Wow! This is a beautiful place to ski. Staff were so welcoming and helpful. Trails were very well marked. Grooming was excellent and layout of trail system was great for all levels. My 9 & 11 year old range from tentative and cautious green run kid to very seasoned skier heading up and down black runs. We all had a great day! Special thanks to Mr. Bob for his expertise on where to go and his assist to get us all out happily skiing. We’ll be back for sure, and look forward to skiing to and staying in those yurts.

We had a great time - highly recommend making a nice afternoon of it! The trails were gorgeous and we found the rental xc skiing equipment to be so comfortable. The temp was in the teens, and it was snowing the whole time so we bundled up and had a blast. There's also a little "warming yurt" midway through the trails which was a nice little break in our afternoon. We are beginners so we mostly stuck to the greens and blues but there are some double blacks too. Chain gave us a 5 minute (don't) crash course in xc skiing and he was just generally awesome and super helpful. Will definitely be back. Thank you!

We loved our experience here! Such friendly staff (looks like a mom and pop place), not crowded trails, and good quality rentals. Tip: book online in advance for tix and rentals. We drove up from Taos for the day which made for a fun day trip. We were a little confused by the "Private Road" sign right at the end, but it turned out to be the correct way to go. It also looks like they have some fun special events like a nightime guided snowshoe walk, etc. Will definitely return when we're in the area!

We had a wonderful experience for a couple of days XC skiing and staying in Little John yurt. It took us a little getting used to the ascents and descents of the area, but a great XC ski area. An area tucked into some old trees, warming hut, wonderful vistas. The little quaint homey ski base filled with rental equipment and gift shop is also staffed by a friendly and knowledgeable group. The yurt was awesome. Had everything we needed.

One of the best vacations our family has done. Stayed in a yurt. I have been cross country skiing for years and this was the most fun I have had. Loved the trails and the views.

During the summer, the Red River Community Center has hiking here once a week. The leaders were nice and informative. The hike we went on was ~5 miles roundtrip. There are a couple of port-o-potties along the trail near the yurts. Once at the top, there were beautiful scenic views looking over the towns of Upper Valley and Red River. There were a lot of hills, and some of the climbs were tiring, but lots of flat and slightly downhill areas. It was a nice day, a little chilly at the beginning (morning) and while resting at the top. Bring a jacket just in case. I took 8 water bottles on the hike, but only ended up using 6.
Overall, this hiking trip was a great family and community experience.

Beautiful place and views, especially from the top. Staff is super nice. Trails are tricky for beginners, including the Powderfuff green trail. Will definitely be back!

I'm so happy to say that early skiing was great on 11/25/2018. We were able to ski to the furthest point on the course where we took these pictures of Red River.

Excellent summer time hiking at almost 10,000 feet! Pro tip: Snap a photo of the map at the kiosk as there are many interconnected trails!

Enjoyed a wonderful day snowshoeing here with my family. The staff/owners were incredibly friendly and helpful from my first phone call to inquire about a visit, all the way through the rental and orientation process. Great equipment including not only well-fitting snowshoes but also warm, dry and comfortable boots (which also kept our personal footwear warm and dry back at the office/cabin. The trails are beautiful and well maintained- even in the current conditions with very little fresh snow for the past several weeks. The 3 mile loop was perfect for our afternoon outing and we had a nice snack break at the Midway Yurt. We were even treated to a free “guide”- specifically the very friendly and beautiful (owners) dog, Osita, who accompanied us for the entire loop. We all fell in love with her. After our loop we enjoyed visiting with the owners back at the cabin, hearing about the amazing history of the Enchanted Forest (see their website for the written version) and learning more about the Taos and Red River areas. Overall, a wonderful day with the family in beautiful surroundings. Well worth the trip and will definitely be back again.

For my first time xc skiing it was a blast. The young lady that gave us lessons was very nice and knowledgeable. The prices are great and it's a beautiful area that looks like it came straight out of a Disney movie.

This facility is run well...a great place to learn how to XC ski. It has well maintained forest trails with a warming hut midway up. The owners and instructors care about those who come to enjoy the great outdoors whether it is for snowshoe or ski activity. I so enjoyed my time while there for a few days!
A big thanks to Shane also for his patient expertise for the few hours I was there on my last day! ⛷😎⛷

Have been skiing the Enchanted Forest since about 1993. It is, as the name implies, Enchanted. Often I head up there alone. I can have a day of skiing by myself yet know I'm safe, unlike when I ski the back country. Never alone.
Jeff has been making improvements to the area since he bought it from his in-laws several years ago. He's doing an amazing job.
In the summer I'll go up there to ride mountain bikes and take the dogs for a romp. It's beautiful year 'round. Thanks for making this wonderland available!

Enchanted is a perfect description. 30km of XC ski trails and 18km of snow shoeing in pristine forest. Mountain biking in the summer plus yurt rentals year round. Lovely people to boot.
