Clatsop State Forest

Navigation is questionable with permanent road closure not being accurately marked on maps, but otherwise absolutely amazing, breathtaking views and a healthy abundance of nature therapy.

Great place to visit, Saddle Mt Natural Area

The place holds a lot of magic. the trails are paved and very explanatory to where we find our way quite easily. The north end of the beach is really beautiful we love it! ❤

A little hard to get to off the main road but it’s well worth the views once you get there. Multiple logging roads lead up the pathways where there’s a lot of pull outs. Fantastic place to stay

The forest is the best place to be. Don't let people ruin it. People ruin most things.

Always absolutely stunning. Roads are a little rough from hauling, but still traversable with adequate ground clearance, very clean. Lots of tansy though :(

A day away from the insanity of the city- just hiking, hunting and gathering from the grandeur of these rain forests.

Had a blast camping up on Nikolai mountain, there is no showers or bathroom, so bring your own. Plenty of trails for riding quad's or dirt bikes, etc... It was a special occasion, my daughter got propose to on this trip 💍❤💍

I go mushroom hunting. These particular woods were more accessible in the 90s. Used to find lots of Chanterelles but less now after a big storm in 2010 or so that knocked down trees. California newts walk around underfoot.

Lush, green and well maintained trails. Saddle mountain was great but just be careful on the metal grating. It gets slippery when wet

Beautiful wooded areas to explore for hiking great for beginner hikers or an expert hiker.

How does one rate a state forest? Yes there are plenty of trees and scenery. Yes there are plenty of clear cuts and lots of logging going on. Yes you could see wildlife. Yes you can get lost if you rely heavily on GPS because GPS doesn't work to well in the woods. Get a map and go explore!

Gotta visit the rest area midway through the forest right on the highway. There is a .3 mile loop and an additional .5 mile loop that take maybe 20-30 minutes to hike. Stunning hike through the forest

Beautiful views, peaceful once off the main coastal hwy & away from the typical tourists attractions (city, beach areas) alot of fishing right now (salmon?) More than the usual charters so the journey outside the city noise & into nature was far more enjoyable than the crowd of visitors everywhere within the simple beach towns all along the coastline....
