The River House

The cafe's location is superb, offering a delightful view of the river. We thoroughly enjoyed our time savoring coffee and delicious food while appreciating the surroundings. The quality of both the food and service was excellent, making our experience truly delightful. We had a wonderful time at the River House.

This place is so adorable and awesome! My friends and I are from Maryland and Delaware, and we were staying in a cabin in Delray for the weekend. We spent the day in Capon Bridge, and we stumbled across this wonderful coffee shop. They so happened to be having an artisan fair while we were there, and everything was perfect! The whole deck and side yard was full of local artists and crafters selling their items. The coffee shop has a delicious selection of drinks and breakfast/ pastry items. The decor and atmosphere was awesome, and the staff was very helpful and kind! I'm such a sucker for local art, so I was in handcraft heaven! Lol. Even the coffee shop itself sells local art, and I bought myself a crochet hedgehog 🙂 I'm so glad this town has this coffee shop! I hope to be able to visit again someday :)

Attended my first “chess club” event. Wonderful experience. Found a fellow with equal skill and played for an hour. Many thanks to the River House for providing this venue. Plan to make it a monthly night of fun. Oh and my wife loved the cinnamon bun I brought home for her.

Great local non-profit arts and music venue with a cafe to enjoy. The artists and musicians are always top notch. Capon Bridge is truly blessed to have this type of place in the community

We attended RIVERFEST after traveling from central New York. We were so impressed with the facility and location. The focus on community and the environment is inspiring. The River House staff and volunteers were kind and welcoming! A good place to visit and and enjoy the arts and the outdoors!

A must-stop spot for anyone visiting Capon! All of the staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The drinks and pastries we got were delicious as well! The Handmade items on display were reasonably priced for the amount of work that went into them, and were overall very unique and well made. I would absolutely recommend you check this place out, whether it be for coffee, a bagel, or better yet, one of the many artisan classes they offer.

I remember when they used to serve food and miss that. Some may have found the food expensive but this is a non-profit and the proceeds go to keep the River House up and running. I hope one day they are able to, once again, serve food and be supported.

The River House is a jewel in the crown of Capon Bridge. It's a hub of local music, art and poetry that welcomes all who enter and the patronage does the same. This place added a feeling of home to my trip to WV this September. They make great coffee and offer a little something for everyone; from bites to eat to beverages abound (even a cold local brew for those nights with entertainment). With outstanding service and friendly staff, the River House is a great place for those who appreciate local art and music with something to sip on and a fresh bite to eat.

When we travel to a different city we always ask ourselves "what should we eat" or "where to sleep". But we should also put in our travel radar music and entertainment venues that will put the cherry on top of our vacation.

Discovery The River House in Capon Bridge, WV is one of those cherries on top of your night out, date night, and/or vacation getaway. This venue showcases so many talented artists and musicians that are truly breathtaking. Each show is unique that comes along with a very knowledgeable and respectful staff and administration.

Life is too short just to be dull and sit in front of the television all day. Embrace venues like The River House that will compliment your life so much better.

This place is amazing. We can't wait to keep coming back. As a non-profit organization, they are an amazing resource to the community as a regional hub for art, music, as well as the adorable Cafe. I am in love with their little library, and sweet staff that make you immediately feel part of the community when you come in. It's such a nice welcoming atmosphere.

Great place to get creative with free provided art supplies, grab a salad and coffee, and listen to live local music. The place is warm and inviting, and the owner and staff make you feel so welcome. The acoustics are great, and there's a new porch and expanding menu.

A delight. Every corner of this space shows attention and creative expression by different ppl.
Our good friends came here first with their two kids and loved the art exhibit, the black bean burger and the kids play area esp the corner with fairies, gnomes and frogs.
We made a point of coming the next day. I got the pulled pork sandwich and the pepperoni roll for my daughter when we went the next day. The pepperoni roll was very good, the side salad with my sandwich was so fresh and delicious. The pulled pork was good though not mind blowing. I’d order it tmrw if we were lucky enough to go back.

There was a cool plant sale going on when we were there and our 3 year old did not want to leave the kids area in the corner of the place.

One of my absolute favorite places to be. The food is always stellar. There are evenings and activities for everyone in this hip yet down to earth place. The River House, its staff and patrons are a real blessing. Whether you're going to an open mic night, brunch or just passing through to create some art, TRH will not disappoint.

The River House is a unique destination. They serve food, but aren't a restaurant. They serve coffee and beer but aren't a coffee house or bar. With a few exceptions everyone you interact with is a volunteer.

The River House is a non-profit community arts center that was created by and is maintained by the community. There is a showing of art by regional artists that changes monthly and is for sale, as well as a small selection of other handmade crafts also for sale. Arts & craft workshops and/or music lessons are offered frequently, ask for a schedule or check the schedule on-line. There are also free jam sessions open to all and live music concerts by regional musicians for a very reasonable cover charge. The shows might be indoors or outside. The deck, built by community volunteers, as was the entire renovation of the building, is a beautiful spot overlooking the Cacapon River.

The food, by the way, is delicious and very reasonably priced. The coffee is good, and there's a selection of "natural-type" sodas including Reed's Ginger Beer which is beloved by many, including me. I've only tried one of the beers they offer, an IPA whose name I don't recall, but it was very good. The meats served come from The Farmer's Daughters. The baked items are from Wardensville and a small glass case always holds tempting goodies for on site consumption or to take home.

The atmosphere at the River House is always welcoming and comfortable whether you are a regular or an out of town visitor. Everyone I have ever taken to the River House has really loved it and I feel confident you will too.
