Nikki's Chaat Café

Everytime I'm in Tahoe, I try to hit up this place at least once! The food is very fulfilling and tastes better than most of the bay area Indian restaurants because the owners Viral and his wife Palak have themselves created the home made recipe. The Naans are super soft and tasty. Exactly the kinda food you need after a long day of ski or a hike! Trust the chefs recommendations because they are def the best! Regardless of how much you spend on food, you'll be treated like a family member and made sure that you're well fed and happy. I love this place!

We went here just before closing and was greeted with warmth and seated immediately. We ordered Chole Batura, Nasn, Vegetable pakoras and chai. All items were excellent.

Delicious food and amazing service! My family left feeling quite content. We definitely plan on returning! I recommend the mango lassi.

They were only serving buffet for $23.99 when we went there for dinner. My husband who's been vegetarian all his life said "it's not a glorious buffet but I'm really happy with the amount of veggie dishes they served". There were about six veggie dishes, two chicken, one fried rice and plain rice (aside from the desserts and salad, chutney. I really really liked the fried rice (doesn't taste like the usual biryani rice) and the chili manchurian. The saag paneer had lots of paneer (I have to say this because a lot of buffets we go to, paneer's missing most of the time). Yes it is kinda expensive. Amount came to $62 with automatic service charge of 18% and tax. But we got free eggless cake from the owner. Thank you 😋

From out side it’s look very small place but in side a good big family hall. I think this one is Number 1 place in all Lake tahoe …Great customer service! Freshly made food! Very friendly service. You can tell that everyone who works here really cares…Nice place specially decorations is beautiful… Everything nice and clean. The new manager name Rajat is very talented, hard worker, full of knowledge . Thanks for such a great experience.

Loved the food they served and the hospitality. We were welcomed with a smile. We were there to grab starter and loved whatever we ordered. Loved the papdi chat, Samosa chat, dahi poori and mix veg pakora. Loved the taste of the tea too. Must try once you are in Tahoe.

From the moment I walked in to Nikki’s Chaat Cafe, we were greeted with warm smiles and excellent service. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations on what to order being a vegetarian.

Now, let's talk about the food - absolutely delicious! Each dish was bursting with authentic flavors and perfectly cooked. Whether you're a fan of vegetarian curries, chow mein noodles, or tandoori naan, this place has it all and more. The presentation was top-notch, and you could tell that the chefs put a lot of care and attention into every dish. Oh the water they serve was definitely a filtered water.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is inviting and cozy, with clean tables and chairs, making it a perfect place for a casual meal with friends and family.

Overall, this restaurant exceeded all my expectations, and I will definitely be returning to try more of their amazing dishes. If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine, outstanding service, and a lovely atmosphere, look no further - this place has it all!

Had a great dinner! The service was good, multiple people asked if we needed anything. The garlic Naan was fantastic. Best we've had. My wife had chicken jalfarazi. I had lamb vindaloo. I ordered medium spice level, and it was spicier than expected. But fantastic flavor! Worth a return trip!

My whole family loves this place and we make it a point to visit every time we’re in the Lake Tahoe area. Their food is markedly different from the Indian restaurants in our home town, but it’s equally amazing. The papadams are the best I’ve ever had. The mango chicken is phenomenal, the butter chicken is very savory, and the madras chicken is wonderful.

This is my favorite Indian food in all of Tahoe! The flavors are amazing and the staff is really nice. We always get the paneer tikka masala, mango chutney, and garlic naan but every new dish we’ve tried has been amazing. Highly recommend!

I'm Indonesian my husband is Chinese.
He doesn't do much curry but he was OK for us to keep having Indian food because it was that good and satisfied.

No idea why this place has average ratings ! Amazing food , amazing people ! I felt that they were short on employees and it may take time to serve food. ! common guys”! you are in Tahoe and if you want food in 5 mins get something from mc Donald . Thanks to Nikki for serving amazing yummy spicy food in this cold weather ! If you don’t have patience and if you are “that” kind of guy who show desi attitude , go and show your attitude in some English restaurant 🥶

This spot serves the most delicious Aloo Paratha! I ordered Aloo Paratha, Jeera rice, yellow dal, and mango lassi—all were fantastic. It's a must-visit whenever I'm in Tahoe!

This is THE BEST Indian restaurant my wife and I ever been too, and it's a shame we live so far that we cannot go there as often as we want. We went there on the weekend of July 4th and whenever I think about Indian food my wife and I salivate thinking about the food we had and the friendliness and exceptional customer service we got 😊.

As soon as we opened the door and looked inside, people greeted us with a warm smile just as friends would do. They seemed very genuine about our interest in picking a good meal for us, and once they heard we were both Vegan, they helped us learn more about the menu and even let us sit in while we weren't sure (even though we weren't thinking about eating yet, we were just walking around town) 👋😄.

Later in the day we decided to go for dinner at Nikkis Chaat Cafe and it was definitely one of our favorite parts of our trip, that my wife and still talk about how delicious the food was and amazing of a service.

Food was all made vegan, super clean and very rich in flavor. First the waitress came and served us, then the owner's husband came around me on the table to greet us and gently placed his left hand on my right shoulder until we started talked about various subjects related to his situation with running the restaurant during COVID, his attempt to go vegetarian but having to give in to the temptation of meat and praising his wife who is the owner and chef about sticking with a vegetarian lifestyle. Then his wife (the chef/owner) came by towards the end of our
meal to say hi, very friendly lady and kind. Share shared a bit about her experience as a vegetarian and ended up sharing that she's been experimenting with some recipes including a VEGAN MANGO LASSI! Which I didn't even know it was a thing... she simply said "hang on, I'll bring you something for you to try..." and just talking about it already makes my mouth water 💦💦💦

If the owner is reading this, I own you a feedback on the Mango Lassi, so here it goes: It was absolutely delicious, the texture was perfect, the taste was just like the "real" one and even the smell is something I still remember to this day. I noticed the sugar level was a little on the higher end, which made me taste the tiny sugar cubs during some sips, so maybe playing more with the sugar levels would've changed my feedback a bit. Either way, I'd still have that same vegan mango lassi every single day of the week 😄

Overall, it was the most pleasant conversation I had with workers/owners at a restaurant EVER and the food was the best Indian food we've ever had! (I don't say this lightly as a couple who is constantly seeking for the best Indian food in the US)

This place has the best Mango lassi out of every place we have tried, the chicken tikka masala was full of flavor as well it is spicy if you order it that way I enjoy spicy food and got a level 4 and it was good the 5 would be too much for me so I’d say the average person would want a 2 or 3

We ordered dal makhni, malai kofta and chicken curry trust me food was super delicious. level of spice and flavour was just perfect.

The food and the service here was incredible the whole staff is super friendly and made us feel like we were at a family dining establishment. The Gobi Manchurian and aloo tiki chat was sooo good! Having come from LA and being very picky about Indian food it was so nice to have this really super hospitable location right next-door to our hotel. They have great naan as well. Don’t let the outside fool you it is very cute inside. Will def visit again when in Lake Tahoe. There is ample parking as it is in a strip mall next to a cvs and a gift store/trading post. Also right in front of a small beach.

My husband and I have been in South Lake Tahoe for about two months now in a vacation rental. I am not able to cook as I usually like to on a daily basis but we recently discovered this little Indian cafe close by to our cabin. My husband loves Indian, Pakistani, Greek, Mediterranean food so of course he wanted us to try this place. We are always frequenting sushi restaurants close by so the change was welcomed. The owner of the restaurant Mrs. Shah was very welcoming, she’s an industrious woman that ensures that you get what you ordered and what you paid for. Yesterday her restaurant was opened for business (25th December 2021) Christmas Day, while others were closed. They were opened in a storm I might add. Mrs.Shah’s husband was in yesterday evening assisting with orders and he was the sweetest person ever. I don’t know the names of The dishes on the menu but the food here is delicious, the restaurant is clean, people are friendly and the service is good! I recommend 10/10

Had Dinner and Breakfast while visiting Lake Tahoe last month. Tried their Shahi Paneer and Malai Kofta with Naan in dinner and all things were very tasty. For the Breakfast we had their Chhola Bhatura and Aaloo Paratha along with Tea/Chai which very also very good. Overall the food was delicious, fresh and had a home cooked food feeling.
