Mont Vernon General Store

One of the most charming, clean, friendly, delicious 😋 good old fashioned general stores in the state 😀 Can't pass this one by.

It's more than a general store, it's a five ⭐ general store. Besides the basic amenities, such as milk 🥛, cheese, beer 🍺 (there are those who consider it such), sunglasses 🕶,there are local craft products, maple syrup, 🍫 chocolates, 🧼 soaps and ground coffee ☕.
What I purchased was a sandwich 🥪, the Alan Shepard. Fresh cut corn beef with swiss cheese 🧀, sauerkraut on marble rye bread 🍞 with cole slaw and a pickle 🥒. Delicious! I sat on the porch and dined. There are chairs inside with a 🐟 fish tanks in between.
You can order 🍦 ice-cream outside. I think 🤔 they are using Friendly's 🍦 ice-cream. It tasted good.
I recommend a visit.

They hosted a fundraiser for second chance rescue! We had a blast!! Everyone was so nice and helpful!!

Best sandwiches in southern New Hampshire! If you find yourself traveling on Route 13 you’d be remiss not stopping by this store! Best food, New Hampshire made products, ice cream and friendly, funny people! This place is worth the trip!

I love the General Store :) I grew up walking/riding my bike here and wow, it is so much nicer under the new management. The owners are so delightful, and the store looks beautiful. The breakfast sandwiches here are so good that they singlehandedly saved my life.

Great sandwiches and a nicely curated selection of NH made goods. The chocolates were delicious. Well worth a stop. And the view from the top of the hill is spectacular.

Having grown up in Mont Vernon, I've seen a few iterations of the General Store. The current one is arguably the best. While things might be a bit more expensive, well worth it to keep them open. Some fun truly local items, some good beers, and the sandwiches may take a few minutes but are worth the wait. I will make a stop every time I visit!

This was a wonderful general store. The proprietor, who was an interesting and engaging person, has struck what is obviously a great balance between local and transient patrons. He had lots of great hot and refrigerated prepared food. The usual staples were present along with a wonderful assortment of eclectic items from local cooks, bakers, artisans and craftsmen. We took a trip from Keene just to see this store; definitely a destination!

This little place is a treasure trove! Many products are created locally. Everyone who works there is quite pleasant

I just adore this place. Wandering among only the few aisles they have, I cannot help but smile and feel good as I spend money on local items. I really don't mind spending a bit more as long as I know it's going to help local families and businesses. Message to the owner - thank you for keeping this store simple, humble and continuing to stock local items and things that people actually need/use! 😊

Love this place. Grab a sandwich there for lunch if you’re in the area - you won’t be disappointed. I recommend the Dean Kaman (marinated steak tips, cheese, peppers & onions). Best “steak & cheese” I’ve ever had

My new coffee stop in the morning, dinner and snacks in the evening. Great staft and a really warm atmosphere. I wish more establishments would follow the MVGS lead.

Outgoing and friendly staff. Clean, attractive and well stocked with neccessary products as well as items made in NH. Will assemble beautiful gift boxes.
