Perfect for a winter weekend getaway when you start feeling stir crazy at home! Gracious hosts, cozy setting, tasty breakfasts, and an interesting story of how the current owners came into the business. I would love to return in the summer and kayak the Crystal River which runs right alongside the property.

We spent a long weekend here and were very impressed! We stayed in The Coop, a very cute cottage that sleeps two. The grounds are gorgeous and the inn is situated right on the Crystal River, providing great views. Breakfast was very good and Paul and Shayna were happy to accommodate our dietary restrictions. We especially loved the cats who live at the inn! I can't wait to return next summer.

Spent two romantic nights at the Crystal River Inn, away from the stress & noise back home. It is so quiet & peaceful at the Inn. Paul & Shayna were wonderful hosts, the breakfasts were delicious and our room was just right for us! It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary. We look forward to returning next year!

My husband and I were visiting an elderly friend in Waupaca. We needed accommodations for one night. We were so pleased the Crystal River Inn provided this option, which is unusual for a B/B.
Paul was very welcoming, and our room was charming, clean and comfortable. The Inn is adorned with lovely antiques and the view of the river is beautiful! In the evening, we enjoyed a movie in the common area. An added bonus was meeting Lucy and Roscoe, who are very friendly fur babies.
We enjoyed our stay and would be glad to refer others to the Inn.

We love Waupaca and spend a lot of time there. We live fairly close and usually just make day trips. But we had the opportunity to stay at Crystal River Inn and it was wonderful! Our grandgirls were with us and they actually had a playhouse with a ton of toys to play with. We spent a lot of time having campfires and enjoying the scenery and the grounds. The breakfasts were wonderful. The cabin was very nice and the beds comfortable. Excellent time at Crystal River Inn!

Our 3rd stay at the Inn. Always a wonderful time. We stay in the Canopy Room with the private screen porch. Wonderful start to each morning being served breakfast on the porch and hearing the river in the background.Great food and drinking establishments nearby in King. We definitely will be back in the future. Thanks Paul and Shayna

We had a three- night stay at Crystal River Inn from 6/29/23 - 7/2/23. Beautiful BnB location on the Crystal River in the very historic and quaint small town of Rural. They have everything you need and more. We stayed in "The Wood Room" which was cozy. Not a lot of room to move around, but the bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner had many different settings to keep us comfortable. The eleven acre grounds are lovely to explore! Resident outdoor cat was so sweet. We are cat lovers. The owners have two bigger dogs that come to say hello after breakfast. I recommend this Bnb.

I surprised my husband for our anniversary with a weekend stay here and it was wonderful! I wish I had booked a longer stay, we really hated to leave! There was so much more to do and see than I realized. We spent the day tubing on the Crystal River and we had a blast!! The Inn is so beautiful and relaxing. Highly recommend the canopy room. Jacuzzi tub was wonderful. Also loved the screened in porch which we enjoyed our delicious breakfasts on! Paul and Shayna take great care of the place, you can tell they love what they do here! Don't hesitate to book this place!!

What a lovely little slice of heaven. My boyfriend and I booked “The Coop” small cabin. It was romantic and so charming. They had a fire prepared for us when we arrived. We felt so welcome and at home. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and had a beautiful view of the Crystal River. We also got a history lesson of the house and Rural, WI which made it feel even more special. If you are looking for a heartfelt getaway for a couple, family, solo this is the spot. Winter, summer, etc you will enjoy it. Note: the owners were incredibly nice.

I travel to the Waupaca area on a regular basis for work and this is by far my favorite place to stay. The rooms are nice and clean, the beds are soft and comfortable, and the breakfasts are very good. But the best part is the owners and their family. They are the nicest people and are so welcoming.
I have stayed in 3 different rooms and all of them were nice, clean, and comfortable. My favorite room is probably the coop, with its huge picture window overlooking the back yard.

Paul and Shayna are top-notch hosts, providing spotless rooms, a wonderful breakfast and accommodation of special requests. The location of the inn is pristine, the village of Rural a historical and scenic marvel. We found this to be a terrific place to recharge and refresh on a short getaway.

Great service, Great breakfast, Comfortable cabin with plenty of amenities and close to lakes, hiking, kayaking, etc. We stayed in the Little House on the Prairie cabin with family and loved it. Plenty of space and all the necessary amenities for a week long stay. Beautiful old buildings on the grounds. Rented kayaks for one of the days and had a fantastic time on the lakes and Crystal River. The staff took us and the kayaks to the boat launch and sent us on our way with all the necessary gear (and for a great price). The breakfast is homemade and varied each day. The one thing consistent about the breakfast was that it was always delicious!
We would all stay here again and highly recommend it!

I took a solo trip and this was the perfect get-a-way.
Shayna and Paul are wonderful hosts and truly enjoy making people feel welcome. I stayed in one of the guest rooms in the house and loved it.
Kayaking was really peaceful and fun. I loved exploring the chain o lakes. There’s lots of hiking options and plenty of restaurants and local eateries to explore.
Or if you just want to stay at the Inn and not venture out, there’s plenty of sitting options inside and outside to relax.
I look forward to coming back again.

My husband and I got married at the Crystal River Inn in August, 2020. We were originally planning for just our ceremony to be held there and to have the reception at a different location. With COVID we ended up reducing our numbers within the final months of wedding planning and held both the ceremony and reception at the Crystal River Inn. Paul and Shayna couldn't have been more accommodating with this last minute change. They worked with our wedding planner and provided recommendations for local vendors, which we ended up using.
The ceremony and reception were both held outside and we rented the entire property for the weekend. Our guests absolutely loved the space and appreciated the ease and comfort that came with staying on the property. Not to mention, the breakfasts provided by Paul and Shayna were absolutely delicious. I couldn't recommend the Crystal River Inn more for a simple weekend getaway or for a larger event. I grew up coming to this area in the summers with my family so being able to get married here was extremely sentimental and special. Thank you, Paul & Shayna, for all you did for us!

Crystal River Bed and Breakfast is a little slice of heaven. Its location in the historic Yankee town of Rural adds to its charm. We have stayed here numerous times over the years and especially enjoy visiting in winter.
Hartman Creek State Park and the Ice Age Trail nearby offer wonderful opportunities for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Shayna and Paul are the delightfully welcoming owners. Their commitment to maintaining and enhancing the beauty of this historic inn is evident in all they do. The breakfasts are deliciously creative and plentiful! We stayed in the Coop in February and loved it! It's a small comfy cottage close to the inn. Crystal River Bed and Breakfast is a place to to find peace and renewal.

A beautiful and relaxing place with the most amazing hosts. Paul and Shayna were so helpful and accommodating in every way. From asking our preferences on meals, to helping us plan our day kayaking, hiking and biking, we felt more like we were staying with friends than at "an Inn". Not only is the property beautiful and charming, but it is full of interesting history as well. We loved our time here and the memories that were created. We would return in a heartbeat. ❤

What a relaxing and peaceful getaway. I stayed three nights in The Coop. A quaint little cottage, big on character. Breakfasts were delicious and the menu offered a wide variety of items. We ordered delivery one night and ate dinner in the gazebo next to the Crystal River. Stunning scenery. Paul and Shayna were the perfect hosts. I cannot wait to return later this summer!

This place is terrific! Close to everything in the area, but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood along a creek. The property and lodgings are beautiful, and Paul and Shayna are wonderful hosts. We had a relaxing weekend of hiking at Hartman Creek State Park and kayaking on the nearby lakes.

We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet weekend away.
