Dr. Ryan M. Dopirak, MD

Dr. Dopirak views his role as a healthcare provider as an omnipotent being. He knew there was nothing wrong with my shoulder before even seeing it or talking to me. As a fellow healthcare provider myself, I found this very odd. When I began engaging in a conversation about the various angles of the diagnosis, he became very frustrated, as if I was disrespecting him. He eventually just dismissed me. I only write this because I ended up going to the Mayo Clinic and they did in fact overwhelmingly agree I needed my collarbone reconstructed. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt the complexity of this issue was geared more toward a tertiary care clinic, but the communication skills and lack of knowledge, empathy, and patient centered care made Dr. Dopirak a less than desirable option. Dr. Dopirak may be good for the common 80% of everyday things but I would stay clear if the case gets more complex.
