Very nice campground right at the base of the Columbine Canyon trail that leads up into the wilderness area. The 2023 hosts are great! - very friendly and helpful. Vault toilet was uber-clean and the water very good. The creek runs right down through the middle of the campground providing beautiful sound, and it also helps to mask any noise from other campers. Be prepared for cool mornings though– since it's in a canyon the morning sun doesn't get there right away.

The hosts are so sweet and friendly! The site and campground were well kept and the cleanest we have seen. Decent privacy and beautiful views.

Loved this campground! We chose a site near the front right next to the Red River, which is also close to the highway. Overnight, the river lulled us to sleep! In the morning (not too early) trucks driving up the highway were a little louder than I would have liked, but it wasn't too bad. Overall, very peaceful. No internal campground noise problems at all. Close to the town of Red River.

Love the location of this campground. Very family friendly and short walk to the trailhead that leads to other awesome trails. About 5 miles away from town, so it was very quaint and peaceful. Grounds were kept up very well and bathrooms always smelled good and super clean. Pressurized well water was great to drink and for other uses. During our stay, there was a fire ban so we used our camping stove. Children had a great time and will for sure be back to this very same campground. Stayed at campsite 3 which was reserved a week out. There are first come first serve spots available, but they went very quickly and stayed occupied.

Cindy our camp host was probably one of the sweetest humans I have ever met. She made sure we were happy and had the best spot available. She came by multiple times throughout our stay just to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She even went as far as delivering our wood and brought us a copy of the trails through columbine. The restrooms were the cleanest I have seen for a campground, and Cindy was out there making sure they were well maintained and kept. The campsite was spotless, and gorgeous. We stayed in spot 27, right next to the river and enough for two large tents.

Love this place! We've stayed here twice now and each time has been special. The creek running through provides a perfect background noise that lulls you to sleep. Sites were level and had no issue finding a place for our tent. Bathrooms were always clean when we were there and smelled great. There is a trailhead right in the campground for easy access to multiple trails in the area. Close enough to Questa for supplies and while it is a bit close to the highway, noise was never a huge issue. Only downside is we could not move the picnic table at the site which was fine for our setup but I do prefer when you can arrange the site as you like. Decent 3G signal on Verizon too for all important weather monitoring during the summer monsoon season.

Beautiful place, friendly and helpful hosts. About 25 camping spots, all surrounding a creek. No running water right now, but they are fixing this in about 10 days.

This gorgeous spot was just the place for us to escape the Texas heat. There’s a super chilly creek running behind/through campsites 9, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16. The hike is easily accessible and the vault bathrooms are clean, and only a little smelly. Careful of the horseflies around the creek. Campsites 1-8 are all pretty tight, so if you want more space, try the others.

Loved it, would go back in a heartbeat.

A good portion of this little campground is first come first serve. Mature trees, a substantial creek, and trailhead into a wilderness area.

We went in March the campground was still closed but we hiked part of the trail behind the campground. Area is beautiful covered in snow not sure how it looks without snow.

Beautiful site. Had a great view from our camper. Enjoyed the stream rushing through the campground and access to the Columbine Hondo trail.

Nice clean and generally quiet other than a few generators. Sites 12-27 are the best. 1-11 are in the open and offer no privacy.

Nice sites about half with shade. Mostly laid back campers. Will return.

Beautifully wooded campground off the main road, with very minor traffic noise. All the vaulted toilets were clean and smelled nice (with the exception of the general bugs and dirt you can't avoid when camping). Water spouts close to all campsites!

Wonderful sounds of a flowing stream running through the campground and a gorgeous hiking trail to keep you busy.

We loved it here so much and definitely plan to return as often as possible!

Our family planned on staying three nights but very unfortunate circumstances changed that less than 3 hours into our stay. Cindy (the camp host) was incredibly kind and understanding. Other than that, the campground was very clean, had a great river flowing through the middle, and tucked neatly in a canyon. I highly recommend this place.

The camp host was so very nice and informative. Our campsite was number 5. We set up our tent right next to the creek. Sleep was amazing. The bathrooms were super clean and they make a special effort to sanitize them often. Very impressed.

We've stayed here many times over the years. Very nice Campground in a canyon. The roads are paved and the bathrooms are dispersed evenly and are always clean. Columbine creek runs through the middle of the Campground, and produces a lovely sound.

Great little camp. No showers but has toilets and water. Beware of the bears. Put your food up and lock your car.

Great hiking trail. Follows the creek at least all the way to the confluence with Deer Creek. It is well traveled, so you know you are on the trail. We went all the way to Deer Creek. At that point, you can continue up to Gold Hill and from there on several different trails. We had little kids with us, so the roughly 2 miles to this location was far enough. We would have gone further up Columbine, but due to the high water from snow melt we had to turn around; the bridge over Columbine Creek was out! I believe this would have been the fourth bridge across the creek for anyone reading this soon after June 18, 2017. You could have made it across by taking the trees that have fell across the creek, but with a 5 year old we decided not to risk it. That said, it was a great hike! All the cascades down the mountain were beautiful!
