Seriously the best French onion soup ever.... The chicken nuggets with all the sauces was great & the Ruben was outstanding! The service is great! It's not fancy but the food is incredible! Best in South Lake Tahoe

I was married in Tahoma in 1981, and my oldest daughter was married in Emerald Bay in 2014, and ate here at MacDuffs for her wedding reception so we decided to commemorate the occasion by having lunch! Fish & Chips, Chicken Tortillas Soup in a freshly baked bread bowl(!!), and a Shepherd’s Pie followed up with a delicious Bread Pudding alà mode w/4 spoons. Wonderful meal and great service - thank you 🙏 🥰

Went there for dinner while we were visiting Lake Tahoe. We got to know about this Scottish Pub and Restaurant from our favorite youtuber "Josh McNair"'s page "California Through My Lens". We told our server about that and they were very happy to know about that. We sat inside the restaurant. The inside restaurant was decorated with Traditional Scottish souvenirs immersing us in a delightful cultural experience. There was also an outside patio where each table was transformed into tent. The tents were covered with transparent cover and heater/warmer was included so that one can be protected from the cold while still enjoying the view. We ordered Soup and Shrimp and Chips with tartar sauce. The food was hot and fresh, perfect for the cold weather. We enjoyed a lot. The attention to detail in both decor and food made our visit memorable.

Plates are appealing to both the eye and the palate. The portions are huge and the food is of high quality. Orders are delivered as requested, ensuring accommodations are met for both allergies and personal preferences. Salads are fresh, wings are spicy and pizzas are delicious. Great beer selection too.

The servers are on it. They work as a team to create a positive dining experience. It felt like someone was always checking the table (and this was a consistent experience over multiple visits). What I appreciate most is that the servers are proactive. On one occasion our order wasn’t processed correctly. Our server made us aware of what happened and how she was fixing it. No one was blamed. The situation was handled very professionally and resolved quickly.

The outdoor patio is super nice to enjoy a meal with family, friends and your pup. Umbrellas provide shade and music creates good vibes. Inside is nice too with a Scottish flare.

You won’t leave here hungry. A must stop.

This pub has the best food! The sheppards pie, clam chowder bowl, pizza, and pasta were so delicious. The pizza was cooked in a brick oven so the crust was crispy and yummy. The clam chowder appetizer bowl was super big and we loved the nice crunchy bread ring on top of the bowl. The atmosphere was very cozy and had enough space for a few tables upstairs. There's even a mini bar upstairs for patrons to order their alcoholic drinks. And the staff... what can I say. They were super friendly and very accommodating. Definitely a place you have to go and check out, whether you're there for a pint or for the awesome did, stop by the pub. 😊

Great restaurant and beautiful. Plenty of parking space! Great tasty menu and affordable. The staff were amazing and was able to make my experience dining with them memorable. I brought a fish for the chef to cook and they cooked up 3 dish for me as one standard price! And my dish taste amazing! I would recommend you to give it a shot if you haven’t already. Oh and that salad was delicious with my fish as well!

After a few hours on the water, we needed someone to prepare our fresh catch and we were told this place was the one. We took our catch to them and they prepared it 3 different ways and each was absolutely delicious! The place was really cool and the atmosphere was fun. We hung out at the outdoor patio/bar and talked to the staff, who were super friendly.

Ordered the shepherds and cottage pie with the french onion and butternut squash soup. Food came out fast and delicious! They also provided a water bowl for our pup.

A beautiful, Traditionally themed Scottish pub great variety and service.
Our server Ayden was polite and knowledgeable. The pours were honest and food that left you satisfied. Thank you Macduff's for a pleasant experience.

I can't say enough praise about this place. The service is above and beyond. They took wonderful care of us and the food was amazing. I have never had this good of service anywhere!

Their shepherd’s pie and fish and chips were really good. I don’t usually like lambs but I enjoyed the pie so much.

Do not miss the Bread Pudding.

We ate family style. 2 adults, 2 kids. The clam chowder with the bread ring was perfect. It was gigantic. The French onion soup was delicious. The truffle Mac & cheese was so delicious. It’s like a casserole, real pasta with real & delicious cheeses. The shepherd pie was delicious. Everything came out bubbling hot from the brick fire oven!
Oh we ordered a pizza but we couldn’t really eat it 😆 we ordered too much food, we had to leave space for the bread pudding.
But we couldn’t help each taking a bite of the pizza— and it was also incredible.
Oh and the service and ambiance was so perfect. Such a wonderful experience.

Great experience for food and enjoyment. Went last week between snow storms and was this ever a welcome oasis. My daughter loves this place and I finally got to go. I’ll tell you right now, this is now a favorite of mine!

Authentic Shepard’s Pie and Chicken Pot Pie were FABULOUS!

The vibe is is cozy, welcoming, and just plain fun. The music was from the 80’s mostly (sweet) and two of the larger tables near us were almost having a sing off. It was hilarious and added that much more to the fun night with my family. One the large tables had brought a fish they had caught and the kitchen cook it for them!

The parking was a bit of a challenge, but you know, tons of snow so no foul there. I hear in the Spring/Summer/Fall there is a lot of outdoor seating that is a premium attraction.

This is a local, home place that you will fall in love with. Popular place, for sure and reservations for 15 people or more. So plan well and enjoy!

Very cozy and homey Irish pub/restaurant that serves hearty, stick to your ribs, delicious foods. Me and my wife have been coming here for over a decade now. Their classic shepherds pie is absolutely the best..savory and very hearty classic shepherds pie with lamb meat and veggies as filling. Their pizza and burgers are excellent as well. Last time I was there though, I tried their corned beef and cabbage and it wasn't that good. I'll stick to my favorite from now on. It's worth it to visit this eatery for their classics only. And of course their bar has an extensive list of beers and lagers. Their cocktails, I'm unsure though. Highly recommend this place. If you stick to their classic dishes and brews I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed. It does get busy so be ready to wait.

Best fish n chips, Best Reuben sandwich ever! LARGE position, loved it so much!!
The fish n chips are super fresh and the texture just perfect than you can imagine. The Reuben sandwich is super tasty, the thick cut soft delicious beef is melting inside of your month.
Highly recommended!!

4/13/23: Truffle Mac and Cheese, Pear and Blue Cheese salad, and the Bread Pudding were excellent. Shepherds Pie was decent but I'd order the chicken pot pie next time instead cause it has the pastry crust.

We drove past this place a couple times before stopping in. From the outside this place looks like a lot of fun. In good weather, they have a patio with plenty of seating and even little plastic igloo things. In the snow, it was even cuter with its Christmas decor and lights.

This place has a great atmosphere. First, the staff works as a team and seemingly all of them know what’s going on with each table. Better yet, they all seem like they’re having fun working there. They definitely add to the upbeat, friendly vibe. The service was great. Second, it seemed about half the people who walked in were regulars — which is always a good sign. Even so, they were just as welcoming to newcomers.

We got the Beer-battered chicken nuggets and the fish and chips. The chicken nuggets were a huge portion and came with 7 different dipping sauces. Each sauce made in house and was super tasty. It was so much fun to try all of the sauces that way. The fish and chips (we got with a side of onion rings) were light, perfectly fried and extremely flavorful. While we got seemingly staples or basic meals, they delivered on quality. During our meal, we watched many things come out of the kitchen and each looked better than the next. Next time we come in (soon!) I will have to try the Corned Beef and Cabbage.

As for drinks, they had a full bar and an extensive selection. The on-tap beers were limited but high quality choices and a nice mix of local California beers.

I really can’t say enough about this place. We definitely had a 5 star experience for our first time here.

I wasn't expecting much when my partner and I picked this spot for an early dinner. Boy was it a treat. Authentic pub food, best I've had in the country. I mean it.

Proper pour of Guinness accompanied our corned beef with cabbage (properly sided with mustard) and a delicious shepherd's pie.

The wings and fries are amazing too if you're looking for east coast quality buffalo and the Scottish thunder sauce is not quite "Thai spicy" but it's almost there.

Plus the wait staff are very well organized and provide great service, even on the outdoor patio seats (which are cute and lovely on a warm day)

Will be visiting again.

The food is so amazing, even though the waiters were probably sick of us, this place had us coming back three nights in a row before we left from our vacation. It's THAT good.

This place is a South Lake Tahoe gem. Service could use a little changes (hostess getting seated). MacDuffs has great food at a fair price for the location. The atmosphere is a classic pub. The food is very flavorful and very tasty. Most items on the menu are made from scratch I am told. You can’t go wrong with anything at this place. Portions of the food will definitely leave you very full. Make sure to have the french onion it’s a classic. The fish and chips have a great beer batter on them and are a very nice size. Pizzas are great and the chicken pot pie is excellent. Great job, Thanks guys!
