I love finding the not so well known hidden treasure restaurants and this is DEFINITELY one of them. I'm still thinking about that bologna sandwich...2 months later. Im ready to drive 80 miles for this!!!!We'll be back soon. (And I see a lot of comments on the wait. Remember GOOD things take time. It's a small locally owned business and I hope they stay just like that. The wait is just part of the experience. U will be happy u flexed ur patience)

Captain John's catfish dinner on Fridays is one of my favorite treats. It's probably the best catfish I have ever had. The staff is friendly, efficient and accommodating. The food is made to order.

I hadn't been to Captain John's in a couple of years. So I decided to drop by after visiting the park. My family enjoyed the great service, fresh and good barbeque, sweet tea, and the nostalgic atmosphere. Thanks for the memories 😊!

We love Captain John’s BBQ!! We go there at least once per week!! The staff is friendly and the food is YUMMY!! It’s the down home hot spot to go to where Everybody knows your Name and treats you like family!!!

I've been here twice in the last couple of weeks. The BBQ sandwich is awesome and so we're the onion rings.

Onion Rings are the best thing going there. Food is mediocre nothing fancy or special... I had onion rings with this burger but they didn't make it. I don't know of John still has those steak or chicken Phillies let me tell you they are the bomb.com. I love the crew they had in there this evening 07/02/2020 very friendly extremely nice. Great customer service.

Best bbq in Collierville and really kind staff! Take the family!

We bought a slab to have Saturday and Sunday evenings. We still had some leftover tonight. Delicious. I love this barbecue place. Friday catfish is excellent, but go early to avoid a long line.

Y’all, I know this is the south, and I know there are little independent bbq places all over, and I know everybody swears their favorite place is the best in the world, but folks, I’m telling it to you straight this place has some of the absolute best bbq in the entire world. To share a family secret, my parents won first place in bbq pork shoulder at Memphis in May in 1983, so having grown up eating championship level bbq, take my word and give this place a try. You will not regret it.

Super friendly staff. Great food. I stopped in twice today to pick up delivery orders. The aroma of Que is heavenly. Great variety on their menu from Smoked Sausage to Nachos to shoulder to Catfish. This is definitely a locals place. And local places always have the best food.

I usually have their hamburger plate on Thursday and on Friday the great catfish. I love the specials that they give. Food is great! Love the one onion rings. Thank you Linda on having a restaurant you can depend on with good food!

Don't judge this place by the outside! The food was excellent! We had BBQ Nachos and a half slab of Ribs and both were delicious. The only disappointment is that they were out of Sausage, so we will have to go back and try that. The banana pudding was also good. We will be back again next time in Collierville.

Captain John's has the best BBQ in Collierville and one of the best in the Memphis area! Got the picnic pack for Christmas Eve dinner and it was fantastic! Lots of meat, beans, and cole slaw. I've heard their burger is really good but I can't resist the BBQ so I haven't tried it.

Edit: I have tried the burger and the catfish since then and both are fantastic!

Edit 2: Tried the cheese steak sandwich today and was not disappointed. Everything I have tried is wonderful!

Jumbo BBQ sandwich is really good ... BBQ beans not so much. Switched to hush puppies for one of the sides on second visit and they were excellent! Onion rings and french fries also really good. Wish there were more choices for sides as we love the BBQ but two greasy sides not optimum!!
