The atmosphere was great, and the food was fantastic and the service perfect! We had the Masala Dosa and Aloo Mater, and both were amazing! The Masala Dosa is something truly special, prepare to share (even if you don't want to). When we're in the area again we will definitely visit again!

I cannot express my pure delight at this establishment. The food was outstanding, one of the best meals I have had in quite some time. The service was phenomenal, and the portions were large. Will absolutely be coming back!!

All the dishes were excellent and authentic!! The service was so kind and welcoming. I have already came here once before and both times the service and food was excellent! I am Indian and I have tried several Indian restaurants in Texas and California, and this is definitely the #1 spot for Indian food for me!!

Literally the BEST Indian food I’ve had so far in Southern California. I’ve been around the U.S. a few times and have Indian food all over. This place dang near blew my socks off! POW!! Bring your appetite, the portions are so big! Sharing is caring! Everything is so delicious. I received complimentary dessert which was delicious. Everything is so good and soO authentic. Trust me when I say, you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!
Also, the staff are extremely responsive and you will not wait for ANYTHING!

The service most friendly, warm and welcoming 🙏 . The smell of the cooking field my hart and senses, tacking me back home to a warm loving childhood. Children of the proprietor folded and decorated paper airplanes ✈ so fun to share how to direct airflow that would give lift and duration to the plain toss.

This is my favorite restaurant in Ventura! I love the food here and the waiters are so nice. Whether you sit on the patio or inside, the atmosphere is so romantic. I really hope to see this place get more business. It is truly incredible.

I came here tonight during a road trip. I arrived at 9:10pm (they close at 10:00 on Thursdays). I was worried that I might be unwelcome because it was late. They were highly welcoming. The food was great. They gifted me a Aloo Tikka plate. I have never had before. It was great. I ordered the lamb korma combo. I wanted the garlic naan, and the rice anyway, so adding the raita and the other side was a plus. Everything was great. I highly recommend. Photos before naan came out.

Had a wonderful dinner with many flavors. We are gluten-free and the restaurant is very accommodating. We started with the vegetable pakora with 3 or 4 dipping sauces. Excellent! Then Butter Lamb Curry, rich and creamy tomato sauce, over saffron rice! Delicious! Gluten free bread and ended with rice pudding. The servers are attentive! They all check on the tables! Very refreshing! We'll be back!

Walking by I couldn’t resist the wonderful spices coming from this restaurant. We spent two hours enjoying their delicious food. Excellent friendly service too. Amazing flavors.

I am visiting Ventura, CA for the first time and searched for an Indian restaurant. I found a lot of good reviews for The Taj cafe. I went there and once I entered the place, we felt welcomed by the waiter. Then another waiter cane to take the order . He was so informative, kind , and well educated. We ordered two Korma Plates ( Chicken and Lamb). Before the main entries came, they had brought amazing small dipping sauces, then two complementary lemon ginger juice. The Korma was amazing, with amazing Nan bread, Rice, Dal and salad. After we done eating the amazing medium spicy korma plates, they brought another complementary dessert.

Definitely I will come back again and will refer all my friends to that place.

I am a picky eater. I was forced to come by my brother and sister in law because they insisted i would like it. I hate to admit they were right. The food was AMAZING. I was still scared to try the complimentary dish they brought out to us while we waited but my brother and sister in law stated it was extremely delicious. We all ordered different things and i tried everything and it was all delicious. The customer service is also another big thing i noticed that was just amazing. The people were extremely nice and attentive, you just don’t see that type of customer service anymore at all. They brought out complimentary rice pudding at the end and that was also delicious. This was all of us first time here and we will indeed be coming back.

Only have wonderful things to say. Beautiful, authentic atmosphere, delicious, highly flavorful food — and I also had the privilege of meeting one of the owners, Raj, who was so incredibly kind and welcoming. We had the butter chicken, chile garlic naan, samosas, and house made ginger lemonade. All of it was amazing! Will definitely be supporting this restaurant and you should too!

This restaurant is a local gem. I've been here a few times now, and literally everything I've ordered has been delicious every time. Imho, this restaurant has the best lamb I've ever had (and I'm quite judgemental). The menu is clearly marked and there are plenty of options to suit different dietary preferences & needs. This is the place I order takeaway from on a Friday night when I've had a trying week, but the restaurant interior is nice as well, and I could see this being a good date night spot (or a place for dinner with the family!) also.

This is the best Indian Restaurant I have been too!!! The flavors in all of the dishes and sauces are absolutely amazing. I visit my Mom twice a year (she lives close to Ventura) and it’s a must that I go to this restaurant at least once (hopefully twice) each visit.

Tried this food and cafe for the first time And it was freaking delicious i def. have a new favorite spot. The plate I got was a pretty expensive like $30 a plate but there was other options for like $15 I also tried my sisters plate and it was delicious. The butter Chicken,Beryioni rice. I'm not sure if that's what it's called, but.
Also the chicken Tikka, masala.. Just everything was amazing. The employees were very nice and attentive. If I had the money I would eat there probably every day, so good. The only thing was the atmosphere was very nice. Except the tables felt a little crowded into a small room but it was doable

Absolutely delicious food. I've been looking for some good Indian food for a while. We tried the lamb korma and it's so good, I can't recommend it enough. The sauce is full of flavor and the lamb is tender. We had it with the cumin rice and it works well together. We also got raita (yogurt) and if you get a spicy curry, I recommend getting the yogurt as it neutralizes the heat if you eat it with the curry and rice! The onion bhaji was delicious as well. We also got the cheese naan, which was interesting as it had cheddar cheese; it was good to dip in the korma. Next time, I'll try the garlic naan. Staff is nice, and they gave us a complimentary ginger lemonade and chickpea dish. It's a little pricey, but it's quality food.

Everything about this place is just SO, so good.
The staff are all extremely helpful, attentive, welcoming, and kind. Like seriously, everyone was clearing plates quickly and efficiently, great at understanding and recommending in light of food sensitivities and restrictions, and were all flawlessly friendly and polite.
Tons and tons of vegan and vegetarian options, which my family greatly appreciated.
Great prices for the lunch specials, and really big portions (our choices came with garlic naan, salad, and tons of rice!)

I had a favorite place in Sherman Oaks that I had frequented for years before trying this place, and now I fully intend on making this my new place! Hands-down the best Vegetable Masala I’ve ever had!

The service was amazing, they never stopped, I admit I tipped 50%! They brought me dishes on the house as I had questions, I ate like a king and had food to go. Very charming atmosphere as well!
