great informational stop along HWY29. Very interesting that this is one of only four in the world, and very accessible. It's worth the stop to see it and read the placards along the way.

So amazing if you have any interest in geography! Great informational boards here. Photo opportunities. The walk is just long enough. Very nicely taken care of!

This is the only easily accessible 45 x 90 geographical marker in the world! It is a very cool landmark. I recommend checking it out. Afterwards go to the visitor center to sign the guest book and get your commemorative coin.

A short walk but really cool. Make sure to get your coin from the La Quinta in Wausau.

Several years ago, I lived nearby and was told of this location. As an engineering geek, I was excited to visit and pleased to partake of the experience. Glad to know others feel the same way.
Enjoy!

They really should do more with this. This could be an actual tourist attraction, but it's just a sign in the middle of nowhere. Update 05/20/20:
Finally got out here again, and I am ecstatic about what I saw! This is so much better than what it was! The marker is in the correct spot. The path is very nice and well maintained. The informational signs are an excellent addition, along with the benches. Kudos to everyone involved for listening and doing something better with this area. You all did a fantastic job!
For the Go players, there is a Pokestop here at the entrance.

The uniqueness of what it is makes it a nice place to see. The grounds are very well kept and the walk down the path is easy and not far at all. They also have benches in different spots to rest or just enjoy the quiet. The info boards are informational and easy to read as well.

The exact center of the northern half of the Western Hemisphere. There’s parking and a nice path that takes you to the marker. If you stop by the Wausau Visitor Center they will give you an awesome coin to commemorate your visit.

Located in the corn fields of central WI, the marker is only 1 of 4 in the world. 2 are deep in the ocean and the other is high in the mountains of China. It's about a 5 minute drive off the main highway with good signage along the way. After parking, it's a nice 10 minute walk out to the marker.

It's really easy to get to. It's a great path and very clean.

Very interesting piece of history and geological trivia being the center of western hemisphere. You also if you go to the LA Quinta hotel you can get a coin and join the 45 X 90 club

Pretty cool to have this around. It's the most accessible of the four. Nice little trail leads to the marker. If you're coming by motorcycle you might want to come from the south to avoid gravel road but even if you come from the north it's only a mile or two of gravel.

If you can read signs and a map, and you can walk about a half-mile round trip (about 7 or 8 average city blocks), you can easily reach the marker. Not hard to find at all; signs point the way from Wis. 29 all the way there. A hard-packed gravel path from the parking area (where the old marker was) leads about a quarter-mile past a woods and a cornfield to a final lane which contains signage and information; at the end is the circular concrete pad containing both the center marker and metal strips with inscribed granite inserts marking 45ºN and 90ºW. The lane to the marker points due south, and there is very little room between the south fence and the marker pad, so unless you want the sun to your back, best photo ops are in the morning or afternoon. The quality of the hard-packed gravel is such that a BOB stroller, a wheelchair with wheels suitable for the terrain, or even a good electric wheelchair capable of going the distance on a full charge should be able to make it there and back. For elderly and disabled persons, use common sense and know your abilities before attempting to go alone.

Was a nice little walk on a sunny Wisconsin day. I've had it marked on my map for a while to come here and explore. It was a spur of the moment thing on my way by. I just saw the sign and thought oh yes that's on my list of things to do so I follow the signs, glad I did. Definitely worth a stop.

A brisk Wisconsin spring day, a few rain drops, did not detract from this geographic wonder in the middle of a field in the middle of Wisconsin! The Google Map image is quite old (as of 10 May 2021). There is now a path from the roadside parking lot to a small park with information displays and a brass marker at the exact 45°N x 90°W spot. See images.
