We’ve attended the preschool story time and loved it. The kids section is also great.

This is a beautiful library and the perfect place to read a book in front of the big picture window on a stormy afternoon.

Witnessed a woman of color (with her kids) being harassed by a old white man who lost something. He didn’t even say anything to her before looking and reaching into one of her bags beside her. She was SO polite and asked him if he needed something. When he said he had lost his stuff she reassured him that the bags were hers and her kids and that’s when I jumped in and said I have been sitting here 2 hours and she was already working on her stuff. When I sat down I didn’t see anything that was left. MYbe you should ask the librarians?” And he said “they don’t know anything about anything”. I was already on my way out but I let the woman know I was letting the front staff know so she could finish her work in peace. The staff were as horrified as me. But I told them that maybe he did need assistance. We can talk about the vulnerability of our elders and how they lose things another day but going up to a person of color and looking into their bags is a sign of entitlement that I’m not down with and I’m glad that the staff here aren’t either.

Went to a meet and mingle game day. We played scrabble. Had a great time. It is a great idea that they do this! Next month on the 17 th, they will be making tile coasters 😊

We've been coming here for a couple months, now that things are opening up, post-CoVid. Cheryl's 10:30am Storytime for preschoolers is the best!!! I bring my 4 year old and my almost 7 year old, since he's homeschooling. He tends to be on the non-particapatory side of things even though he's very bright, but whatever it is about her and her storytime, he really gets into it and enjoys himself. The storytime tends to be about an hour long, which is great for us because we're often running late. She always picks a theme, a letter of the day and works it into the songs, stories, crafts at the end, etc. She will often bring props of some sort and involves the kids so there's plenty of interactive play and physical activity. Her storytimes are very well thought-out and well-planned. I'm so impressed. I like the library itself too, though I sometimes find their layout confusing and end up behind a desk where I don't belong. They have a decent play-area and little reading nooks that I can fit into to peruse books against the back wall. I also like that their educational DVDs for kids are separated so I can quickly grab a bunch that look interesting. They have puzzles to check out, which are great as well.
