The location and view were fantastic. The dock with a swing and Bluetooth speakers was wonderful. We stayed in the bungalow and it was clean and comfortable for just the two of us. It had all the necessities and you can't beat it for the price. The fire pit was great at night. Luke and Jane were wonderful hosts and very accommodating. Will definitely be staying again in the future. Would highly recommend.

We just left our stay here and wish we were still there. It was a great relaxing couples getaway spot. We spent most of our stay sitting on the deck overlooking the lake relaxing with a glass of wine. Location was great also, less than a mile from town where there is lots of dining and tour options.

The cutest little cabin on a hill, with a great view of the lake! the road it sits on is incredibly low traffic.
The 1 bed cabin is small, but it's all you need to sleep- There's too much to see in the area, for space to be a problem here.
The dock is a cool place to hang, and would be fun to swim off of in the summer. crystal clear water. The coffee maker does not make strong coffee, so if you're a big coffee drinker- go into town for coffee. Also the bathroom door is nor private so if this is a weekend getaway as a couple, yall better be okay with 0 privacy, or have a gameplan to work around that. 🙃 thank you so much for a great weekend!!

I absolutely loved this cottage. The moment we arrived I fell in love with it. They had everything you would need for a stay. We were there for 3 nights and they had fresh coffee, cream and sugar for you! All the appliances, pots, and cups!
Not only was the cottage and deck amazing, but they have their own private dock with motion activated lights. The best part of staying there was being able to walk down to the lake and sit on the swing to watch the sunrise. They have a ladder so you are able to swim off the dock, and even supply life jackets.
The owner Luke was awesome! He made sure we had everything we needed, gave us directions to the cabin. With us having such a far drive it make it more accommodating with a late check in. Definitely would love to come back again!

We loved our stay here! The cabin was exactly what we needed, with a great location along the lake and very close to town. We loved having the windows open for fresh breezes and listening to the nature around us. A great bonus was going down to the docks to relax right along the lake. Luke and Jane are great owners - very helpful and communicative. Would absolutely stay again if we have the opportunity to visit Watkins Glen in the future!

These cabins were so beautiful and had everything we needed and more!
The cabins came with every dish/appliance you could think of. My favorite part was the fire pit with wood, we were able to roast marshmallows. The most convenient thing for our family was that is was self check in, we had a far drive to visit and we’re able to do a late check in.
Luke is a very kind and friendly man.
Thank you for making this trip better than it already was.

Great little place across from lake Seneca. Clean, well kept and less than a mile from downtown Watkins Glen. Could see the lake from the deck of our cottage and also from the private dock area to enjoy the view. Beautiful lake. Great little rental. Very happy.

We've been staying here for over 10 years. We love being close to town, on the wine trail, and right on the lake. I almost hate to write this review because I don't want to give away the secret of how nice it is to stay here. All of the units have everything you could need. We like the tiny cabins for a quick affordable weekend away and the bigger units for a couples weekend. We loved the previous owners but the new owners are every bit just as wonderful. We love our home away home. 💞

My wife and I just spent a wonderful long weekend in the Finger Lakes region, and deciding to stay here was the right choice. Our cottage was clean and inviting when we arrived, comfortable and cozy. Also, the views of Seneca Lake from the deck were gorgeous, and enjoying a quiet cup of coffee out there in the morning was so relaxing. Grilled our dinner two nights in a row, and spent a quiet evening together around the fire on our last night.

This was our first trip to central NY, and Admiral Peabody's will definitely be our lodging of choice on future visits.

We stayed here in mid-May 2022 as a Finger Lakes getaway on our 25th wedding anniversary. This was a great place to use as a "base camp" for several days of Finger Lakes excursions. The location is perfect! You're close to the village of Watkins Glen for daily needs, and the rest of the region is easily accessible.

As for the lodging itself, we loved it. We stayed in the Lieutenant's Quarters, which I would recommend for any couples who plan to spend a bit of time lounging about. The cabin is cozy and yet roomy, nicely decorated (nautical theme, naturally), with a large front porch. There's even a grill you can use with all the utensils provided; we ended up buying meat locally two of our four nights for dinners in. We weren't in love with the coffee or the drip machine, but this is undoubtedly because we're kind of coffee snobs who can be a bit particular about that sort of thing. Not remotely a deal-breaker. My only main quibble with the cabin is that there is only one air conditioning unit, which is in the main living room. Our first night there was a bit on the warm and muggy side, and the bedroom never really cooled to our preferred comfort level. Subsequent nights (cooler, less humid) were lovely with windows open. Also, the bathroom could use an exhaust fan.

The view of the lake is obscured a bit from the Lieutenant's Quarters by the larger house on the property just downslope, but you still have beautiful sightlines of the water. Access to the water itself involves crossing a street (not much traffic), descending a long flight of stairs, crossing railroad tracks (which ARE in use for the salt mine a mile up the road), and then descending another flight of stairs. None of this is difficult, but bear in mind if easy and quick access to the water is something you want or need from your FLX lodging choice. This is NOT a "wake up and walk right out onto a beach" place. It IS a "wake up and watch the boats" place, though!

While we were there we had a minor plumbing issue in the cabin, which the owners dealt with very quickly. Other than that there were no hassles or difficulties at all. The street is a quiet one, and while the railroad tracks ARE in use, there was only a single train that we heard while we were there.

Not only would I not hesitate to stay here again, I'm already thinking about when we can make it back!

Beautiful spot to stay on Seneca Lake, on the edge of charming town of Watkins Glen.
Owners are great, rooms and property charming, and owners accommodate needs of guests. We love this area, so much to do from viewing waterfalls, enjoying Seneca Lake, tasting local wines, beer, liquor, ciders, and many types of awesome restaurants in the area. Yes, we love this place as we live near by.

We stayed at Admiral Peabody's for a long weekend and will definitely go back! The location was excellent. We stayed in the Lieutenants Quarters and it was adorable, roomy and clean. We loved the porch on the front. They really thought of everything... there were even frosted mugs in the freezer! We highly recommend it.

Last week myself, my husband and our pup found ourselves unexpectedly stranded in Watkins Glen with a broken down camper van. We were pretty worried about finding a place to stay that wouldn't break the bank and would allow our doggie. We checked out a bunch of places with no luck. Either the hotel was too expensive, not dog friendly, farther out of town or not the cleanest looking. The concierge at another hotel gave us a tip about Admiral Peabody's (which didn't even come up on our searches.) Let me tell you, we majorly lucked out with Admiral Peabody's in Watkins Glen! This lakeside gem was a serious score on so many levels. First, a huge thank you to Luke, the owner of this establishment. Luke was tremendously kind and accommodating. He is also a really interesting guy so if you get the chance, chat him up! We stayed in the Commander's Quarters which was very comfortable and clean, a 2 bedroom suite with a view of Seneca Lake. We even had a little deck outside of our room with a BBQ and table. Not to mention dreamy pillows, cute soaps in the bathroom and COFFEE!! In addition to the amazing digs, Admiral Peabody's also has a private dock right on the lake with chairs, tables and blue tooth ready music system. We loved listening to our tunes while eating dinner on the dock watching the soft sunsets. It is worth mentioning, it is very doable to walk from Admiral Peabody's to the main street of town. Our misfortune of the van breakdown was completely turned around by this place and it turned into a memorable little vacation. We already want to go back! Watkins Glen is a neat town with lots of happenings. If you are looking for a great place to stay on the lake or an alternative to a stuffy/sterile feeling hotel, seriously check this place out! I recommend them 100%.

Also, dog friendly town tips, there is a dog friendly BBQ place on N. Franklin. The park down by the top of the lake by the Village Marina is dog friendly. (I think you can eat with your pup outside there also.) The Thai restaurant between N. Franklin and Decatur on East 4th Street pleasantly surprised us! Food was yummy and they are BYOB if you picked up a bottle on a wine tour! We also enjoyed a meal in Lafayette under the gazebo. Pro tip - there are power outlets if you need to charge your phone in the gazebo.

What a great spot. The owner, Luke, could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We rented the 3 bedroom house. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the central AC was lovely. It was centrally located to so many attractions. We can not wait to go back.

Stayed in the one bedroom cottage, which is comfortable and relaxing! It doesn't get any more stress free than sitting on the swing on the dock, or outside on the deck in the morning looking at the lake.

We'll definitely stay here again next time we're in the area!
