Cardigan Mountain State Park

This mountain is a cool mountain. We hiked it today and had a great time. The lodge at the bottom is amazing and super cute. The hike was amazing. The view was spectacular wow. We had a super duper good hike - I am super tired omg.

Trail at this park is great. Took little more than an hour to get to the peak. It is up hill walk all the way and you will ask yourself "are we there yet" once you get to the peak, the view will take your breath away. It is worth it. I'll be back next fall. Highly recommended.

Great mountain to hike! 360 view at the summit is spectacular.

The hike was not to long (only about 45 minutes or so from parking lot to the top), and nothing treacherous, or super steep.

An out of the way park. Hiked to the summit on the West Ridge Trail. Great views all around with the start of foliage season. Took the South Ridge Trail down. Both trails were great with fabulous views.

Like another reviewer said about the elevation and lack of shade at the top, bring more water than you think you’ll need, a hate, sunscreen etc. I did the west ridge hike midday and it was about 2-3hours depending on fitness. Highly recommend! The views are incredible.

We went in the winter and the river froze over the trail, so it was a bit tricky since we didn't all have spikes. Took a couple falls and my friend rolled his ankle but overall it was a pretty fun hike. Tougher than expected but great views and not huge time commitment.

A great place to bring your family! The park is lovely and taken care of. The hike up Cardigan Mountain is frequented by families with children of all ages, as well as hikers of all experience levels. Bring a jacket, though - it gets cold at the summit!

The West Ridge Trail is a gorgeous leg and lung burner. Water and mud in Spring made it more challenging (wear boots or you’ll ruin your sneakers like I did). The trail can seem to fade or split at times but just when you begin to worry there’s an orange dab of paint on the tree ahead showing you where to go. You’ll be very proud of yourself when you reach the top and the views are breathtaking. Trail is officially 1.5 miles one way but offseason they close the upper road so add on another .7 miles x 2.

Been hiking here for 30+ years. Never gets old. First mountain I ever climbed.

This is a great place for a hike. Mt. Cardigan offers great views for the effort. Not too difficult of a hike, check out Welton Falls too! Also, while here you should think about hiking South Peak and Fire Screw as part of a loop.

Great short hike to a summit with gorgeous views. The West Ridge - Clark's - South Ridge Trail loop across the summit, South peak and Rimrock is a moderate 3.5 mile hike.

Always a fantastic place. Great views. Reasonable pricing if you lodge.

I didn't actually enter into the park from the entrance. I have been working on the snowmobile trail for Hardy Country Snowmobile Club that goes through part of the parks land on the north side of the mountain.

It is a beautiful place to visit, great views and is very quiet. I love the area where the beaver pond is. Picture provided.

From west side the hike is shorter and much easier than the east side trailhead. You still end up with a magnificent view of the entire region.

Truly a wonderful hike. People were happy to be there. Never disappointed with the view.
