Ye Olde English Fish & Chips

First off I know my English fish n chips. You can smell the deliciousness from the large car park at the rear.
Queue up, place your order with the friendly counter staff and find a table. Collect your order and tuck in.
Obvs the chips cannot be the same as not the same potatoes as in the UK. But they were still pretty good.
The fish and its batter is excellent. Large portion. Highly recommend visiting.
The fish cake was not what I was expecting so some regional differences there. It was more like pressed fish in batter. That was big too.

I got take out but I wish I could have eaten there. Nice casual environment. I ordered whole bellies with fish and chips. The fish was very fresh and flaky, not too much batter. The whole bellies were amazing with the tartar sauce. The fries were home cut crispy. Service was very fast. Like everything else now, a little on the pricey side but they did give me plenty of food and it was all very fresh. White clam chowder was loaded with clams and perfect flavor.

Excellent fish and chips!! Some of the best I’ve ever had. And the fries!! So good. You order at counter and sit wherever you want. They call your order when ready. Cash and card. Great experience. Will def return.

I got the seafood platter with Huge scallops and shrimp, nice piece of fish, and big beefy fries.
The front of the house were super friendly. Our tables were clean and they wiped between customers.
We will be back for sure!

10/10... pickles are the best here! Get the chowder too. 101 years of tradition. Will always make it a detour stop if I realize I'm within an hour away.
My grandparents dated there growing up and it still seems like the spot to be. They have half sized small plate options too.

All food fried in same oil. So seafood allergies should be wary of chicken and other fried options just to be safe.

Excellent fish and chips from a local Woonsocket establishment that is now over 100 years old. They know what they are doing! The baked scrod with mashed potatoes was a nice Friday special. Be sure to get the delicious clamcakes before 3 pm.

i have been going here and getting fish cakes with my parents since i was 9 years old and still go there just to get their famous fish cakes. the best i ever eaten and the best food ever.

Had a great meal and great service. A++ highly recommended for fish and chips, the full belly clams and the fries. Go have a great seafood meal! They even compped us an extra piece of fish for an unexpected delay. ❤

Worlds Best Fish & Chips are at Ye Olde English Fish & Chips in Woonsocket, Rhode Island! Going back to the 1960's when I was a kid I been eating the Fish & Chips from Ye Olde English Fish & Chips!

First time having real New England fish and chips. Everything was a little on the greasy side, but being from the south that’s wasn’t a problem for me. The fish was very tender and the breading was delicious. The clam cakes were very good and the white clam chowder was awesome. I would eat there again

I come from RI and each time we go to visit, our first stop is to Ye Old English. It has been there since I was a little girl.

A local legend in Woonsocket, open for nearly a century as of 2018. Offers English style fish and chips as well as Rhode Island staples like clam cakes, both pictured below. This is a happy marriage of English pub food and traditional Rhode Island meals.

Some complain of old oil or grease, my meal was oily, but the taste was good. Oil taste was fine. They have a large amount of customers each day which could account for oil variation.

The chips are thick, springy and slightly limp, cooked to a brown finish. This is actually a good match for the fish where you wouldn't want the crunch to overpower the fish batter.

It is seafood so prices are seasonal. I was able to get the signature Fish & Chips and three clam cakes for $14.50 in May 2018. Portion sizes are large so bring an appetite. Overall it is a good amount of seafood for the price. Hopefully this doesn't change. The restaurant appears to be committed to serving the people of Woonsocket, which is a good sign.

If you are in the Blackstone Valley area and want a good traditional meal this place is a must visit. Rhode Island overall is a great eating state from my perspective as someone from Philadelphia.

This place is super chill, but by far the best local spot for fish and chips. I had gotten a scallops and clam belly combo and fisherman's platter. Would absolutely comeback here. Have already told friends and family how good it is!

One of our favorite places in town! Authentic fish & chips dinner with HUGE portions of fish. The seafood chowder is unbelievably fresh and delicious with monster chunks of various types of seafood in each bite. Quiet, relaxing vibe. Never disappointed here!
