We'd been planning to eat here for YEARS and simply hadn't managed the drive (which turned out to be super easy).

Went midweek so it wasn't overly busy, but the place is adorable inside. All the staff were very nice. Our server helped us pick what to eat since it was our first visit. The pretzel was probably the best one I have EVER had, anywhere. I've never had spätzle before that I can remember but I've been craving more of this one ever since.

I ordered the Schnitzel Dietrich with potato pancakes and red cabbage and he had the Prinz von Preussen. I discovered I'm not a fan of Gorgonzola, but other than that I could eat this meal every day. The demi glaze on the schnitzel was to die for, the red cabbage wasn't sweet and was actually peppery (so yum!), and the pancakes were perfectly crispy. His Neal was fantastic as well, and neither of us could finish. Dessert was also above and beyond with some serious chocolate pie and a mountain berry mascarpone cake that might be favorite cake ever.

All in all, I literally have nothing negative to say about any part of our visit and cannot wait to go back.

We drove about 1.5 hours to the Bayren Stube, but it was worth it. The food is fantastic and our waitress Sandi was great. There were 6 of us and we all tried something different and there were a lot of yummy sounds all around the table. I didn't think about taking pictures of the food until we were already eating. Well worth the trip.

The food was absolutely delicious!!! I had leg of rabbit, wild boar and elk sausage on red cabbage with a dark German beer from the tap. The decor was amazing. Too bad I live 300 miles away...

We had reservations for 6pm and were glad we did because the restaurant started getting quite busy by 6:30. Our server was very friendly and attentive and recommended the pretzel (with beer cheese and herb butter to start) to start. It was huge, came out still steaming, and had a great soft and fluffy texture. We also ordered a side of the cheese spaetzle - also very nice with crunchy onion pieces and a creamy cheese sauce.

For our mains we ordered the Prussian Prince’s pork platter, and the Maifest special pork shank roast. The pork platter was quite good and similar to meat sampler platters that I’ve had in the past at other nice German restaurants - generous portions of bratwurst, schnitzle, pork chops with sauce + traditional sides, but I’d never seen a pork shank cooked/presented this way. It first made me think of Peking Duck because of its golden brown crispy skin, which completely covered the shank - and was slightly UFO shaped. The ‘skin’ of the shank was crispy and delicious and tasted like a pork belly was wrapped around the shank. The meat was very tender and mildly spiced. The whole piece sat on some demi-glace sauce that was very nice (especially in conjunction with mustard).

I really wanted to try some apple strudel, so we had to get most of our meal packed up to have stomach space. It was rich and sweet - thin and flakey layers of crisp pastry over a layer of apples with cinnamon whipped cream on top. We did finish that! Our meal lasted about an hour and a half, so it’s definitely a spot to enjoy your drinks and chat in between courses. We’ll definitely be back...

Service is nice. Food is great except the waiting time is a bit long. Reservation required. It’s my second time being here and love it so much.

Simply amazing. They accommodate reservations or walk ins. You can have the best beer on draft, amazing beer cheese pretzels, the best schnitzel around, and dessert. A must try!

The food is fantastic. The service is slow (in a good way), so prepare to relax. You should make reservations, even for lunch. The staff is really friendly.

This place is authentic with trophy game gracing the walls, traditional oompah music in the background, and food fit for the Kaiser! Food and ambiance you must experience for yourself. No review can do it justice, including this one.

Eating here is an annual treat for their Hunters Feast menu. It's so good it's worth the 45 min drive. I usually get the sausage sampler. The pretzel is my favorite appetizer and the apple studel is my favorite dessert.

One of the best authentic German restaurants! But since it's in the US, don't expect white spargle (asparagus) 😆. Fantastic food with a great beer and schnapps selection.

Went with friends to have some GREAT German food in Gibson City. While it's not too noticeable from the street, once inside, you immediate know this is different! From the stuffed animals on the walls that have family history wrapped up in them, to the German style decor it sets the stage for a great meal. You'll have to look at the menu for the wide range of choices. All four of our meals were amazing. The beer choices are also impressive, and the liter Stein is something to behold.

Such amazing German food and tasty beer on tap! Definitely my go-to place in the area! Save room for dessert-- their dessert tray is top notch! Not too kind to the pocketbook, but well worth the expense. Great service as well. I have literally never had a bad meal here-- highly recommended!

Some of the best schnitzel I've ever had. Also, the bread with Mettwurst spread.
