Houghton Baptist Church

Houghton Baptist is a top notched community church in Houghton. Attended one of the August services. They were giving out Culvers after that service. Service has contemporary music and great preaching by Pastor Whitaker.

The worship is contemporary, authentic and energized. Pastor Whitaker passionately preaches the ageless message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and connects it with the place, time and culture of today. Friendly people and free Biggby coffee. Yes‼

I love this church so much . The pastor at this church has preached the best messages I’ve ever heard my old church was filled with messages that were repetitive and old and they didn’t really care about the well-being of people at the church, here at hbc they care about all the members of the church anyone that says otherwise is hateful and clearly can’t see straight because pastor Dave is the best pastor in this area and probably in the whole state of Michigan . Everyone here is welcome at this church and you should definitely come

Attended my first service at Houghton Baptist Church today. It was great! Pastor David did a awesome job on the sermon. He wasn’t standing up there speaking down to us but making himself one of us. The music was awesome!!! I absolutely loved it! I also enjoyed the kid zone they have for your kids, my son loved it and talked about it the whole way home. He can’t wait to go back next week! The free Biggby coffee is just an added bonus!

This church is absolutely amazing and such a blessing in my life. I went through some really hard times in the past years and currently I am in recovery. When things get hard in life its very easy to loose your way, and I lost my way in faith. I decided to get help and went to rehab. While I was in rehab my sister was on the phone with me and told me the church that I used to attend when I was younger had reached out to her. The pastor here(David) was talking to her while I was still in rehab and hoped I was doing good. I decided then that I wanted to return to Houghton Baptist Church as soon as I got home. For a pastor to reach out like that it says so much. Not only is he a GREAT pastor, but his message truly touches you. When I tell you that this church is amazing its not bias its the truth. Everyone is so welcoming and they make you feel like family. The best part is everyone is accepted they realize everyone has a story and they will welcome you with open arms. So if your considering a church I highly recommend HBC you wont regret it! It changed my life I challenge you to let it change yours! <3

I knew the moment I stepped in to this church, I was home. I was where I belonged. I’ve never felt so much love from so many different people. This church has become my second family, my second home.
Pastor Dave has this incredible ability to preach exactly what I need to hear (others have told me this as well). There is such fire and passion in his soul! This church has brought me so many wonderful things to my life. I am forever blessed and forever thankful for my church💕

HBC is such a wonderful and welcoming church. My kids and I moved to the area in August. I started looking for a church and found HBC in October. I watched online for a few Sundays and really enjoyed it. We attended in person in November and continue to go there. The worship and message is always incredible. The people at HBC are so loving and welcoming. They have many ways to get connected with others and serve. Pastor Dave and his wife go above and beyond to treat you like family and make sure that you are supported.

Truely a place for everyone. I look forward to my Sunday service, church used to be somewhere would I would go and listen to the Pastor preach, but never left feeling fulfilled. Here, I actually hear, and I feel the messages being spoken. They are told in a way that is relatable, engaging... fulfilling.

HBC is an incredible place to come and get to know our Savior in a non judgmental environment. My family was seeking a place where we were accepted as we are, broken and as far from God as can be. We were welcomed at HBC with loving, compassionate and caring arms by some of the best people I’ve ever met. Pastor Whitaker is a “todays pastor”. He’s amazing, passionate, relevant and relatable. He touches your heart as God works through his sermons. He goes above and beyond what is expected of a pastor. My family found Christ through HBC and an extended family that will always be there. So if you are searching for a place to get to know Christ, give HBC a chance to make that introduction! You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the energy and excitement that HBC brings to the table and ultimately bring you closer to Christ!🥰

Powerful, spirit-filled teaching and worship. The people are warm, friendly, and engaging without being at all "churchy" (do you know what I mean?) It's the love of Christ made real. Perfect for people in recovery, like me.

Our church has one purpose & that's to reach the lost of our area. That means everything we do is focused on reaching them. We have seen many unchurched & lost come to know Jesus over the last few years. Truly Kingdom work!

I'm so grateful I was introduced to HBC! I started attending almost a year ago, and my life has changed in more ways than I can count. I look forward to spending Sundays here to worship.

I visited this church and seen the compassion from the pastor and his family toward people frequenting this special place. He has great sermons.The music band does a great job in the service as well.
