I highly recommend Salem Township Hospital to anyone, regardless if it's a medical emergency or just routine health care!!
Emergency Room: Dr. Zutshi is one of the best ER doctors that I have ever had the opportunity of dealing with, she cares and shows the utmost compassion towards her patients.
Radiology Department: I don't care if it's for MRI or Mammogram, the technicians know what they're doing and they do their jobs in a very professional manner, yet they're not afraid to take the time to joke around and giggle a little bit to put a patient's anxiety/mind at ease.
Dr. Claffey and his Same Day Surgery Team: Dr. Claffey has the absolute BEST bedside manner both as an office visit and in the OR!! His team of nurses are the best you would ever have when it comes to prepping you for a Same Day Surgery all the way to the recovery room!!

EXCELLENT JOB Salem Township Hospital, if I could give this review a 10-star rating I would!!

I've been to this hospital four times in the five years I've lived in Salem. Every time I have found the people to be friendly and easy to talk to. But the actual treatment is hit and miss. Three weeks ago my wife and I and our two small daughters went to the walk-in clinic. We were all suffering with some sort of cold-like symptoms. We only waited a short time, and when the nurse practitioner met with us she was very friendly. She examined my wife and me, and then looked in our daughters' ears and throats. She said the girls didn't need any medication, but prescribed some antibiotic for us adults. When we got to the pharmacy, we found that she'd added another prescription without telling us and without explaining what it was for or how to use it. I had to leave my wife and children in the car, so I paid for the prescriptions. When I got out to the car, my wife said that the second prescription was not one she could take, but since I'd already checked out of the pharmacy, I couldn't return it. If that weren't annoying enough, a few days later I got the hospital bills. They had billed for all four of us, including the children, separately, as though we had had four individual appointments. Charging twice for the adults would have been reasonable, but adding the children as if they'd had a full appointment was not. Total bills came to more than $600, even though the children had had only about one minute of examination together, and needed no treatment; charging full price for them added more than $300 to the cost of the appointment. I have insurance but my wife and children have an asset sharing company, which the receptionist knew when we checked into the clinic; she described them as having "no insurance" and billed it that way. As a result, I have to pay their charges completely out of pocket--and my wife's prescriptions too. We used the examination room only once and the entire appointment lasted about fifteen minutes, but we got billed four times for the one appointment. I discussed it with the business department, and was told that the charges came about because of how the receptionist in the clinic coded it; that made me think that the receptionist could have told us how they billed, or warned us that she intended to charge for the children as if they'd had a full and independent exam; if she had told us that up front, we could have made other decisions. But she told us nothing. The billing department told me that there was nothing they could do about it. [UPDATE: a few days later the person I spoke to in billing called me up to say that she'd done some research and thought she was able to work something out that would effect a discount by working through our asset sharing company. She'd put some time into it, checked with others, and asked me to come in to talk it over. Whatever the result is, I am very impressed with her effort.] A few years ago I had a few appointments with the physical therapy department. The staff was friendly but paid almost no attention to what I said about my injury and what had worked in treating it on another occasion. The receptionist told me at the beginning that the entire set of appointments would be covered by my insurance, but a few appointments later she told me that on the other hand, it probably wouldn't. (Fortunately, it did pay.) Twice in one day the equipment I was using broke and caused me injuries--they were not very serious, but that the equipment broke at all was disturbing. I finally quit coming with my original injury unaffected by anything they had done. I still had to pay the copay, which I found irritating, but chose not to argue about it at the time. Overall, I find this hospital to be friendly but unreliable in treatment and at least some of those who code the work done are insensitive to the patients' financial situation. If only all the departments were as caring and effective as those in billing! [Second update: the bills for my wife and children went through the asset sharing company and the rebilling reduced the overall cost by $70. Much appreciated.]

The receptionist at the front door is RUDE!!! After telling us we should have went in the ER entrance for the clinic WHEN THE SIGNS OUTSIDE DIDNT LEAD US TO THE RIGHT PLACE and we just needed to know where to go... she continued to be rude. Then she told us how to get to the right place it was far inside the hospital and too many turns to remember so I asked if she had a map maybe because she lost me after the 2nd elevator ride. She got huffy and said no. We walked off and found a nurse walking the halls who gladly showed us where to go. Horrible service. I have a sick kid and I just needed to get to where I was supposed to be... not be made to feel bad and told I was wrong and then not even helped. Isn’t that what the receptionist is supposed to do...help??? Someone needs to fire that woman. 2/11 @ 9am at the front desk at Salem Hospital. Brunette. Horrible person who doesn’t want to do her job.
