Sweet Potatoes Restaurant

First time here and the food is good. Large portions! I had the fried whiting, collard greens, sweet potatoes and banana pudding. 5/5!

I’m from the Bronx and I ordered from here on Uber. Happy to say that the food came to me still hot :). The Mac and cheese was good I loved the yams and the shrimps was good as well. I know if I would’ve had this straight out the kitchen It would have been way better! Loved my food thank you

One of my favorites, if not my #1 favorite soul food restaurant. I wish the establishment will one day expand the size. It is a very small in size, and only seats 12-15 people tops, and that would make it tight in there. The small side is more for takeout. I have been on the bigger side for Sunday brunch. Love the jazz band, and the full buffet. Today in particular, my mother said let's go out to eat. I really wanted her to try this restaurant. Her stomach is very sensitive, and can't eat certain things. I just wish the waitress was a little bit more patient, and not so fast to catch an attitude, when trying to order the food the way she likes it . Overall, my mother enjoyed the food as well. She loved her extra crispy chicken and she enjoyed the the Sweet Potatoe Fries as well. I liked the Seafood Delight, but was a huge fan of the crab cakes. It was just okay. The string beans had that extra kick to it. The Mac & Cheese was/is my favorite side dish. Delicious!

The food I've ordered (fried whiting, beef ribs, fried chicken wings, collard greens, and yams) is consistently very good!!
Doordash delivery orders are always prepared well, and are packed securely.
The food is reasonably priced too.
I highly recommend this restaurant.

Been searching for a good soul food restaurant close by for a while and stumbled across this one on Google maps. The reviews were mixed, but mostly good and enough to get us to make the drive from the Bronx. And boy are we glad we did.
The guys behind the counter are really friendly and knowledgeable about what they are serving you.
We got the combo platter fried chicken and short ribs. Mac n cheese, string beans (great flavor) for me and Mac n cheese and potato salad for him.
The sides were good, the chicken was good but the short ribs were really good. So tender and the sauce was deeeelicious. And the portions were HUGE. They gave us so much food that we have to wait until tomorrow to try the cobblers we bought.

Will definitely be back.

If you want down-home southern food, this is the place. It's a quaint place with a lot of traffic. I sat with my daughter for Mother's Day and the young man that served us was excellent. Patronize this establishment. It's not everyday that you can go to a southern place and it reminds you of home. It felt like my great-grandmother was cooking..

Wow never been here before but dam is the food good. Sweet potato’s are soft and amazing, mac and cheese was delicious and the chicken was fantastic. Def my new go to

I can't say enough about this place. They never disappoint. Portions are generous. Atmosphere is warm. Service is great!!!

One of my favorite places for Southern food. The fried chicken is awesome. The short ribs is absolutely amazing if you're in the mood for beef. If you find you can't decide they have a "combination" plate which would allow you to get multiple meat items if you can't make up your mind.

The sides are great as well my favorites are Mac and cheese, yams, greens, or potato salad. They also have a half and half drink which is basically iced tea and lemonade which I recommend as well.

When it comes to dessert I recommend the banana pudding, Apple cobbler, or peach cobbler . Either way you can't go wrong. If you go with a date have them get something different and grab a couple of bites from what they order. Small place however the food will keep you coming back. If you're not into dining in you could always get it to go and indulge in the comfort of your own home.

The food is phenomenal and the price is excellent - definitely get the half and half sweet tea/lemonade and make sure to try the sweet potato fries which believe me, youve never had fries like these! Can't wait to go back! (Photo: catfish dinner with corn bread and sweet potato fries)

Some really great people work here and the food is consistently good . If you're thinking about trying them out. I say go for it...

The food and service was outstanding !! Staff is incredibly friendly and open to listening to suggestions and for ways to make your experience better. It's a cozy atmosphere but they make it work. This is comfort food at it's finest. The decor has an intimate feel. This would be a nice spot for date night.

Food was tasty, lemonade is really good and refreshing. The place is a bit tight when it comes to seating when eating in, not sure if seating is available on the larger side of the restaurant or if that end is only reserved for parties. Other than that we were satisfied.

I've been here about three times now, each time for pick up only. The food has been consistent for me. This most recent visit, I got the southern fried chicken, the Mac and cheese, the candied yams, corn bread and the potato salad and both the sweet potato pie, and a banana pudding for dessert. I wanted to see if items I tried before tasted any different. Well, I for sure am definitely not a fan of the potato salad. It just is something I should have known not to get. The candied yams actually tasted better than when I got them the first time. The chicken was still good, although they didn't serve those huge pieces like before. I guess the recession is hitting everyone, and the inflation has gotten back to the chicken 😩. I think the mac and cheese also was better if not about the same.
The sweet potato pie wasn't all that for me which again is weird based on the restaurant name. We ordered two pies and one was a pie like you'd get at your local chicken spot and the other was a pie slice. The banana pudding was good, though. Also, I did try some of the collards with smoked turkey and that was really good. I would get that next time.
Oh, also, there's a cash discount but you don't find that out until after you pay so you pay the total given then you get change back and THEN they tell you about the discount.
In all this time, the experience was 4.25 or 4.5 stars but I rounded up.

My food was good as always. However, I noticed the banana pudding isn’t homemade anymore. Mines tasted like it came from the chicken spot. I miss the homemade banana pudding hopefully you guys bring it back

Frequently order from here. Mac & Cheese, potato salad, yams, ribs and chicken are delicious! Bakery options are great - sweet potato pie and the banana pudding.

I have not been here since they first opened. I wanted to see what the food was like since my job is having food catered for Thanksgiving lunch. Everything I had was delicious.

Seafood is amazing. And they give good portions. Now they have a royalty program too !!

Great service, quick, accomodating! I always get the fish catfish strips with mac & cheese...a banger each time!!!! Have room for dessert, grab a banana pudding...it will make you slap somebody (but not yo' mama! Lol)!
