Cedar Lodge

I attended camp here from age 8 to 16. It is a wonderful place that I continue to love. Whenever, I can I return to my happy place. Camp Cedar Lodge and Hawaii are the 2 places on Earth that I am happiest. The riding program is excellent. I consider Chris and the Edwards as family. This camp helped me become the proud gay man I am today. I am nurse now and an Army vet. The leadership skills and work ethic I learned here has carried me through life. I absolutely love Camp Cedar Lodge.

Recently helped the owners buy a new vehicle and they were some of the kindest, most friendly and easiest to work with people I've had the pleasure to assist. When my little boy gets old enough to ride we'll gladly take him to Cedar Lodge for lessons.

I spent many summers as a camper and then counselor at Cedar Lodge (and their previous camp) and it was an incredible experience. It is the same family running it now as it was back then and they continue to offer a safe, welcoming place that not only offers high quality riding instruction, but qualified staff running all the non-riding activities. It was the one place I consistently felt confident that I was accepted, I had the opportunity to learn skills and participate in activities that weren't necessarily available elsewhere, I made life-long friends there (including Chris and the Edwards family), and still find myself at beginning of summers occasionally thinking how I'd like to be getting ready to go to camp.

Cedar Lodge has been my home away from home for the last 15+ years. I started as a camper and moved into staff roles as my first jobs. I learned so much about horsemanship, team building, independence and leadership over my time as a camper and while working for them. Cedar Lodge has amazing horses, riding and vaulting programs as well as an all around great camp program. I can’t recommend them enough!

Cedar Lodge is hands down the best horse camp you can send your kids too. I was a camper for 7 years and the experience truly shaped the rest of my life. Cedar Lodge not only has an outstanding riding program for beginner through advanced riders, but they also offer general camp programs to truly round out the camp experience.

Spent ten or eleven summers at this extraordinary camp from ages 5 to 15. They have a great permanent staff and do a super job hiring contingent teams for summers.

The horsemanship program is one of the best in the country, and other activities, like water sports on their private lake, are top notch.

As travel resumes post-Covid, Cedar Lodge would be a great place for children from outside the US to have a cultural immersion for a few weeks. Everyone is very considerate, and the environment is safe for foreign visitors.

I cannot recommend Cedar Lodge enough.

I went to camp here many years ago and I honestly have the best memories from my childhood spent here. I spent 5yrs going to camp and going full summers,winter break and any other time my parents could drop me off . Amy and Chris went above and beyond to help mold me into the horse woman I am today. Without Cedar Lodge I would not be who I am today with a thriving horse business myself. With their guidance and care that they showed me, I have been able continue my journey having been taught an amazing foundation through them. I have even sent students of mine to experience what I could only describe as the most amazing time of my life!

Fantastic camp!! Small family feel camp with a horse -heavy theme. However even non-horse enthusiasts will enjoy this small , creative, active camp. I have excellent memories as a camper over many years on the grounds of Cedar Lodge and still can sing many of the campfire songs we did- 30 years later.

Absolutely amazing place. My daughter has found her happy place. Every person there has been nothing but kind and wonderful to us. My daughter has become an excellent rider and her love for horses has grown. They have taught her not only how to ride but how to take care of horses. Not only are the instructors amazing but the other students are always there to lend a helping hand. I can't wait to watch my Sylvia grow as a rider and a person as she continues going to cedar lodge

I went to Cedar Lodge for three years, would've been longer but I got too old, and those were the three best summers of my life. The staff was beyond amazing, everything was very well taken care of, and the horses stole my heart. I will forever hold CL in my heart, because if it wasn't for them I wouldn't have my business partner, my sister, and my son's godmother.

Both of my children attended this camp. I attended the same camp as a child, and wanted my children to learn about nature, animals and personal responsibility that has been the hallmark of this camp since the 1960s. It is owned and run by the same family since it’s founding. Bringing campers into their family for a warmth.
Basically, this has been my happy place since I was a kid, and was so happy sharing it with my children.

I spent many summers here as a camper, counselor, and now as an alumni. Cedar Lodge is a place where kids can be kids- no electronics or screens. And if you’re looking to build riding skills, look no further. This camp is a magical place where kids will make life-long memories!

There’s so many fun things I can say about camp , one thing is you are treated like family and it’s a beautiful just to sit and look at the lake , the staff are fun and very knowledgeable especially about horse back riding and jumping. If you want to learn to be a good rider and do well at the jumping shows cedar lodge can get you there and in the ribbons. There’s tons of other activity’s such as vaulting , that anyone can learn. But if you don’t want to do horses there’s tons of other activities with trained staff that specialize in safety of all campers . You will meet people and stay in touch for life long friendships. I was a staff member in the late 80,s and I learned so much , especially the right way to take care of horses wich was very helpful later in life and my career of working with horses I had the right start by being with cedar lodge they deserve all the credit. My daughter was also a cedar lodge camper when she was 8 I was very happy she got to experience the great times at camp like I did . We’re planning a visit again soon it’s allways nice to come back

My daughter just got home from a week at Cedar Lodge and had an absolutely amazing experience! During the 4 hour car ride home we heard about friends, instructors, HORSES, and even the delicious food! She can’t wait to go back next summer but this time for TWO weeks!

I went to this camp back in the 70’s/80’s for many years and it helped shape my life. I built so many skills that I still use to this day, including horse back riding, swimming skills, survival, archery, etc. My confidence grew, I have life long friendships still in place and I still keep in touch with everyone. Its a magical place and I am so glad many kids get to continue to experience it.

This is the best camp you could ever take your children to. They are much more than a horse back riding camp. The games, the food, the cabins, teaching kids responsibility..its all here. Mine went for years and I was sad they didn't have a week in the summer for the parents.

Absolute best place in the world! The summer camp riding program is great for the beginning rider as well as the advanced show kids. Outstanding staff, incredible horses, with a great general program as well.

This camp is fantastic. I went here for years as a kid and still come back for horse shows. The owners are great people and put on engaging programs year after year. I'd definitely recommend this for a camp, horse show, and cabin rental.

I had an incredible experience at Cedar Lodge attending camp for over five years and would highly recommend it as an amazing place to send your kid for summers for horseback riding for Swimming for being part of an amazing and supportive community.
