Great auto repair shop. Very helpful and friendly staff. The owner will help you over the phone if he can, and sometimes that's all you need. Had to use a Uhaul trailer. I found out my back lights weren't working, so I could not get the trailer. They lady at the Uhaul shop told me to go to Al's shop. So I did. When I got there they were super busy, but the front desk staff looked at my truck anyway. He looked at my truck and found out my back lights weren't even plugged in. They did that for me and told me it was on the house. Now that is great service there. I recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great experience repair shop.

Our daughter attended the university of Platteville and living 3 hours away at needed a local garage. This is a great place, honest and very fair priced. If you are in the same boat, give them a chance, first class all the way!

I have been taking my Nissan Maxima to Al's whenever a problem has come up with it for the last few years I've owned the car. He, as well as his crew, are amazing to work with. They're a million times more honest and reliable than any other mechanic or dealership I've ever taken my car to for maintenance or repairs. I recently had a weird mystery problem with my Maxima, and I thought the car was done for. I even took it to the Nissan Dealership in Dubuque and they wanted to charge me $8,000 for a new transmission because Nissan said that the transmission was the cause of my problem. I wanted a second opinion, so I went to O'Reilly's here in town to have them do a quick diagnosis it. And low and behold, it was just a sensor and potentially an ABS problem. So with that information in mind, I took it to Al's to have them look at the sensor and ABS. While putting new sensors into the wheel as a replacement didn't seem to work, the crew at Al's just suggested removing the sensor completely which would disable the ABS, but make the car functional again. And dear lord, I was so grateful to get into my car after they took out the sensor and felt my car have it's power back like it should even if I don't have ABS. I would rather drive without that than have no functioning car at all. It's crazy to me that a sensor in the wheel can absolutely ruin an entire car somehow. Gotta love Nissan's ridiculous design flaw, and the fact that Nissan themselves couldn't figure that out and would rather try and charge their customer for a transmission they didn't need. But anyways, Al's is awesome, and you should always take your car there when you're having problems.

On June 30, we were approaching Platteville on 151 after driving about 1500 mi when we realized there was a noise coming from a wheel. Thinking it could be a lose lug nut, as the tires were rotated just before the trip, we found Al's Auto Service in the hope they could check torque on lug nuts. Al helped us out and found 3 lose nuts on one of the wheels. Problem solved. He would not accept any compensation for helping us out. Also, first impression walking into his shop is great. Very clean and organized. If I lived in the area, this is where I would go for all service work.

These guys are amazing and honest. I have taken my vehicles to them several times over the course of my college career and they have always provided top notch repairs. What they charge is reasonable and affordable, On one repair alone they saved me $1300 vs the Nissan dealerships estimate, and they didn't even charge me for diagnostics! Highly Recommended, Cant believe I am the first review.

I needed to get my car fixed (was making an odd noise) and couldn't make it in to my usual mechanic. I stopped at Al's based on a recommendation....I am so impressed! They drove it and then looked under it to diagnose the problem; they didn't even charge me for the time spent to do so and told me it would be about $100 to fix the flex pipe.

I went in a couple days later to get the new part welded on (a 2 hr job) and it cost even less than what they originally quoted me. My brother is a mechanic in the Milwaukee area, and even he was impressed with the cost and said it was a great deal.

Everyone I talked to was friendly, genuine, and truly took care of me. I hope not to have to go back- who wants a broken car!- but if I have any issues, I will definitely go there again.

I am a college student attending UW-Platteville and needed to get my car fixed for an issue that made it so that I couldn't drive my car home to have my dad who is a mechanic fix it. I was extremely impressed with the mechanics here as they made me feel completely comfortable being there and provided extremely fast service and were able to fix my car the same day. I would highly recommned them to anyone in the area needing to get their vehicle fixed and if I ever have any issues while I am at school again I will definetly bring my car in again.

Being a college student that isn't from Platteville, I had to bite the bullet and find a new mechanic. If any other student finds themselves in vehicle trouble, I whole-heartedly reccomend Al's. My bill was way lower than I expected, my truck was fixed really quickly, and they didn't "suggest" any other fixes that should be done. If I ever need work on my vehicle throughout the school year, I'm for sure bringing it back here
