Hard to imagine some of the best Cajun & Creole food on the planet would be in Boonville, Missouri - yet it's true. Unassuming exterior, yet totally serious about their food, New Orleans House of Gumbo is a hidden treasure. My wife and I had (of course) the gumbo, and it was fantastic - a brother brimming with flavor, excellent chicken and shrimp, and no unnecessary fillers. If you want the real thing with warm, inviting service,go here. Few places capture authentic New Orleans cuisine like this spot - including most dining experiences in New Orleans.

While on business in Boonville, Mo. I decided to try this establishment. I was shocked to see that 1 man, who has an infectious personality, welcomed me into his restaurant like family. This food is amazing!!! I haven’t had southern food like this since my last visit to New Orleans. Definitely authentic and worth the drive. He puts everything into his craft. You won’t be disappointed.

Our experience was beyond phenomenal. From the exceptional customer service to the home style atmosphere. Being our 1st time experiencing New Orleans style cuisine Rob set the bar High . You can tell he put himself in each plate . He gives you a plate he would serve himself. The flavor was more than I can put into words . Thanks Rob for giving us a taste of New Orleans we hope to be back soon !

The best Cajun food I've ever had. We tried a lot. Gumbo- DELICIOUS! Red beans and rice- DELICIOUS! Shrimp PO Boy was outstanding as well. The owner is really at the top of his game and his love of this food shows through in every bite.

My family and I were amazed at how delicious the food is here. Seriously- try it if you're ever in the area. Skip the chain restaurants and hit this place, you'll thank me later.

We walked in about closing time. The owners were very kind and explained the menu and portion sizes. The jambalaya was delicious and the cornbread was almost like eating dessert! Great food!

I drive 90 miles just for Robert's gumbo, jalapeno cornbread, and deep fried jalapeños. Don't let the unassuming spot fool you. Never been disappointed and love talking to him. He definitely has a passion for his food.

Exited I 70 looking for a place to eat that was not fast food/ chain restaurant. If you want good southern Louisiana food this is the place to go. The gumbo was fantastic and the hot sauce was HOT. The owner/ chef was very pleasant and we enjoyed talking with him. The cornbread was delicious and unique. I saved some and ate it after I was finished with my gumbo as a dessert. We will be back for more.

Food was absolutely delicious, from the dirty rice to the parmesan wings. Robert, the owner/chef took the time to explain to us northerners what a po boy was. He obviously takes pride in his restaurant. Don't let the size of the place deter you. This is definitely worth the stop!!

Oh my. This restaurant has the best Gumbo I have ever eaten. The cornbread is also superb! We were late to arrive at the very modest but clean and welcoming restaurant. After a long day of travel, we wanted only soup and bread. We were offered a taste of New Orleans gumbo heaven. Find this restaurant and partake, folks. They will be very busy and outgrow their space as soon as all good folks recognize this gem.

My wife and I decided to stop by this New Orlens style diner for a late lunch on our eay back to Colo. The owner/chef graciously grilled my seafood platter vs the usual cornmeal/deep fried. It was perfectly seasoned & grilled and was some the BEST fish I have had in some time..I have been to New Orleans for dinner as a comparison. We also ordered some gumbo, cornbread & okra and it was also excellent. This restaurant is just 8-10 minutes off of I-70 and it was WELL WORTH the few minutes detour. Stop by, you won't be disappointed!

**Update**
Do yourself a favor, and try his tartar sauce!! Typically I am absolutely not fan as a whole, and neither is my other half. HOWEVER... His tartar sauce? Sweet Lord in heaven it's wonderful! And his catfish? Sweet Baby Jesus Screamin in a Manger it's enough to make this old lady cry. He's doin it right- keep doin what you're doin bud!!
Stopped in to check this place out today, and decided to grab some food. The flavor of the food is good, the ingredients are fresh, and the bread is crusty on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. We got the #13- ham on french bread and #14- Roast beef with gravy. Will definitely recommend it to anyone who asks me, and will be going back again.

Drove from Richmond, MO for lunch because we were craving Robert's fantastic gumbo and cornbread. We'd discovered this place about a month ago and fell in love. When we got there Robert told us the supply truck didn't come, so there was no gumbo. When we told him how far we'd come, he found enough ingredients to make some just for us. We had to wait awhile, but totally worth it for fresh homemade gumbo and cornbread! Robert is the nicest gentleman you'll ever meet! Love this place and Robert! Will totally be back!🩷

Stopped in for lunch while traveling/ camping in the area. The owner was gracious and informative. We ordered a catfish poboy for me, ( it was huge, the lg.) and tasted great. My wife had the catfish and gumbo lunch w/ jambalaya also. Great food and large portions. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, if we were stay longer I would definitely work through the rest of this awesome menu.
