Heart of the North

Picked up to go fish fry order. It was ready very quickly. Once home the fish was very juicy and the fries were warm not soggy. The Cole slaw was delicious.

We had a very fun dinner. They were able to accommodate our large group of 12 ladies. Dinner and service was great.

The best food in town and service was great. This is my husband's and my favorite place to go for dinner. They smoke some of their meats for over 10 hours and it tastes absolutely amazing. The sizzling steak is my favorite. It is carried to the table still popping and smoking!

From the outside it looks like an old bar. The food was fantastic. Tonight was Italian and we ordered a dish and split it and it was still to much. Chicken and Cheese Tortellini in pesto sauce with sundried tomatoes. Yum!! Great service too.

A great place to eat! Make a reservation to guarantee a seat! Very good food especially all fish...and not your Mom's Mac & cheese...better! yum!

Food was very good and really like the decor of the building.

Excellent food. My husband and I had a burger not real hungry but was enough. The couple sitting behind us had prime rib. Looked excellent. We loved the character of the bar. Owner very nice. Ask to see the picture she has on the back of the bar of the original owner.

The food here is AWESOME! We were ATVing looking for some place to eat, seen this place and thought it was gonna be bar food. We sat down covered in dust and we were pleasantly surprised. The food is exceptional regardless of what you get. We will definitely come back. I highly recommend this place!!!

Great selection of delicious entrees and wines. Walleye on Friday is a favorite. Fun atmosphere.

The food here is utterly incredible. It's not what you'd expect to get in a bar setting. I'm partial to the seafood specials they often have on Saturday nights. Saturdays are the same nights they have karaoke with POETS, which, I have to admit, I'm rather partial to. :)

Stopped by myself at 8pm after a long day working outside. Had an ice cold Two Hearted Oberon on tap. Ordered rib basket to eat at the bar. Very good with generous portions. Service was fast and friendly. Finished with Bells Two Hearted tap. Definitely coming back.

Updating my review from 5 months ago: I stopped back several times since the last review. The food really amazes me. I can get a burger anywhere in the north woods, but not food like Heart of the North has. Loved the stuffed peppers dish and also the crispy chicken with andouille sausage sauce. I grew up in the north woods, but had to move to a metropolitan area for work. I've grown accustomed to the food selection in the metropolitan area, but still long for the north woods. Heart of the north gives me big city comfort food in the north woods. I told my family and friends, and they are now hooked on Heart of the North also.

This place serves great food at a great price. Order anything from the menu and I promise you that it will be wonderful. Love the Dugen for his great guitar and singing.

They totally different menu that you would see anywhere else up north. Pan-fried walleye with spinach I had and it was great.

We were pleasantly surprised by the menu and the food was delicious. Service was great and had live music on a Tuesday night. We will be back.

We're we're there for a small, private gathering. Loved the food! Great Italian beef and pulled pork. Staff was great. A really enjoyable time.

Mercer downtown legend same location visited preteen vacation as now adult. Courteous fast service hot delicious food.
Can count on Heart of the North for reliable good time for family or group of friends.

WOW, get in here! Extensive menu with great food you will not find anywhere else close by. The owners are very entertaining and have many events to keep you amused. Thanks for the laughs and full belly!

Great Friday night fish! Parmesan crusted baked cod was very good. Great service and free jello shots when Badgers score.
