19th century home maintained well. There are many artifacts that were used by Captain Flavel and family during their stay. The esthetics and architecture of the home are commendable. Feels like being in the Victorian age that you see in movies. Pictures do not do justice. There is entrance fee of $7. The visitor center also has a carriage used by Capt Flavel.

We really loved this old house and its history. Interesting place to spend 30 minutes and you learn something too. You can walk in all rooms and two of the three floors are accesible. Recommended.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Even though it was self guided tour, one of the hosts — Dennis, walked us through the entirety of the home and taught us heaps of information. Learned so much about the home and Astoria.

Our favorite spot in Astoria! A beautiful Victorian house that you self tour in the heart of downtown. The cost is very low compared to other museums and we spent about 90 minutes touring the home, carriage house and the grounds. We love the large sequoia tree that was planted by the original owners. Will continue to visit when in town!

Really charming and inexpensive visit. The first two floors were open and it was wonderful seeing how they’ve restored the house!

We have been members since 2019. This site is an essential stop over for visitors/new residents who want to know about the history of Astoria. There is settlement and there is development. Flavel was the master of development. He accomplished more than any one people could do today. The house and grounds are gorgeous, well kept up and lovingly cares for. Some days I visit just to sit and absorb the surroundings.

It was a self guided tour, but the ticket taker was incredibly knowledgeable and told us more of the history of Astoria. The house was beautiful, and the craftsmanship was outstanding.

This house is amazing. So glad we visited. Highly recommend visiting. Beautiful. Across the street is the jail that was used in the filming of Goonies, which houses a museum as well.

This house is so well preserved and beautifully furnished. I loved the tall doors and windows, amazing woodwork, and fireplaces. The bathrooms and kitchen were fun to see too! The self tour gave you lots of interesting facts to read about the house details, furniture, and those who lived there. You will not be disappointed. Oh, and the huge tree on the northwest corner was magnificent!

Wow. A beautifully well-kept treasure of the community. A lovely self guided tour.

We didn't know about purchasing a 3 museum ticket to get a discount, so make sure you ask about getting the pass for the Oregon Film Museum and the Heritage Museum.

This is an absolute stop for anyone interested in culture, history, architecture or fine craftsmanship! There is so much to see and read, the whole house is amazing. Take note of the doorknobs and door/window latches and hinges as much of it is intricate carved metal!

Just a couple blocks from Astoria's retail stores. This magnificent home was built by one of the first settlers to Astoria.

It is being restored by the Historical Society. The use of wood throughout the house is beautiful and found in all rooms.

You can tour all the rooms. Definitely recommend you take the time explore.

What a cool place to visit. We got to watch a short video and visit the main house. So much American history in this place. I would highly recommend visiting. And the tickets are affordable. We paid $7 dollars each and left with so much history of Astoria that is priceless.

This museum is definitely more for adults because kids will probably be very bored. But seeing the inside of Flavels house is very beautiful and full of Old items. Each room looks different and well designed. Definitely a fun place to stop and take a step back in time!

A great preserved 1800's mansion in a picturesque small town along the Columbia River. Be sure to watch the movie about Captain Flavel before entering the mansion. There's a separate building up the hill where you will purchase your tickets where the movie is shown, and a gift shop.
The mansion was going to be torn down, but the local historical society stepped up to save it. They have done z nice job to preserve it.
I'm not so sure I liked the "odd items" put in each room that are not with the time period (anacranisms)
Plan on a good 1.5 hrs to see it all.
