The Sunset Inn

Stayed a couple nights latter part of March. Nice motel, clean rooms and bathrooms, friendly staff. Also pet friendly. There's a few kitties that wander the halls that may or may not "check you out." Had one walk right up to me, so he got his ears rubbed. But I digress. I got there a day earlier than expected, and they accommodated me without any fuss. Budget friendly and convenient to most anything in town. Fridge and microwave in rooms. Wifi worked good too. Plenty of cable tv channels. Pretty quiet neighborhood and decent lit parking lot.

This was a wonderful stay. The room was spacious and clean, the staff were incredibly friendly. I was surprised there was not a coffee maker in the room (there was a mini fridge, a microwave, and a non-bathroom sink in the room, it felt very much like a studio apartment), but there was coffee and tea in the lobby, so no big deal. It was very quiet, and the room got very dark, which is so important to getting a good night's sleep, especially in a place you've never been before. The view out the window was beautiful, and there were friendly cats in the lobby in the morning, which was a delight. $25 cleaning fee for pets, which they were very forthcoming about.

Felt very comfortable during my stay here. Room and bathroom was exceptionally clean! Hotel staff was very friendly and cleaned the snow off our cars in the morning before we left. Very considerate!

Staff was extremely friendly when we walked in. Felt like a bed and breakfast at a small town where everybody knew each other. Although the outside may look ‘sketch’ I can assure you that the friendliness of the staff and the complimentary breakfast exceeds expectations.

BONUS - there also is a friendly cat that walks around.

I want to share with everyone how wonderful this hotel is! it seems most of the hotels in Alamosa are chain hotels, which is fine, but I thought I would give Sunset Inn a try. I was a late arrival (midnight!) and two of the staff actually waited for my arrival! Very kind and thoughtful. Even at this late hour, they were pleasant. Check in was easy and quick. My room was extremely quiet and very clean and cozy. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and will definitely say here again. Oh, and the price is reasonable too!

Had a great experience at the hotel. The rooms were clean and had comfortable beds. The breakfast in the morning was really good. The staff was very friendly and made the stay even more pleasant - and at a good price.

We were pleasantly surprise with how exceptional this hotel was. The care in outfitting the rooms and quality of the rooms were outstanding. I don't believe I have stayed in a hotel with decorative throw pillows on the bed and the thickest and highest quality pillows. The decor was higher quality than expected. Great little hospitality area with fridge, microwave, marble countertops, and a little kitchen sink. We loved petting the kitties that lived there, too. Snowball and Smokey were so sweet. We highly recommend this place and will stay here again on another trip out west.

Another CLEAN, & GREAT OUTPOST HOTEL FOR ONLY $100.00 BUCKS🤣👌A NIGHT.
The lady at the front desk was very accommodating and personable. She even gave us an early check-in to escape our long drive from the Great Sand Dunes visit, and to escape the heat.

The location is a perfect off the beaten path hotel with a spanish building facade large parking lot, and great security. If you don't stay here, you're an idiot!!!, just kidding.

Room comes equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and a separate sink outside the bathroom, like a mini kitchenette 😉🤌 a plus**. Standing wall closet space. Great AC with ceiling fan, large flat screen TV with ample stations, and GREAT WIFI. I took a shower last night, and the water was piping HOT just the way I like it.
If you don't like hallway noise, avoid room #209 it is across the ice machine on the second floor. Even though there is a sign indicating when not to get ice at night, people will still do it.

My wife and I are only staying one night, but just when we thought this hotel was a bomb because of the price and outside look? How wrong we were!!!

We are passing through on our way back from visiting family in New Mexico. We each thought the other had made reservations, until we were about 2 hours away. We threw a Hail Mary and chose the Sunset Inn. This was just the cutest place ever! So comfortable and clean, and the customer service was impeccable! Did I mention the FRESH COOKED breakfast? Real potatoes and eggs, not that powdered, precooked stuff. 🍳 And to top it off, WAFFLES! 🤩 10/10 would recommend AND stay here again!

The check in went smoothly and the staff were very polite. Cute and well cared for cats were roaming around. The rooms are very clean. NO bugs. There was a microwave in the room and a nice TV.

Beds were firm but comfortable. Very quiet.

The only negative was that the breakfast was lacking in healthy food options. The potatoes were very greasy and there was no fruit aside from some mediocre orange juice.

Overall I liked my stay and it was a great value for the price.

So i didn’t actually end up staying here, because there was an employee error on booking my stay. It happens, I understand, but the manager went out of his way to book me a room at a nearby hotel free of charge to me since their hotel was completely full the night I had booked for. They could’ve told me too bad, especially since all other hotels in the area were booked or going for 2-3x the price of what i had booked for, but they were so kind in helping me find a place to stay so I didn’t have to scramble at 5 pm on a Saturday night. It was so appreciated, especially as a young female traveling alone. Thank you!!

Great place to stay! Staff was amazing and very helpful. Rooms are EXTREMELY clean and breakfast is 10 out of 10. The best breakfast I have had at a hotel. Cant say enough good things about this hotel! The only bad thing, was the the crabby old lady who wouldn’t leave the staff alone about breakfast and they couldn’t help that lol

Super clean motel and friendly staff at a reasonable price. My off-season travel meant the motel was mostly empty, and there were no tourists.

The rooms were very clean, staff was incredibly friendly (including the 2/3 rescued cats on property we met as well) and location is wonderful as you are close to a few gas stations, a grocery store and tons of local restaurants and shops all within 2 miles! Absolutely wonderful place, definitely planning on staying again!

This is a great little hotel. It was easy to get to. The staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds were clean and well kept. The room was a pet-friendly room; and If i didn't already know that fact because we brought our dog and needed a pet-friendly room, I would have had no idea. ZERO pet smell whatsoever. The room was clean, had a microwave & fridge and a decent flat screen TV. I see other people dinging it for one triviality or another, but day in/day out this place is worth every penny. It's not the Taj Mahal; and if anyone expected a Bellagio or Waldorf room for about $100, they were fools to start with. The price/value for this hotel is excellent. If we ever wish to stay in the area again, we will stay here no doubt. That's about the best review anyone can give - repeat business.

Newer place and very clean room. The staff were friendly. Comfortable. Seemed to be understaffed and a little overwhelmed at breakfast. Once caught up, the food was delicious. Small selection of bagels/waffles. Scrambled eggs, potatoes and sausage. Cereals. Juices, milk and coffee. A bonus was a laundry room. One ice machine and it didn’t work. This IS a pet friendly hotel. It was a surprise to see two cats upon arrival in the hallway. Pets are welcome in rooms. There was some animal hair in some places. Overall, this was still a good pit stop for me and my family on our way to Great Sand Dunes NP.
