Carlo's Restaurant

We came up for errands and stopped by this restaurant without any expectations but it is so good! We ordered the banana bread French toast and fish chips, both of them are amazing and so affordable! The service was also very good as they are friendly and hospitable!

Like all restaurants Carlos’ can be hit or miss but most of the time their food is absolutely fantastic. The most recent visit for me they had a banana bread French toast special. It is what’s pictured, was absolutely fantastic. Delicious without adding anything extra to it. All of the fruit, caramel, and cream cheese icing in the middle makes it sound overly sweet, but it isn’t at all. It’s the perfect amount of sweet. The time before last I had the regular French toast which was also delicious. Pretty decent coffee too.

It's a laid-back, mid western food joint. The selection was good. The food couldn't have been better or faster. Our waitress has been working there for 20+ years. and that says it all

Great mom and pop spot for great breakfast choices for anyone. Fast service, good food, never rushed to eat.

Absolutely awesome home cooking. I ate most of the sloppy breakfast, way too much great food at a affordable price. The waitresses were friendly and on the spot the entire visit. Highly recommended

Carlo's is a comfortable little diner on the west side of Kankakee. The dining area is clean and well lit. The menu has a Latino flare as well as the American standards. The help is attentive and pleasant. It's a great place to stop for a stress free bite to eat. Prices are reasonable.

Always good food. My wife's favorite place to grab breakfast. Quick and reasonably priced. Staff is always friendly. Good pancakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes, cornbeef hash, all the basics. They also are always willing to make my son chicken tenders in the morning since he doesn't like breakfast food so thats a big plus for us.

Low-key roadside diner with fast and friendly service, daily specials, and great prices. The food is OK and the place is clean enough.

Place was busy when we arrived. Were waited on pretty quickly. Waitress was friendly and welcoming. Food was fresh and hot when it arrived. Highly recommend.

What a terrific place. They have a giant tenderloin that is so good I couldnt finish the whole. The food was hot an fresh. The lady that took our order was very nice wich counts alot. Go give Carlos a try , you wont be disappointed.

Had a real good experience. The place has a cozy charm of a true Midwest dinner of the past. This was not your modern chain interior designed location. More old school mom and pop dinner.

Prices are fantastic, affordable and the plates were good size. We had the fish and chips. Excellent and hand battered in house. Staff was friendly fast. My favorite dinner so far in the county.

Nice little diner! Not much seating, but there is a surprisingly wide variety of awesome food, home-y feel, and a great value. Let them upsell you on the pies if you have the cash for it, totally worth it! It's no longer cash-only, but $5 is a minimum purchase with cards. Sweet first experience and will definitely be heading there again in the future!

El Pastor Breakfast Special was really good. Not your traditional breakfast dish if you want to try something diffrent. Server was very nice and checked on us frequently.

Very tasty entree,scrambled eggs with onions & peppers, American fry’s, Toast and some Amazing Gravy for the top of it. ( best Coffee I’ve had at a restaurant in years) and the waitress (Hi Heather)was very attentive. JustSayn

Staff is very friendly, the building is clean. Menu is reasonably priced. Love love loovvveeee the walleye platter and shrimp tacos. Shrimp tacos here are better than the ones I’ve tried at most big chain restaurants for a fraction of the price. If I could give six stars I would.

Nice breakfast! Took care of my food allergy without issue😊 Good coffee and good corned beef hash. The waitresses are fast, efficient, likable and do they hustle! Nice established family type restaurant!

My friend and we ordered Pork Tenderloin Sandwich Plate (comes with choice of Potatoes, Soup, Salad, Applesauce or Cottage Cheese). It was very good. The place was Clean, and the Waitress that was working on 1-25-18 @ 3:55 pm; was just Wonderful 😊! She made sure that everything was fine and if we needed anything. It started getting busy, and with her working alone she was on top of it all. I applaud her. She has my vote.

I've been going to Carlos roughly 20 years now. The food is always great. The service is fast. They have the best waitress's there! They have been slightly updating their menu, while still keeping the old time favorites ! Go for breakfast,lunch or dinner. Hard to pick, but I love their breakfast so much !
