They have one of the BEST Detectives from Wasilla to Kodiak Island!! Dana is the equivalent of Det William Murdoch of the hit Canadian TV show “Murdoch Mysteries”. Wasn’t a bad baseball player either back in his day!!

I was involved in an automobile accident on the edge of town. WPD was on the scene within two minutes. The officers were very helpful and courteous and helped me through the whole difficult situation and even gave me a ride home afterward.

I concur with many people, in, their growing opinion of the police. I, on a phone call asking for help - was LAUGHED at by the gal "officer" on the phone. I have called for assistance, twice, in a domestic violence issue & was REFUSED THEM COMING TO HELP "Because, you see what I'm saying? It's important, but, not so important that we need to come out." WHAT?!
I'm being chased & threatened by a psycho & it's NBD to those who are SUPPOSED to " protect & serve" me?!. The police are now their own branch of Government, picking & choosing what's "a big enough deal" (her words not mine) to come out. Drug deals going on in parking lot, children left in cars while Mom goes in for dope, all hours, never showed up. You call for help & they're allowed to degrade you by laughing at you because, they're "police". WTH are WE going to do, right?! We're just public paying them. These people are sitting on chairs, answering phones & deciding which calls get answered. Not a care beyond (catered) lunch time & getting adulation & accolades for jobs "well done". I find that, sickening after all I just said.
Dangerous & difficult job? Yes. Does it give you the right to play God, pick & choose where, what, when you'll respond? No.

Was a victim of a reckless driver. It seems I get to now be victimized by wasilla police department. They act like it is a big joke. From administration to dispatch you get computer noise or laughed at.

In February of 2022 I had a mental break and two officers decided to take my service dog from me and put her in the pound, force me into the ER and then impounded my truck. It has taken me a long time to come forward with this. What made me do it now? I have been seeing YouTube videos of them using excessive force when they had the wrong guy, then refused to acknowledge the mistake they made. When those officers took my service dog from me and put her in the pound they took off her collar that clearly stated service dog. I have never been able to get her collar back, and ever since that day I am terrified of the police now. I won’t go out in public unless it’s to get food for my service dog and I, and to continue me medical treatment. I will never forgive Wasilla Police department, I will never call for help, and I will always make sure everyone knows that this police department is corrupt. Wasilla Police department you are an embarrassment. Do better.

Waste of time calling for help if something is stolen, they will just make it harder for you. A big waste 0f 2.5% city tax to fund this police department. Just as bad as the lowlifes out here pretty.much good for nothing and cost a bunch of money

I am not sure what this department actually does. We are quiet citizens with no significant interactions with the police. However, every time we call (maybe once a year if that), they have offered no assistance whatsoever. Apparently, enforcing city code for noise complaints, damaged property or other common neighborhood issues isn't something they feel they need to address. I fully "back the blue" but this department simply isn't worth the effort. For the life of me, I can't see how they assist our neighborhood in any way.

They clearly need to learn how to de escalate…. The officer that illegally detained Mr Bell should be held accountable and Fired.
I hoped they get a lawsuit for civil rights violation.

I do not blame people, any longer, for their disappointment & distrust in the department.
I've only ever called them twice: 1st time - They said "If it we're a bigger deal, we'd come out." That was a domestic violence issue.
2nd: Inquired, as to why, I was not receiving help - the gal argued with me & told me I was doing it wrong, they're SURE I'm mistaken, blah-blah. REALLY?! Don't blame people for how you're received in the public, if, you don't want to "Protect & Serve" said Public, until it's a big enough problem for you to come out of the building/car.

I want to start by saying that I support law enforcement 100% and appreciate the very hard work that WPD does, however I am very disappointed with the Wasilla non-emergency dispatch.

I called the non-emergency dispatch yesterday, 07/15/19, to report a suspicious disabled vehicle in my neighborhood. My call was answered by a woman who treated me as though I was wasting her time. She even very sarcastically asked me what I thought was so suspicious about it. Come on lady, I gave you the vehicle description and license plate and I’d bet money that WPD is likely very familiar with the history of the vehicle/owner.

I'm very frustrated that as a homeowner and tax payer I am treated like a joke when going out of my way to do the right thing and call these things in.

Wasilla disptach - you should consider hiring people with better attitudes.
