The ZOO Health Club - Oakland Park

This is the best gym in Florida!
I absolutely love the staff,truly amazing people that really care about their clients.
I've been going there for 8 years and there's no other gym that beats it!

Zoo is a cool, independent gym that has an old school body building vibe with some great modern amenities.

This is not a corporate gym - the owner works out there, trains clients there and is almost always on site. If you have a complaint, you can just walk up and tell him. You'll often see the owner working on improvements and maintenance to keep the gym looking good.

Zoo has a mix of older (but well maintained) equipment and brand new machines as well. There is a 100 yard section of turf for running down the middle of the gym flanked by sections for boxing, martial arts, gymastics and cardio.

One of the best bits of this gym are the trainers. Zoo charges a very reasonable fee for their trainers. The trainers are almost all professional body builders who are able to tailor workouts for people regardless of where they are in their fitness journey.

Zoo's membership fees are slightly higher than the budget chain gyms like Crunch and a little less than places like LA Fitness. The value for money is good - Zoo is a huge, locally owned, well maintained gym with friendly staff. Definitely worth a few bucks more than the chains.

I moved to Fort Lauderdale almost 5 years ago and im mad that I didnt join this gym sooner. Unlike LA, the dumbbells are exactly where they’re supposed to be and the vibe is just great. They have just about every piece of equipment you will ever need and the gym is always clean and the other members and staff are always respectful. Out of all the gyms in Fort Lauderdale, I wouldn’t recommend any of them over this one

Definitely an old school gym. Very cool vibe. I just wish the cardio equipment was more up to date and not faulty. Other than that it's great

I wished I would have come here a long time ago. This is a true, serious gym. Not a “health club” like LA Fitness or Planet Fitness. Lots of equipment, friendly staff and overall a great gym!

The gym offers a lot of space to workout. It’s very motivating to be here. The machines are new and functioning. Even can use Active and Fit Direct.

Just signed up today and seems to be a real good gym for serious training. Will update this review after a month or so.

Reasonable price and month to month membership with a not so cheap initiation fee.

Sauna and steam room out of order, not sure if it's because covid or if it will be fixed soon, will update later.

Most equipment you would want including Reverse Hyper machine. Only things I would add would be a Belt Squat Machine and one of those vibration plate machines.

Plenty of boxing bags and a boxing ring.

I love this gym. The owner and his team of trainers and the nutritionist work with you to help you get into the healthiest/best shape for your body and age. They are not just a mill that runs people through like one of those big national gyms. They are the best!

Awesome gym! I like all the free weights and the boxing ring and punching bags are cool. Everybody is nice and friendly and it’s never too crowded. Great place to work out get in your zone and don’t be bothered by anyone would Definitely recommend to friends👍👍

So far, so good. Just joined here because Powerhouse Gym was getting way too crowded. Plenty of redundancy of machinery. Lots of fans make it very comfortable. Lots and lots of cool machines. Mature crowd

By far one of the best and cleanest gyms I've ever worked out in. Not only do they have some of the greatest equipment by far it makes the other gyms like la fitness pale in comparison. When it comes to the covid-19 saftey they are on the ball. Their staff is breaking back and balls to keep that place 100% spotless. But as for the awesome machines their staff is 100% well-rounded in all aspects of nutrition as well as giving you their wealth of knowledge in pulling out every ounce of your body's full potential. So hands down this is my home for working out. My wife has been a member longer than me and the results are staggering. If not for the zoo and there awesome staff I know some things physically my wife would have never overcome if not for the great health of the gym and their understanding of body physiology thank you ZOO you have a great crew.

Great gym. Friendly staff, plenty of equipment: dumbbells, free weights, cardio equipment, hammer strength, even a women's section. I have a membership at you fit, but rarely go because this gym is so much better.
The rating for this gym is not accurate. If you look, all the negative ratings were fromm a year or more ago. Gil, the owner, has really turned this place around!!! No broken equipment, place Is clean, and he has almost doubled the amount of machines. There is never a problem finding open equipment to work out on... unlike LA Fitness.

Love this gym. Great variety of equipment, great staff, stays clean and the members here have a really positive vibe. Left LA to come here and wish I would have done it much sooner.

I said it on yelp but l say it again because this place doesn’t get the praise it deserves: Gil and the rest of the crew at the Zoo is so incredible and friendly— every time I am in town visiting from college, I get a guest pass here and I love it every time. Awesome amenities— they have boxing equipment, a barre room, CrossFit tires, sleds, etc. and of course tons of machines with a focus on free weights. No 100 machine cardio section here— just how I like it! The community that frequents this gym is very friendly and dedicated to their fitness which makes it a great place to work out! Well equipped, a lot of variety and options for exercises, really helpful and friendly staff!
Many of the machines are showing their age, but that hardly affects our workouts.
Probably my favorite thing: the floor is very spacious; even during peak hours, the place never feels crowded or packed.

Really awesome gym!! Me and my family are from Sweden and we go to this gym every time we visit because the atmosphere, equipment, staff and just everything in general is awesome! This feels almost like a second home because the staff and other members are so inviting and polite, especially Chris, always really nice and just in general a f**king great guy! This gym is for everyone! Powerlifters,bodybuilders,rehabs,regular people just trying to get fit, athletes, martial artists, you name it!

Ive been going to this gym for a while now. Its definitely one of the best. Great equipment. Free weights that are in order. Updated great machines. If youre looking to train and not socialize or look for a date..then this is the place. Everyone here..staff and members have been really respectful and polite. Im Zoo for life!!!

I was never big into working out until I broke my neck. After several surveys the doctor told me if I exercise I'll never have problems. I joined & doctor said I healed fast. I've been going 2-3 times a week since & never felt better. This place is great. I get in & out with no hassles. Everyone's kind & helpful!

I love the ZOO GYM , this place is amazing , like everything under the sun too possibly“ train “with is in this gym ,the staff is very personable friendly & accomodating , like they really enjoy what they are doing and go above & beyond to get all ages , on a super personal level there fitness goals met . I began with a trainer here MS. Taylor 6 weeks ago on just specifically hips & glutes a very troubled weak area for me, I’m beginning to feel stronger than ever and much more confident and capable, I’m 52 and was looking to get stronger for later in life and found my happy place here .MR.GILL is the person I joined with he knew who would be the best fit for my desire so quickly after I joined he led me to TAYLOR she’s amazing as they all are 😇

Ok so I haven't even worked out besides the tour they gave me of the gym. The people there are very nice! I signed up for a free pass online and the next day I received a phone call from a very enthusiastic girl named lauren. I've never gotten a phone call like that before, it made me feel welcome before I even stepped inside. (Which is huge for me.) I came in the next day and sat with her talked about my goals. They offer boxing classes with membership as well which is something I've always wanted to do. Not to mention the sauna and steam rooms are a plus. It's not the best looking gym but honestly I'm going there to sweat...not dance in a ballgown. I love it. Can't wait to start!
