Shrimp Shack

Great little restaurant on the marsh. Sunset is nice from here. Good food and pet friendly.

I was surprised when asked to write a review. I don't know I never did before. I first went to the Shimp Shack in 1991. It was outstanding. It was literally a shack of a building in the owner's front yard. The only thing you need to order is the shrimp burger, which is as it sounds. It is ground up shrimp, very lightly breaded, cooked, and put on a hamburger bun. Add their homemade coctail sauce and it is perfection. Every time I return to the Lowcountry, I go out of my way to visit the Shrimp Shack, which is much larger than a shack now. It is still just as good. On this last visit, I took my children for the first time, expecting them to think the idea of ground up shrimp was icky. They tried it. They loved it. They wanted to go back for lunch the following day. Remember to bring cash. They don't do plastic. While you are at it, continue to Hunting Island State Park. It completes a great day trip to the islands.

The food is excellent, homemade hush puppies, & the shrimp salad is so good.

Seafood lovers in our family has shrimp burger and fried clams. Both were happy with their food. Land lovers had hamburgers, which were fine for a seafood place. French fries were frozen, nothing special there. Hush puppies were huge but bland. Dessert was prepackaged as in vending machine style, so definitely skip that. This restaurant is definitely a must-do for seafood lovers in the area, and their shrimp burger did not disappoint. Staff was friendly. Please note they only accept cash and checks.

Wonderful restaurant! Highly recommend. We tried many seafood restaurants while down here and this one takes the cake. I wish they weren't cash only but doesn't change my opinion they are the best restaurant all around we tried. Went to lady's island dockside, fish camp and Johnson tavern and this was our favorite all around! Not pretentious, best tasting, great pricing and quick friendly service. If you want a fish/seafood fry this is the best option in the lowlands we found on vacation.

I had the fish sandwich and liked it. The fried shrimp and corn dog was great as well. The hush puppies have some onions in them, so heads up if you’re a picky eater .

First time actually getting to eat here and it was worth the drive! Got the shrimp burger and it was great! Definitely recommend but they do have limited hours so watch out for that!

Great place to eat some of the best fried shrimp. This place is where a lot of the locals hang out and get the good stuff. Wonderful atmosphere too!

Literally the best Shrimp burger ever!!!! Open 11-2pm it's faster if you call ahead with your order then pick up. The line can get really long.

Have you ever had a shrimp burger? If not you are missing out. The food here was so fresh as it was.caught by their own fishing boats and brought in daily. My look like a dive but believe me it is the only spot the locals visit to eat and it is packed for lunch everyday.

You order at the window, get a number, get food, eat food. The shrimp are great. I enjoyed the red rice and slaw also. Although it was pretty warm today, I had a pleasant breeze while I dined outside at one of several picnic tables overlooking the marsh.

You get what it says on the label: fried shrimp and other seafood, which is always fresh, fast, and efficient even when the line is long. I love the hush puppies. Just don’t come if you’re watching your cholesterol: it’s all fried. I really enjoy this place; it never fails to deliver good see food!

Great place for fresh, depp fried seafood. Prices are good, food is great! I tried the shrimpburger (ground up shrimp formed and deep fried in patty shape) and flounder sandwich. Both were very good. They also have a some great hushpuppies. I just wish they had butter or honey or something along those lines to dip the hushpuppies in. Be aware, it is cash only. Overall great experience, I recommend!

Love this little restaurant across the street from Gay Seafood who owns it...shrimp and seafood as fresh as it gets...sit inside or outside...cash only...great menu selection...food cooked perfectly...open limited hours but if in the area you have to check out if you love seafood...

The food was good and the prices were on point. Our wait was only about 10 minutes even though they were slammed. Get there earlier than 3p closing time. They shut and lock the doors for "last call" at 2:30p. I would definitely visit again when in the area!

The shrimp burgers are AMAZING!!!! One of my favorite places to go to. The staff is always friendly and make you feel welcome. Can’t say enough good things about this place

Definitely a shack but it fits the theme with being on the way to the beach. Absolutely great food, simple and made to order. Even though it's made to order it was pretty quick too! When I was there it was definitely busy but we were in and out in about 15 minutes I suppose. A great hidden gem.

Always great. Shrimp burgers are the way to go. Onion rings are good. Off season hours can be a pain. If youre passing by make sure you stop...you'll be sorry you didn't.
