Twisted Soul

This is by far some of the best food I’ve ever had! I ordered the Vassar Noodle Bowl and it was so full of flavor. I love the fusion of different styles to create a perfect blend of deliciousness.

I also ordered a Bubble Thai Iced Coffee. It was perfect. I’ve heard a lot about this place and I’m so glad my wife and I decided to stop in. We’ll definitely come again

I am a huge fan of their Empanadas and steamed buns! I love that they have vegan options which come in handy when we order out with friends with dietary restrictions. Only place around to get a malted banana milkshake which is out of this world. The owner is a great guy and will definitely take great care of you. Definitely give Twisted Soul a shot when you are in the Poughkeepsie Area!!

I absolutely love this place. Recommend it to everyone I know! The BBQ Pulled Pork Steamed Buns are probably the greatest thing I have ever consumed — I get them every time to no disappointment. Great variety of options for both drinks and meals, and the service is very friendly. You definitely will not regret coming here to eat.

My boyfriend and I came here for our lil monthsary and even though they were only serving to go orders, the staff was so nice and there was no wait. There was a seating area just to the right of the place and when I tell you the food here is phenomenal-- omg. I forgot to picture my hibiscus tea and his vegan ice cream cookie but those were also amazing. We traveled from far to try this place out and it did not miss. Def plan on returning here for a future monthsary.

I had the BBQ pulled pork rice bowl and it was so ridiculously delicious, I ate every last piece of rice. It’s a takeout place - only two small tables inside. Fantastic menu with lots of choices, so many different flavors, all four meals we ordered were thoroughly enjoyed and devoured.

This is a little gem. The food portions aren't huge but the flavors are amazing. Well worth the trip.

Amazing food!! I have celiac and I get the bbq pulled pork rice bowl every-time. I never get glutened. Staff is very friendly!

The food here is mouth watering and incredibly unique! I loved every bite. Definitely order the chickpea fries..they are totally addicting.

The empanadas are off the hook. We order from Twisted Soul quite often at my job. The staff is lovely. Wonderful smoothies as well.

Due to the pandemic had to order do take out. Favourite thing was the ginger lemonade. I think it's must have if you are having the steamed buns with fried chicken. Pulled pork steamed buns were perfect. Specially the sauce. This is an excellent spot for lunch. If you are looking for a heavy dinner I'd skipp because of the portion size. I'd definitely come back to this spot .

The food is absolutely amazing! The BBQ pulled pork rice bowl is my go-to when I want to treat myself or I need some stress relief lol. I am giving TS 5 stars, because the food is that good, but the primary drawback are the unpredictable hours of operation. It closes for an hour in the afternoon and then re-opens, which is a bit strange. Sometimes the restaurant will be closed for weeks at a time, seemingly out of nowhere. I understand Covid likely had a negative impact, but I haven't seen this type of inconsistency at other restaurants.

If you are walking by and they are open though, definitely try them! The food is phenomenal.

Tastebud paradise.

Visiting Twisted Soul, gave me the most delectable experience i've had in quite awhile: sampling Ira Lee's dishes and Brenda's yummy pastries, from the take out restaurant and the bakery across the street demonstrate what true passion can bring to one's inspirational focus, whatever that may be.
This culinary power couple is driven and their good vibes pervade their dishes and baked yummies and you know what? It rubs off: i've gotten several projects done after enjoying Twisted Soul's international cuisine. I have to make a new to do list now. Coming back to Twisted Soul is already number one and the next time, i will take photos because, even as take out, the presentation is beautiful.
A big shout out to the great staff as well who calmly and ensusiastically get everything together, apparently even when it's super busy.

We have several friends that recommended this place, and decided to give it a try. I called my order in at 6:40PM and the girl who took my order warned that it is a 35 minute wait. I said that's fine.

I arrived a little after 7 and was told that it would be another 10 minutes, which is fine since I was a bit early. 20 minutes go by, and my food still isn't ready. I message my wife at 7:25 to tell her that I'm still waiting for the food, and she decides to call the restaurant to inquire since I'm waiting outside. The employee that she spoke to have her a bit of attitude, and it apparently passed on to me.

I finally got my food at 7:50 with no acknowledgement of the 1 hour+ delay when I was originally told 35 minutes. I get that it was a busy Saturday night and they were obviously slammed, but the horrible service left a really poor first impression and we won't be ordering from this restaurant again. It's a shame because the food was pretty good.

It was hard to pick a dish from the menu to eat, simply because there were so many options that sounded amazing! We went for the bibimbap with tofu and kimchi and loved it.

They also have many vegetarian and vegan options available. Plus many delicious drinks!

My boyfriend and I tried twisted souls food for the first time and it was amazing!, We love it! The food is satisfying without giving you that horrible full feeling and you feel great after eating it!. I would highly recommend the Mac &cheese, the pulled pork, milkshakes, and boba tea is to die for! They are on the pricier side but definitely worth the money!

Just a little update, though I'm keeping the rating at five stars:

Since the pandemic began, the opportunity to enjoy Twisted Soul has become more elusive than in the past. They started doing takeout only, which was unavoidable back when hospitals were overwhelmed. But last time I was there just a few months ago, they still were shy of letting people take a seat inside, while most other spots were fully open. And lately, even the takeout hours seem to be getting harder to come by. I'm hoping they can get back to being truly and fully available as a normal restaurant. The crimped availability to diners has to be hurting them quite a bit as a business, and I want them to be around for the long term.

Now, onto my review from four years ago:

Good food tastes good and is good for you, with bonus points if it also expands your horizons with new ideas and flavors you will crave coming back to. Twisted Soul nails all these dimensions with verve and class.

The format is hard to classify. It is informal, modern, and quick. Lunch typically takes no more than five minutes to arrive after being ordered. Dishes, ingredients and flavors draw inspiration from southeast Asia and Latin America, but with some surprising twists from the southern soul food tradition and other cuisines.

Meat and vegan options are given equal attention, and the vegan options are equally delicious, filling, and satisfying because the dishes are built up from high-quality, whole-food ingredients. A meal at Twisted Soul will sustain you without weighing you down.

Perhaps the most surprising thing of all is the really great value. Most meals run in the $10 range if you stick with water to drink. These days, that's the going rate for just a boring, plain old meal at a diner. So, you're getting inspiring, world-class cuisine at a bargain rate.

I only give five-star ratings to truly outstanding businesses. In my estimate, Twisted Soul has earned five stars and then some.

Second time here (would be a regular if we were local). Food is nothing short of amazing and the staff was helpful. We had the Vassar bowl (pulled pork on top of spicy coconut/curry noodles). Delicious. We will definitely be back.

Amazing!!! We recently ordered food and cupcakes from Brenda & Lee for our Grand Opening event. They were extremely helpful and courteous during the ordering process, answering all our questions thoroughly and putting us at ease. Upon delivery of our order, we were beyond pleased with the freshness, superb quality, portions and taste. Nothing but rave reviews from our guests. We will definitely be back for more!
