Great organization! Super passionate volunteers that have done an amazing job restoring the steam locomotive.
The Astoria railroad is a beautiful yet almost forgotten line that goes along the Columbia River and once restoration is complete, the locomotive will take trains to areas where it's only accessible by boat or from the tracks.

These guys are great. Come down and check out their project, and donate some dollars so they can get this engine back on the rails. They are true craftsmen who don't just talk the talk, they walk the walk. The location doesn't look inviting, but don't let that stop you. When they're open, everyone is welcomed.

There are projects and then there are dreams. Think: landing on the moon. But, we did it. Didn't we? This rusty old Quonset hut contains a dream that is getting closer to reality every year. This is a portal to another world. It's not just a 1925 Baldwin steam locomotive. It's a time machine. A dream machine.

I went here awhile back in march and i have a amazing time there with my dad touring their shop. The work they do is amazing. You can really tell they love what they do and I'm very glad i was able to meet them.

I went there during my lunch you (a couple of times now). Both times I have been made very welcome and allowed to take photos, despite the fact they were totally in the middle of a piece of work on the loco. They are aiming to get it in steam for 2025, which is the loco's 100th birthday :-) I sincerely hope they do it. Hopefully if they do manage this amazing job, the town will properly renovate the trestles, over which the railway line runs, so that they are as strong as they were when first built, and able to carry the loco and tender.

Love the history (however old it makes me feel) I remember the train coming thru when I was a kid and the plywood mill would be running cedar.. the east end of town had a smell that to this moment brings me back to happier, more simple times
